Chapter 141: Hand-Crafted Nuclear Bomb
Kemo and the others were also feeling quite helpless. They wanted to keep an eye on this group of Thunder Beasts, but these creatures were incredibly troublesome. Not only did they have thick, rough hides, but Kemo was the only one among them who could barely hold his ground against them.
Shadow Kill was a Mechanical Cyborg who specialized in assassination, which was why Yu Jin had tasked her with finding an opportunity to strike at the Purple-Winged Tiger's weak points.
Sals, much like Eagle Vulture, had a very ordinary Gene Chain. His strength was mediocre at best, making him absolutely no match for the Thunder Beasts. How could their combined efforts possibly compare to five Thunder Beasts working together?
Kansa's expression was rather ugly. He glanced at Mole and spoke with a hint of agitation, "Do you have any other methods?"
Right at that moment, the Electromagnetic Cannon in the Morcasa Camp—Morcasa's only high-energy attack method—finally finished charging.
Boom!
The entire camp trembled slightly. Under Kansa and Mole's eager gazes, the blast from the Electromagnetic Cannon was successfully blocked by a purple diamond-shaped light barrier, failing to cause even the slightest bit of damage.
Mole's face visibly darkened, and Kansa shot him a look of utter disgust.
The situation was far from good. The Morcasa Camp had previously been bombarded by the Purple-Winged Tiger, and many of its defensive measures had been completely destroyed.
Forced into a corner, Kansa had to join the battle himself. The purple diamond-shaped crystal on his forehead emitted a faint purple glow, forming a diamond Shield that protected his entire body.
Two Purple Crystal Short Blades slipped from his cuffs. They possessed astonishing lethality, able to easily slice through the bodies of the Black Lizards.
"Are you still going to use those methods of yours?" Mole asked as he and Li Yu were being relocated under the escort of soldiers.
"Right now, we are all in the same boat. Once that Purple-Winged Tiger gets its paws on the Amethyst Core, I'm afraid nothing on this entire planet will be able to stop it."
Mole spoke with deep concern. Kansa clearly understood this as well, which was why he reluctantly joined forces with Mole to deal with the Purple-Winged Tiger.
Uh... to be honest, Morcasa was playing a minor role at best.
Li Yu naturally understood this logic as well. The sudden appearance of the Purple-Winged Tiger had disrupted everyone's plans. He glanced at the core battlefield, pondered for a moment, and said, "It probably wouldn't be of much use..."
Five Thunder Beasts and one Purple-Winged Tiger—how could an Alien Queen's legion that had only been developing for about ten days possibly deal with them? Wouldn't that just be sending them to their deaths as Cannon Fodder?
Mole let out a disappointed sigh. He had lost his composure. Li Yu wasn't omnipotent; after all, he was only a C-Tier Lifeform.
"However..." Li Yu's tone suddenly shifted. "I suppose I could go and give it a try..."
"You!?" Mole reacted as if he had grasped a lifeline. His eyes quickly lit up, only to just as swiftly dim. He said hesitantly, "That's not just one Thunder Beast, it's five of them. Forget it..."
Following that, he carefully scanned their surroundings and lowered his voice, "Right now, Yu Jin's squad is pinned down. You and Hunter should take this opportunity to leave."
"Oh?" Li Yu cast a surprised glance at Mole, quite taken aback by those words.
"What about you?" he asked in return.
"Me..." Mole looked at the Morcasa soldiers fighting desperately to protect him all around them, and sighed. "My roots are here, and my daughter is still here. I can't leave..."
Li Yu fell silent for a moment before shaking his head. "I haven't received my payment yet, so I can't leave either. Besides..."
Li Yu pointed at his own clothing and continued, "It has been craving this for a long time..."
Mole looked a bit confused, not quite grasping Li Yu's meaning. Suddenly, Li Yu's clothes began to surge and shift, transforming into white-gold Armor that covered his entire body. Eight golden mechanical arms extended from his back.
Hum!
