Chapter 477: Purely a Misunderstanding
No big deal, I'll just team up with Xiao Hu and sweep through this Xia Ling Village dungeon.
Damn, they come straight at us with a boss gang beatdown, giving us no time to gear up.
Zhu Liwen's eyes were full of anger, he pointed a kitchen knife at the two of them,
"Ye Cheng, heaven has a path you don't take, hell has no gate you insist on charging through, and you still dare to bully my mother—today don't blame us brothers."
"I'm bullying your mother, fuck!" Ye Cheng cursed back, "You damn lot aren't anything good, tricking us into staying for a meal, then surrounding us—do you still have any law?"
"Eat shit, you guys wait for the feast!" the fourth brother said viciously.
"Get them!" Zhu Liwen shouted, no more talk, brandishing his kitchen knife and charging forward.
Ye Cheng had now completely calmed down; today's situation was beyond fixing, and there was no time to call the police.
"Xiao Hu, later we'll go all out—go up and cripple two of them, otherwise we'll hardly get out."
"Got it, brother—just strike the throat, one hit to the throat will do." Xiao Hu said fiercely.
Just as both sides were about to start fighting, a small figure suddenly rushed in and launched an attack at the Zhu family four brothers.
"What the hell are you hitting for? Stop! Stop!"
Ye Cheng took a closer look—it was Lady Li.
He and Xiao Hu exchanged a surprised glance, wondering what was going on.
The Zhu brothers were also dazed, jumping around from the blows, Zhu Liwen asked angrily,
"Mom, why are you hitting us?"
"Who else should I hit if not you? They're guests, and you come in swinging—do you want to end up in jail?"
The old lady planted herself in the middle, hands on hips, scolding the four brothers; the Zhu brothers had no recourse against their own mother, each feeling stifled to death.
Zhu Liwen couldn't take it anymore, he pointed at Ye Cheng and his companion and said,
"Mom, they're the ones who sank our boat, and today they came again looking for trouble, even climbing over our wall."
"Who told you they came looking for trouble?"
The old lady glared, and Zhu Liwen's momentum instantly deflated.
"They came to see me, hoping I'd discipline you properly, and even brought two crates of milk—what's the fuss? You're the ones causing trouble."
"No, Mom, why were you chasing them with a knife?" Zhu Liwen looked at his mother, bewildered.
"I was killing a chicken, killing a chicken!" the old lady fumed, "I finally got them to stay for a meal—don't I need to kill a chicken?"
Xiao Hu was a bit confused, he asked,
"Lady Li, you weren't trying to kill us, were you?"
Lady Li turned around, glaring at Xiao Hu,
"You brat, didn't I say I'd let you stay for a meal? Why would I kill you? I'm just an old lady, not a murderer."
Ye Cheng looked at Xiao Hu, speechless, and said softly,
"Let you watch less violent movies—now the misunderstanding's huge."
Xiao Hu scratched his head, looking embarrassed.
Now that the misunderstanding's cleared, Ye Cheng no longer needed to hold back, he said to Lady Li,
"Um, Lady Li, it's a misunderstanding, pure misunderstanding—how about you have your son put the knife down first?"
Zhu Liwen was still holding the kitchen knife, dripping blood, looking sinister.
"Hurry up and give me the knife," the old lady snapped, turning to her eldest son.
Zhu Liwen handed the knife back with a resentful face, though he was still unhappy inside,
"Mom, why are you treating them to a meal? We have a grudge."
"What nonsense grudge—you're the ones who hurt someone, I have to help you apologize."
"You four," the old lady pointed at her sons, "go in, kill a chicken, cook rice, then buy some wine—this noon keep the two guests company with drinks."
Having said that, she turned and walked toward Ye Cheng,
"Little Ye, just eat in peace here—if they dare touch you, this old lady will smash her head into the courtyard wall today!"
Hearing the old lady's fierce words, Zhu Liwen immediately got scared,
"Mom! Why are you saying that? Can't we just obey?"
"Be obedient, be obedient—hurry in and get to work; I'll keep Little Ye and his friend company with conversation."
Saying that, the old lady returned the knife to the eldest, then led Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu back to sit in the courtyard.
The brothers looked at each other, resigned, and went in to work.
"Little Ye, don't worry about them—they'll handle it; when I stew the chicken later, I'll make sure it's delicious."
Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu now sat in the courtyard, feeling the embarrassment about to overwhelm them.
The old lady was amiable, but she couldn't stand the Zhu brothers; although she didn't dare lay a hand on them, her comings and goings gave looks that could kill them a hundred times over.
Fortunately the old lady was fairly talkative; she led Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu to look at her chickens and vegetables, so it wasn't totally boring.
The four men prepared together, lunch came together quickly; finally the old lady went in to cook rice, then set up a big table in the courtyard, letting Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu sit in the seats of honor.
To prevent the two from running off, the old lady specially had the third brother crouch at the door to guard—Ye Cheng found this helpless.
Even Liu Bang going to the Hongmen Banquet wasn't this agonizing.
After much waiting, the meal finally began; Lady Li had her sons sit with them, then happily looked at everyone and started speaking,
"Little Ye, my sons aren't inherently bad—I've just held them back; they're always thinking of saving money to treat my illness."
"It's my useless body that's driven them down some crooked paths."
"In that case, this old lady will first raise a cup to you, as an apology."
Having said that, before Ye Cheng could stop her, the old lady downed two taels of white liquor in one gulp.
Seeing this, Ye Cheng's eyes went wide—'Damn, the old lady is that fierce?'
The old lady finished drinking, five pairs of eyes stared at Ye Cheng and Xiao Hu.
The two glanced at each other, let's just drink, what's there to fear, could we still lose to an old lady?
You can say my drinking capacity is poor, but you can't say we lack drinking courage.
"Drink!"
The two raised their cups, two liang of baijiu went down.
"Mm, this liquor is not bad." Ye Cheng, after drinking, couldn't help complimenting: the liquor enters the mouth very mellow, not stimulating, only after it goes down to the stomach does it have a hint of spiciness, warm and cozy.
Seeing Ye Cheng and them drink, the old lady grew pleased and couldn't help but begin to introduce.
"This is our own brewed liquor, pure grain, not inferior to Maotai or anything like that."
Just as she finished speaking, the old lady turned her gaze to Zhu Liwen.
"Boss, you take the lead, toast the guests a cup."
Zhu Liwen stood up unhappily, raised his cup, without a word, downed another two liang of baijiu, then holding the empty cup, he looked at the two with a provocative expression.
Damn, they're intending to use a wheel battle, right?
But they've drunk, our own momentum must not weaken.
