Chapter 140: Yu Jin Shows His Might!
"Roar..." A wretched howl echoed across the horizon. The highly acidic rain, sentry gun fire, and brownish-yellow nerve gas permeating the air painted a scene straight out of hell.
This continuous barrage of traps had inflicted massive damage on the B-Tier Lifeform.
This was exactly why the Cosmic Colossus, despite its incredibly thick and resilient hide, was still no match for the numerous interstellar civilizations.
The might of technological weapons was the true reason numerous interstellar civilizations could proudly look down upon the Universe.
The agonizing howls gradually weakened until they vanished entirely, yet Yu Jin and his team showed no signs of joy. Kemo operated the High-Energy Detector, noting that the high-energy reaction belonging to the B-Tier Lifeform had not faded away completely.
"A Nuclear Blast Bomb is enough to instantly obliterate a normal B-Tier Lifeform head-on. Highly acidic rain is a trap that most lifeforms refuse to step foot in, not to mention all our other auxiliary attacks."
A faint red light flickered in Yu Jin's pupils, as if he had noticed something. "Yet, these attacks only managed to weaken the vital signs of this B-Tier Lifeform."
As if to verify his claim, a heavy, earth-shattering roar erupted in the next second. The resulting wind pressure swept out like a hurricane, blowing all the smoke, dust, and nerve gas in every direction.
Only then did everyone get a clear view of the B-Tier Lifeform in its entirety. Its colossal body resembled a moving mountain, appearing large enough to pierce the heavens and crush the earth.
It was a creature sporting purple wings. The recent hurricane-like pressure had not come from its roar, but from the flapping of those very wings.
It looked like a tiger covered in pale purple fur. Two massive fangs protruded from its lower jaw, and its eyes glowed a bloody red. Its thick, powerful tail slammed against the ground with every twitch, easily shaking the earth and leaving deep fissures in its wake.
However, this ferocious creature now looked rather miserable. Its purple wings were bloody, and the base of its left wing was nearly completely blown off, the bones fractured into several pieces.
Nearly sixty percent of its body fur had been singed away, with the charred black marks primarily concentrated on its back.
Its flesh had been horribly corroded. A putrid yellow liquid trickled down its skin, mixing with blood, while some areas bubbled and hissed as the acid continued to eat away at it.
"It really is a Purple-Winged Tiger..." Kansa seemed to have expected this. The Amethyst Civilization had studied the Amethyst Core for a very long time and possessed a profound understanding of it.
Naturally, they also knew about this kind of star beast that carried Amethyst Beast genes.
Compared to the Purple-Winged Tiger, they were no more than ants on the ground, yet the beast's scarlet eyes were locked dead onto them.
The intelligence of this creature was by no means low; it clearly understood exactly where the attacks had come from.
It let out a low, pained roar and spat a thick violet energy column from its maw, aiming directly at the Morcasa Camp.
"Yu Jin!"
Kansa's expression shifted slightly, and he immediately shouted in a low voice. As a member of the Amethyst Civilization's royal family, Kansa naturally had access to excellent resources.
But even now, he was merely a C-Grade Gene Evolution Body, completely incapable of resisting an attack from the Purple-Winged Tiger.
Yu Jin's gaze narrowed. His pupils mechanically contracted as streams of data flashed across his retinas.
Clack-clack-clack!
His left arm underwent a mechanical transformation. The gray Ship-breaking Blade extended layer by layer, not stopping at ten feet, but stretching out to a massive thirty-three feet in length, and it did not enter a superheated state.
The edge of the Ship-breaking Blade flipped, unexpectedly transforming into a Black Crystal blade. Seams split open on the back of Yu Jin's legs, and with a deafening roar from his Thrusters, he vaulted into the air.
This entire sequence of movements was completed in mere seconds. Just then... the massive violet energy column arrived right above everyone's heads.
"Haaah!" Yu Jin raised the thirty-three-foot-long Ship-breaking Blade. Exhaust flames spanning over a foot long erupted from his back as he slashed directly into the violet energy column.
Under the awe-struck, reverent gazes of the Molcasar soldiers, the thick violet energy column was cleaved right down the middle, scattering safely to either side.
This single strike thoroughly demonstrated the terrifying might of a B-Grade mechanical cyborg. The Black Crystal on the Ship-breaking Blade's edge seemed to be some sort of inert material, possessing unimaginably high resistance to energy attacks.
Only with that was such a shocking scene made possible. However, Mole did not look particularly pleased. Because the energy column had split past them, the camp behind them had taken a devastating blow, causing an unknown number of casualties among the Molcasar soldiers.
The Morcasa Camp was practically destroyed in an instant; it simply could not withstand such a terrifying attack.
But Yu Jin clearly did not care about that. He swung the Ship-breaking Blade in his hand. The back of his skull split open as layers of metal armor expanded to fully encase his head.
His skin folded back into armor plating, revealing precise mechanical structures underneath. His entire frame shot up by about three feet as he entered his fully combat-ready state.
The Energy Engine on his chest emanated a hazy purple glow. It looked as though an entire star system was contained within, slowly swirling about.
The Purple Star Engine, one of the technological crystallizations of the Amethyst Civilization, was a top-tier model among B-Tier Energy Engines.
Yu Jin had subjected himself to a full-body cybernetic enhancement. Generally speaking, this was a process only an A-Grade mechanical cyborg would undergo.
Aside from the most crucial organ—his brain—all of his other organs had been mechanized.