Eight different weapons simultaneously extended from the ends of the mechanical arms. Under Mole's deeply moved gaze, Li Yu leaped directly into the tide of Black Lizards.
"I'll be right back..."
He wasn't doing this for Mole. This wasn't a guaranteed loss yet, so why would he leave early?
The Alien Queen was still on this planet. Unless it was absolutely necessary, Li Yu would not choose to retreat.
A torrent of energy bullets poured out from all around Li Yu, sweeping away the nearby Black Lizards. Like a bolt of lightning, he carved a bloody path straight through the swarm.
Kansa cast a questioning glance, his eyes lingering on the mechanical arms on Li Yu's back for a moment, but the situation didn't allow him much time to ponder.
Mole was calling out to him to protect the command center. That was the most critical location; it absolutely could not be breached by the Black Lizards.
Even though he knew the Amethyst Core was located right under the Morcasa Camp, Kansa currently had no intention of exposing that fact. Instead, he dedicated himself to defending the area.
Kemo and his group were barely managing to hold off the Thunder Beasts. The Ice Blade in Kemo's hands struck the bodies of the Thunder Beasts, drawing blood with every hit, but it was difficult to inflict any lasting damage. After all, the other Thunder Beasts would not stand idly by.
Shadow Kill's speed was incredible. She flickered unpredictably around the Thunder Beasts, dual Black Daggers in hand. Several times she nearly sliced open their eyes, but she was repeatedly forced back by surging waves of lightning. There was nothing she could do.
Without her teammates creating openings for her, she found it nearly impossible to effectively injure the enemy in a direct confrontation.
Sals was in a far more miserable state. He had a massive physique as a Weishan Giant, standing a full five meters tall at maximum size, but it was all for show. The Thunder Beasts batted him around like a football in a truly pathetic display.
Yu Jin was fighting the Purple-Winged Tiger by himself and was barely holding his ground. Fortunately, the beast had already suffered heavy injuries, allowing him to endure for the time being.
However, he wasn't optimistic. His subordinates couldn't hold out against the Thunder Beasts for much longer. Once the beasts regrouped and swarmed him, it would be the last straw. Yet, he had no other options at the moment.
He certainly had no desire to sacrifice his own life for that damn Kansa.
Kemo's Armor was custom-made, featuring extremely strong Low-Temperature Resistance that allowed him to display his full power flawlessly.
Thrusters operating in overdrive, he charged forward with his Ice Blade, slashing toward the abdomen of a Thunder Beast. His combat strategy was clear: he aimed to carve his way into the creature's body. That was the only way to inflict effective damage on the massive beast.
But the Thunder Beast's defenses were no joke. Blinding lightning flashed continuously. Kemo barely managed to cut through its thick layers of fur before he was blasted back by the electrical discharge.
Sparks and flames erupted from his Armor. The intense surge of lightning actually caused his suit's Anti-Electromagnetic Module to overload and explode.
Wearing a grim expression, Kemo ejected from the heavily damaged armor. Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of a white figure rushing toward them at breakneck speed, leaving a river of blood in his wake.
"It's him..." Kemo furrowed his brows. Suddenly, a huge shadow loomed over him. His face fell, and he threw himself out of the way just in time to dodge the Thunder Beast's massive stomping foot.
Shadow Kill materialized beside him, hauling him away from the beast's attack range. At the same time, she looked in the direction Li Yu was charging from.
"It's that guy..." she muttered, her eyes filled with undisguised contempt. "He wants to butt in too? He really doesn't know the meaning of death."
Kemo shot her a cold glare. "Is having one more piece of Cannon Fodder a bad thing? Put away your disdain. He managed to kill Eagle Vulture—could you do that?"
Shadow Kill looked somewhat abashed, the gills on the sides of her cheeks flaring open and shut, clearly indicating that her heart was far from calm.
Li Yu quickly arrived at the front lines, the eight mechanical arms on his back having already swapped their weapons.
They transformed into eight Light Blades. He stood with his hands clasped behind his back, staring down the five massive Thunder Beasts without an ounce of tension.
