Chapter 186: Mo Duo Goes on a Killing Spree!
On Blazing Eye Planet, the temperature was freezing. It was a barren expanse of yellowish-brown desert where Ring Mountains could be seen everywhere, and numerous stone pillars jutted out like jagged dog teeth.
A massive cave was hidden beneath the desert. A large crowd of people in ragged clothes stood near the entrance. Many young children stood timidly at the back, but they were forcefully pushed to the front.
"Watch closely!"
A gray-haired old man shouted. His weathered face resembled wind-eroded stone, and his eye sockets were completely empty—his eyes had actually been gouged out.
Although it pained his heart, given the current situation of the Blazing Eye Clan, these young children could not be sheltered forever. They had to experience the baptism of blood and fire.
Bang—
Blood splattered as yellowish-brown leather boots planted firmly into the desert sand. The man was wrapped tightly from head to toe, his face covered in cloth bandages. He wore sunglasses and carried a battered Energy Rifle in his hands.
He withdrew his gaze from the cave and kicked over the slave trader kneeling before him.
"This is already the third batch of slave traders. These damn bastards!" someone nearby cursed angrily. The surroundings were littered with corpses, and the blood soaking into the desert dried up quickly.
"The people in the Guard Corps are a bunch of stubborn old fools, damn it all!"
"I don't know what the point of living like this is anymore. We are neither human nor ghost."
"Enough!" the man wearing sunglasses snapped coldly. The surroundings immediately fell silent. Although everyone was indignant, no one spoke another word.
"Clean up the battlefield and let's get out of here," he commanded. Everyone immediately sprang into action, efficiently stripping the bodies of weapons, equipment, and even their clothes.
Rumble!
The desert suddenly began to tremble. Sand dunes collapsed, and massive amounts of sand continuously sank inward.
"What is going on?!" someone exclaimed in terror.
"It is a horde of Biochemical Beasts!" the perimeter guards immediately roared.
"Damn it, the commotion just now must have disturbed them."
"Abandon the loot! Evacuate!" the leader shouted. Moving swiftly, he led the charge toward the cave, with the rest following closely behind.
The sound of tremors rolled in from the distance, growing louder by the second. Looking out, they saw countless ferocious beasts stampeding toward them in a massive, overwhelming tide.
...
The moment the small travel ship entered the edge of the atmosphere, it shuddered violently. Sparks erupted from the internal wiring.
The Magnetic Energy Storm was incredibly intense. The entire spaceship began to shake, and the surroundings were pitch-black, making it almost impossible to see anything.
Blazing Eye Planet had a rather high gravity, so the spaceship's descent was extremely fast. The hull let out an ear-piercing screech of friction as its edges turned crimson red, forming an arc-shaped shield of fire.
"This spaceship is truly garbage..." Li Yu lamented once again, his disgust far too obvious.
However, normally custom-made high-end spaceships were far too expensive. Unless he sold the Amethyst Core, he genuinely could not afford one.
Fortunately, the Magnetic Energy Storm was not highly destructive, acting more as a disruption. After passing through the atmosphere without any real danger, they could see the Ring Mountains on the ground and the endless stretch of desert.
...
"Hurry, hurry, hurry!"
Although the massive cave was incredibly noisy, everyone barely managed to perform their duties. The elderly and young children were escorted deep into the cavern.
Some of the women slashed through thick ropes, causing giant boulders suspended from the cave ceiling to crash down, instantly blocking more than half of the entrance.
The young and able-bodied men had prepared for battle. They clenched their fists, their eyes filled with a mixture of panic and determination.
A massive horde of Biochemical Beasts rapidly surged forward, kicking up clouds of sand and dust that blotted out the sky, rolling in like dark storm clouds.
A rough estimate put their numbers at tens of thousands at the very least. Their bestial eyes were bloodshot, their muscles bulging into grotesque forms, and thick, viscous liquid dripped from their maws. These beasts had originally been native wildlife of Blazing Eye Planet.
However, when the Morgan Family made their move against Blazing Eye Planet, they released a certain bio-virus, turning these animals into mindless Biochemical Beasts.
They would slaughter each other, and they would hunt down the slave traders or anyone else who occasionally visited the planet.
"Call the Guard Corps for backup!" someone shouted loudly.
"No!" another vehemently refused.
"Look at the time, we will all die here!"
"It is too late. Even if the Guard Corps sends reinforcements, it will be too late." The man in sunglasses shattered a nearby rock with a punch, his voice low and heavy. "We must hold the line!"
He was the first to leap down, taking his stance in front of the massive boulders. After a moment of silence, a large number of Blazing Eye Remnants jumped down after him. With their backs against the rocks, there was no retreat!