When it came to the brain, many mechanical cyborgs chose to preserve it, believing it to be their "soul." They felt that once their brain was augmented, they would no longer be themselves.
However, some mechanical cyborgs believed that consciousness itself was the "soul," and that the brain was merely a vessel, no different from any other organ. Thus, they would replace even their brains with mechanical structures.
"Kemo, attack from the flank."
"Shadow Kill, look for an opening to strike its weak points."
"Sals, support me from the front."
"Eagle Vulture..." Yu Jin paused. A cold glint flashed in his eyes, but he didn't finish his sentence.
Li Yu could feel the icy stares of Yu Jin's subordinates sweeping over him. Kemo was even more direct: "Just hide here obediently. Once we deal with this beast, it'll be your turn..."
"Thank you for your hard work, everyone..." Li Yu replied with a calm expression. Wasn't it better if he didn't have to lift a finger? Originally, he had planned to overwhelm this beast with his Xenomorph army.
But it wasn't until he saw this Purple-Winged Tiger that Li Yu realized his thoughts had been too naive. With such a massive body, a casual movement was all it would take to annihilate his Xenomorph forces.
Plans could never keep up with changes. Since the Yu Jin squad was here, the Xenomorph army could wait a little longer.
"Roar!"
The Purple-Winged Tiger let out a deafening roar and violently stomped its front paws on the ground. The already cratered earth cracked open in layered, spiderweb-like fissures.
Immediately after... pairs of black horns slowly rose from beneath the earth, and a terrible premonition welled up in everyone's hearts.
They were Thunder Beasts!
Mole's expression changed drastically. This number... there were five entire Thunder Beasts!
"It used its own energy fluctuations to mask the presence of these Thunder Beasts!" Mole looked grim.
"What a clever Purple-Winged Tiger..." Li Yu couldn't help but praise. This Purple-Winged Tiger could command the Thunder Beasts, yet it hadn't let them appear alongside it right away.
If the Thunder Beasts had emerged with it earlier, the previous attacks—while powerless against the tiger—would have instantly annihilated these subordinates.
By having them appear only now, they instantly became a force that could not be ignored. And with the arrival of the Thunder Beasts, a massive swarm of Black Lizards flooded out from the underground like a rising tide.
The highly acidic rain continued to patter down. The Thunder Beasts fared well enough, as they were protected by a thick coat of fur, but the ordinary Black Lizards had deep craters corroded right into their flesh, rapidly losing all vital signs.
"Prepare for battle!" Mole roared. The freshly devastated Morcasa Camp struggled to mobilize as Electromagnetic Cannons were pushed to the front lines.
Yu Jin's face suddenly darkened. Five more Thunder Beasts had arrived. If no one dealt with them, these beasts would cause massive trouble.
Crackling with azure lightning, the five Thunder Beasts surrounded the Purple-Winged Tiger.
Yu Jin's left hand morphed into a thick cannon barrel. Purple energy condensed within it, firing a straight beam of light directly at one of the Thunder Beasts.
Boom!
A purple diamond-shaped energy shield materialized out of thin air, completely blocking the beam. This was a protective barrier cast by the Purple-Winged Tiger.
Yu Jin had fully expected that this tiger would not stand idly by. Staring into those scarlet eyes, he could almost see a human-like mockery.
The Purple-Winged Tiger seemed to be laughing at them for preparing so many tricks, only to end up completely powerless against it.
"Hmph..." Yu Jin scoffed coldly. "You guys handle the Thunder Beasts. I'll deal with this animal."
"Boss..." The team looked at each other in dismay, but Yu Jin didn't give them a chance to speak. He was already charging toward the Purple-Winged Tiger.
Of course, they weren't worried about whether Yu Jin could win or not; they were worried about their own inability to handle the remaining Thunder Beasts.
"Focus fire on one of them first..." Kemo instructed calmly. Frigid air radiated from his body. Aside from Yu Jin, he was the top expert in the squad, possessing an Attribute Gene Chain.
However, while the idea was good, reality was cruel. Just as Kemo and the others attempted to concentrate their attacks on a single target, the rest of the Thunder Beasts stampeded toward them.
Their colossal frames brought a terrifying, oppressive weight. With electric arcs shooting everywhere, Kemo and his teammates were forced to retreat and avoid taking the brunt of the assault.
On the other side, Yu Jin wielded the Ship-breaking Blade. The Black Crystal edge had flipped back to its original state and was now superheated.
The thirty-three-foot-long Ship-breaking Blade carved a deep gash heavily into the Purple-Winged Tiger. Blood spurted out wildly, but given the tiger's gigantic size, it was merely a flesh wound.
The unbroken wing on the Purple-Winged Tiger's back whipped up a tremendous gale. Yu Jin had no choice but to engage his Thrusters to maintain his balance.
But in the very next moment, a claw the size of a mountain pillar crashed down toward him. Yu Jin had to cut his propulsion and let his body ride the wind pressure backward.
The sky flashed with blinding lightning glow, and a deafening roar erupted from behind him. A terrifying surge of lightning blasted Yu Jin right back into the strike zone of the massive claw.
His pupils shrank. With no other choice, he raised the Ship-breaking Blade and locked his other mechanical arm against the flat of the sword to block. The colossal shadow of the claw smashed him straight into the ground, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.
Yu Jin struggled as he flew out of the spiderweb-like crater. His face was thunderous as he shot a dark glare at the Thunder Beast that had just ambushed him, only to see Kemo and the others standing helplessly in the distance.
"You bunch of useless trash! Can't you keep an eye on them?!" he cursed loudly, boiling with fury.