"Come over here and support me," Li Yu commanded unceremoniously.
"Who do you think you are..." Sals barked angrily, but before he could finish, Kemo cut him off.
"Shut up!" Kemo's face darkened. What a bunch of idiots. It was one thing to throw insults around during normal times.
But they were in the middle of a battle, and a losing one at that. They had finally gotten some help, yet they were mocking him? Utter idiots.
"No problem... Tell us, what's the plan?" Kemo was more than happy to oblige. Why would he refuse an extra pair of hands to share the pressure?
"Do you guys have any pom-poms?" Li Yu asked.
"Pom-poms?" Kemo frowned. "What pom-poms?"
"You know, the ones cheerleaders use to cheer people on..." Li Yu chuckled lightly.
Kemo's expression twisted. Before he could retort, Li Yu added, "If you don't have them, don't worry. Just remember to cheer me on later."
The eight mechanical arms sprang into action, the eight golden Light Blades dancing like phantoms. Under Claptrap's precise calculations, they swung along highly specific trajectories to maximize their destructive power.
Swish!
With the roar of Thrusters, Li Yu blurred into a golden streak of light. He directly sliced open the windpipe of one of the Thunder Beasts and dove inside. Decisive and clean!
Kemo's pupils contracted, and Shadow Kill swallowed the words she was about to spit out. Both of them knew exactly how devastating the Thunder Beasts' protective lightning was, and just how indestructible that seemingly soft fur truly was.
Yet Li Yu had completely ignored the lightning, torn through plumage that rivaled solid metal, and plunged straight into the beast's body. The shock they felt was monumental.
Previously, Li Yu could slay Thunder Beasts relying solely on his Gene Chain and the Titan Symbiotic Armor. Now that he had Energy Manipulation, what difference was there between the beast's dispersing lightning and his own energy?
It was all under his absolute command!
Kemo and the others were no ordinary Morcasa soldiers; they had enough combat experience to recognize what was happening.
"The Armor's integrity is off the charts, and that Energy Engine is absurdly powerful. It can actually power eight Light Blades simultaneously."
Shadow Kill muttered. Kemo, having fought that iron-hard fur at close quarters, felt the disparity even more deeply. He spoke with a grave tone, "Those Light Blades aren't simple either. I have no idea which Company manufactured them, but their cutting power is terrifying."
"Eight of them... That is not a small investment..."
In the interstellar void, everything required Star Coins. What usually restrained a lifeform's lofty ambitions and great aspirations was a lack of Star Coins.
Gene Chains required Star Coins, mechanical enhancements required Star Coins, and even flying a spaceship for a single interstellar mile required Star Coins!
Procuring eight top-tier Light Blades alone would cost a staggering amount of Star Coins.
Unfortunately, Kemo didn't know that "copy and paste" was a built-in feature of the Titan Symbiotic Armor. As long as there was an energy supply, it could be done.
Sals was suffering bitterly, barely able to protect himself. He wanted nothing more than to stand on the sidelines and watch the show like Kemo and Shadow Kill, but he couldn't get out.
Five Thunder Beasts meant twenty-five thick, massive legs. They sealed off every possible escape route, kicking him around like a football.
Crack!
Exactly like last time, Li Yu burst out from the creature's chest cavity. The massive Thunder Beast let out a mournful wail as blood gushed out like a tidal wave, drenching Sals from head to toe.
This time, however, Sals didn't dare utter a single complaint, terrified that this maniac might just chop him up too.
Li Yu didn't pause for a second. He immediately charged at the next Thunder Beast, his movements crisp and decisive. He severed its windpipe and tore open its chest. By the time he burst out of the second Thunder Beast's body, the first one had only just hit the ground.
Taking advantage of the fallen beast, Sals finally found an opening to scramble out. The death of their packmate had sent the remaining Thunder Beasts into a panic, causing them to stumble and bump into one another.
