Chapter 32: Claiming the Quest Reward (Please Follow! Please Vote for Monthly Tickets!)

~5 min read 910 words

Jerald was only one year older than Mo En and still a teenager, so it was truly hard for him to think of so much.

Driven by his conscience, he resolutely left his homeland and came to the Earth Land world, determined to prevent the "Anima" from taking effect as much as possible.

His power was far too weak to change Edolas, to alter his father’s decisions as king, or to defy the will of the “god.”

This, now, was among the few things he could do—he only wished to contribute his share, minimize Earth Land’s losses, and soothe his conscience.

But Mo En’s appearance, and Macao’s, suddenly opened new avenues for him, unlocked a new door.

Jerald couldn’t help but reflect: perhaps he had been too narrow-minded before.

The magic “Anima” harms the entire Earth Land world—its strongest warriors surely wouldn’t be willing to accept it.

Alone, he couldn’t stop his father or defy the “god,” but what if he added the strength of Earth Land’s warriors? Would things turn around?

“So can Itachi do it? Send us all to another world.”

As Mo En spoke, he waved his hand in front of Jerald’s dazed face.

Jerald snapped out of it and shook his head, struggling to reply:

“Not now. I can’t do it.”

“But I can keep researching—I’ll definitely be able to do it someday!”

Seeing Mo En and Macao’s faces visibly sink with disappointment, Jerald quickly added another sentence.

He had never before considered doing such a thing, so naturally he hadn’t studied it—crossing worlds wasn’t simple, and he wouldn’t dare make empty promises.

Upon hearing this, Mo En and Macao both understood.

Demanding that Jerald do everything was indeed unreasonable.

“Join us, Jerald. Join Fairy Tail. Make this your home in this world—like Grandma Porlyusica. Itachi’ll grow to love it here.”

After understanding the full story and formulating a rough counterplan, Mo En supported Jerald as he walked, extending the guild invitation.

Macao watched beside him, saying nothing—he would have spoken up himself if Mo En hadn’t.

This boy Jerald was exactly Macao’s type: a child willing to risk his life to stop “Anima” for others, clearly deeply loyal and honorable.

Such a boy was perfect for Fairy Tail—his moral character alone was outstanding.

“Can I?”

Facing Mo En’s invitation, Jerald hesitated—he wasn’t from this world, and might merely be a passing traveler.

Most crucially, he had to chase after the scent of “Anima” constantly—he couldn’t stay in the guild forever.

“Why not? Fairy Tail is free. We won’t restrict Itachi. Itachi can still do what Itachi need to do.”

Mo En smiled and explained: joining Fairy Tail didn’t mean staying in the guild all the time—look at Gildarts, never home, returning once a year if he was lucky—but everyone still revered him.

Moreover, stopping “Anima” was a true mission—Fairy Tail would never restrict Jerald’s actions; not only that, they’d provide him every possible aid.

“But Mo En, I have no magic power—I’m not even really a mage. Can someone like me join a mage guild?”

Mo En’s words had stirred Jerald, but he didn’t immediately accept—he still had many worries.

People from Edolas had no magic power, no source to generate it; they could only cast spells using magical devices.

At best, they were users of magical tools—not true mages. There was a fundamental difference.

“Jerald, who told Itachi that without magic power or spellcasting ability Itachi can’t join a guild?”

Mo En shook his head, rejecting Jerald’s claim.

“A successful guild isn’t bound by magic power or spells—it’s bound by companionship! By friendship and bonds between each other!”

Mo En looked at Jerald, imparting Fairy Tail’s core philosophy: though they were a mage guild, they were far more than just a mage guild!

“.”

Jerald stared at Mo En, seeing the confidence in his eyes, the pride in being part of Fairy Tail—his heart stirred.

“I’ll join.”

Jerald spoke, cutting off Mo En’s further explanation.

No more introduction was needed—he was already moved, by Mo En’s words, his confidence, his pride.

Who said Itachi needed magic power or spellcasting to join a guild?

The guild existed because they were companions.

Not because they had magic power or could cast spells.

For Jerald, this was exactly what he wanted—this was the guild he truly wished to join!

“Good! Now we’re family!”

Seeing Jerald accept, Mo En beamed, clapping him on the shoulder like a brother—much to Jerald’s pain, who winced from the blow.

Mo En was so excited because the [Saint Warrior System] had reacted—unexpectedly.

【Ding! Reward available. Claim now?】

Seeing this prompt, Mo En immediately pulled up the quest titled “A Guild Is Where Companions Gather!”

【Quest Progress:

Invite Mystogan to join (Completed)

Invite Wendy Marvell to join (Incomplete)

Quest Reward:

Invite one person to join: Random Bronze Saint Cloth (Claimable)

Invite both to join: Reward “Saint Cloth Repair Manual”】

Indeed, the quest progress had changed—Jerald wasn’t lying; he truly wanted to join Fairy Tail.

‘The reward can be claimed in parts!’

This surprising discovery delighted Mo En.

In quests with multiple objectives and rewards, being stuck on one hard task would be agonizing—but splitting rewards by stages avoided this entirely.

‘Claim!’

Mo En didn’t hesitate—he took the reward first. It would go directly into the system’s storage, no visible emergence; neither Jerald nor Grandpa Macao would notice.