Over at the Morcasa Camp, Kansa was handling the surrounding Black Lizards with ease, even having the spare capacity to monitor the distant battlefield as his holographic combat visor relayed the real-time situation.
He was somewhat surprised by Li Yu's combat prowess. He naturally knew exactly what level of threat the Thunder Beasts posed. To cut through them like butter and effortlessly destroy them was a feat usually reserved for B-Tier Lifeforms.
"As expected of a former Captain of Augu, to be able to recruit someone of this caliber," Kansa remarked, seemingly offering a compliment.
Mole gave a hollow smile, offering no response.
He was internally quite shocked as well. He inexplicably felt that this guy's strength had increased yet again. He knew more about Li Yu's background, which sent his mind racing with possibilities.
"The nano-armor on Your Excellency God Slayer seems highly extraordinary..." Kansa spoke up again, his words carrying a hidden meaning.
Mole still didn't say a word. 'Trying to fish for information from me? You need a few more years of practice.'
Rumble!
The second Thunder Beast collapsed. The third Thunder Beast writhed in absolute agony, feeling an excruciating pain erupting from within its body—the harbinger of its death.
Clang!
Just as the eight crossed Light Blades were about to tear into the throat of the fourth Thunder Beast, a faint purple diamond-shaped barrier materialized out of thin air, blocking Li Yu's assault.
The Purple-Winged Tiger had finally noticed that something was terribly wrong and stepped in to intervene. Yu Jin looked over, his pupils focusing and then dilating as a flash of horror struck his heart. What just happened?
'How are three Thunder Beasts already dead? Are my subordinates really that fierce?'
It wasn't until he spotted Li Yu that he finally understood. 'How is that possible?!'
The Purple-Winged Tiger let out a mighty roar, and the two remaining Thunder Beasts immediately scrambled toward it, not daring to linger near Li Yu for a second longer.
'Boss, there's a monster over here...'
Li Yu held a Lightning Ball in his hand. It looked extremely unstable, having been compressed to its absolute limit. It was formed entirely from the Power of Thunder harvested from the three dead Thunder Beasts.
His actual hands hadn't moved at all during the slaughter; it had all been the work of his mechanical arms.
Glancing at Yu Jin, Li Yu shook his head and sighed. "What a pity. I was this close to killing all of them."
Yu Jin knew Li Yu was deliberately mocking him. He inexplicably felt a long-absent vein bulging tightly on his forehead.
But this wasn't the time to bicker. Once the dust settles, he would make this arrogant bastard taste true agony.
Perhaps the thought of that thrilling prospect lifted his mood, as a cold sneer curled on his lips. But when he glanced at his three goofy subordinates, his suppressed anger flared up again. "What are you idiots standing around for? Get over here and help me!"
Li Yu fiddled with the Lightning Ball. It was already growing volatile, though he managed to forcibly suppress it. With a flip of his wrist, he produced an Energy Gun and injected a bit of black energy into the sphere.
Following that, he injected some blue energy, added a touch of highly acidic rain, and dripped in some Magma. The entire Lightning Ball began to tremble violently, its colors shifting into a bizarre, chaotic swirl.
Li Yu could clearly feel the temperature inside skyrocketing rapidly, only to inexplicably plummet a second later, cycling back and forth in a dangerous loop.
It was currently being forcefully contained entirely by Li Yu's Energy Manipulation. God only knew what kind of chain reaction the mixed energies were triggering inside, but it had become devastatingly unstable.
Kemo had been secretly keeping an eye on Li Yu. Seeing his actions, Kemo's eye twitched. 'What the hell is he doing? That thing looks absolutely terrifying.'
Hiding beside the Purple-Winged Tiger, the two surviving Thunder Beasts regained their confidence. However, with the help of his three goofy subordinates, Yu Jin's burden had also lightened considerably.
The group fought with a practiced tacit understanding. Yu Jin had no intention of killing the Purple-Winged Tiger anyway; he just needed to stall for time.
Once his reinforcements arrived, the Purple-Winged Tiger, Morcasa, the God Slayer—they would all be reduced to dust.
Oh... well, except for the Purple-Winged Tiger, the rest were already nothing but dust in his eyes.
Yu Jin's expression shifted slightly. 'Since when did I start viewing this so-called God Slayer as a major threat?'
He was just a C-Tier Lifeform. Could he really flip the heavens? Fighting above one's tier wasn't completely impossible.
After all, technological weapons had no user restrictions. An ordinary mortal holding a Nuclear Blast Bomb could blow up a B-Tier Lifeform.
But in a strict, head-to-head confrontation of raw power? It was fundamentally impossible.
Even if it was a battle between a B-grade Gene Evolver who had fused with the cheapest Gene Chains at every stage, and a C-grade Gene Evolver who had fused with the most precious Gene Chains at every stage.
The B-grade Gene Evolver still wouldn't lose. The fusion of a Gene Chain didn't just bestow genetic abilities; it brought about a fundamental evolutionary leap in the lifeform itself.
Just the B-tier life phase alone granted immensely powerful physical resistance, speed, and strength.
Differences in Gene Chain quality only mattered when fighting opponents of the same tier, which was why many Gene Evolvers didn't particularly care whether a Gene Chain was expensive or cheap.
Not to mention the other evolutionary paths. This was even truer for Mechanical Cyborgs. A C-tier artificial intelligence simply couldn't match the processing speed of a higher-tier AI. Trying to fight above your weight class? You'd be better off going home to farm.
Therefore, Yu Jin had never really cared much about Li Yu, nor had he ever viewed him as a true opponent. That was, until the very next moment...
"Everyone, clear the way!" Li Yu roared loudly.
A multicolored orb traced a graceful arc through the air. Kemo was the first to dive out of the way. He had been keeping a close eye on that sphere, absolutely certain that the damn thing was utterly terrifying.
Shadow Kill immediately fell back as well. Given her superior speed, she managed to retreat even faster than Kemo.
As a B-tier powerhouse, how could Yu Jin retreat so easily? He merely furrowed his brow and held his ground.
Sals, functioning as the meat shield, was always at the very front. He stared blankly at the colorful orb that dropped right in front of him, feeling a bit lost.
One second... two seconds... Nothing happened. The atmosphere suddenly became quite awkward.
Looking slightly embarrassed, Li Yu commanded his Titan Symbiotic Armor to assemble a rifle and chuckled, "Sorry for the anti-climax, everyone. It seems it needs a little external force!"
Bang!
It was just an ordinary Shadow Energy Bullet, so weak it wasn't even fit to scrub Sals's back. However, the moment it struck that multicolored orb...
A blindingly brilliant light erupted, swallowing the heavens and the earth. Sals's eyes widened. He felt a brief numbness before he was completely annihilated in the flash.
Yu Jin's pupils shrank as his artificial intelligence blared frantic alarms, detecting an extreme high-energy reaction and triggering his defense systems. He slammed his hands together, and his Shipbreaker Blade transformed into a Giant Shield, with Black Crystal completely coating its surface.
The Purple-Winged Tiger roared, conjuring a purple prismatic Shield in front of itself, while the two Thunder Beasts growled nervously.
RUMBLE!
A cataclysmic storm of multicolored lightning blotted out the sky, blanketing a full five-hundred-meter radius. The sheer apocalyptic power of the blast left everyone utterly dumbfounded.
"Seems a bit intense..." Li Yu muttered. Energy truly was a wondrous thing. While compressing all the lightning from three Thunder Beasts into a single point was undeniably powerful, it shouldn't have been capable of reaching this level of devastation.
It had clearly triggered some unknown, volatile reaction...
Kansa swallowed hard repeatedly. Staring at the off-the-charts energy readings on his holographic combat visor, he was trembling with fear.
'That blast is almost on par with a Nuclear Blast Bomb. Hand-crafting a nuclear bomb... is he really this fierce?'
Kemo stared stiffly at Li Yu, who was muttering something to himself, while cold sweat poured down Kemo's back.