The horde of Biochemical Beasts crashed into their lines, and the battle instantly erupted. One by one, the Blazing Eye Remnants charged forward. Gory chunks of flesh and bone flew everywhere, quickly turning the area into a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
The scene was sheer chaos. The strength of these Blazing Eye Remnants was not low; in the very first moment of frontal contact, they slaughtered many of the beasts.
But the sheer volume of Biochemical Beasts was too overwhelming. They crashed forward in an endless stream. Often, before the front row of beasts could even be killed, the ones behind them were already pouncing forward.
As time ticked by, casualties began to emerge among the Blazing Eye Remnants. They were trampled and torn apart. Despair blanketed everyone, yet not a single person took a step back.
Behind the boulders, the gray-haired old man trembled uncontrollably. Although he could not see, he could vividly picture the scene outside.
Crimson tears of blood flowed from his hollow eye sockets.
"Why... why must it be like this? We just want to survive. Is that so difficult?!"
The young children around him huddled closely together. Though their faces were filled with fear, very few cried out loud, pressing their pale lips tightly together.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Just as the situation was on the verge of collapsing, an ear-piercing shriek tore through the sky, cutting clearly even through the chaotic and deafening environment.
The sound distinctly reached the ears of the Blazing Eye Remnants, prompting several of them to instinctively look up at the sky.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Missiles trailing bright exhaust flames plummeted into the Biochemical Beast horde. Towering pillars of explosive fire shot up, sending dust flying and blowing apart massive numbers of beasts.
However, compared to the colossal scale of the horde, it was merely a drop in the bucket.
"Who are they?!" The guy with the sunglasses looked up, only to see a small spaceship approaching from the distance. The missiles just now had been fired from it.
Faced with a spaceship that seemed like allied forces, he did not show a hint of joy, because the Blazing Eye Clan had long since lost all their allies!
There were only enemies, enemies, and more enemies!
Then, he saw the cargo bay doors of the small spaceship open, and dozens of figures wearing compact jetpacks dropped from the sky. Several among them wore heavy armor, and their landing zone was aimed right near the cave.
Boom, boom, boom!!
A hail of grenades fell, and blinding blasts from an Energy Cannon swept across the field, instantly clearing out an open area and leaving the ground covered in craters and cracks. The sheer momentum was breathtaking.
A figure wearing gorgeous silver-white armor was the first to land. A sea of thunder and crackling electric arcs surged in all directions, accompanied by blazing flames.
The rolling thunder and surging inferno blanketed an area hundreds of meters wide, instantly roasting the advancing Biochemical Beasts into charred husks.
Immediately after, the people wearing simple protective gear touched down.
They wielded their weapons, consisting of a diverse array of races. Brilliant lights erupted from their bodies as they all unleashed formidable combat power, instantly taking over the fight.
The seemingly unstoppable Biochemical Beasts crashed into what felt like an impenetrable wall of iron and brass.
And they literally crashed into a wall of metal. Li Ping fully transformed, becoming a silver-white metallic giant standing a solid three to four meters tall. Numerous Biochemical Beasts headbutted right into his groin and died on impact.
Mo Duo had already charged straight into the horde. Releasing her telekinesis recklessly, beast after beast standing three or four meters tall fell by her hands.
Her eyes were completely icy, suppressing boundless rage and killing intent. Everything she had just observed from the spaceship had filled her with such fury that she desperately needed an outlet to vent it.
Li Yu felt a bit helpless. Immediately, the Titan Colonization Armor divided and swiftly enveloped Mo Duo to prevent her from accidentally getting injured.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
One Biochemical Beast after another exploded around her, sending blood splattering. Not a single beast could get within a one-meter radius of her.
The spaceship had no heavy firepower, just a few missiles. Once those were used up, they had no choice but to clear the field manually.
Fortunately, even though their awakening time was not particularly long, their powers were all relatively strong. It didn't take much time for them to develop combat capabilities reaching the E and D ranks.
With a meat shield like Li Ping tanking at the very front, there wasn't much real danger.
"Who are they?"
"So strong! Look at that guy, his body can actually shoot fire!"
"Yeah, and there's one that can shoot electricity. They're amazing!"
The nearby Blazing Eye Remnants were utterly shell-shocked. Some of the slightly younger ones, who had never received formal education, didn't even recognize Espers.
"Those are Espers, born with the ability to control all sorts of peculiar powers," a slightly older person explained, feeling an inexplicable sorrow that many of the remants no longer even possessed basic common knowledge.
The debut of the Ability User Legion stunned many people, and the man wearing sunglasses was absolutely horrified internally.
He was fairly experienced and knowledgeable, so he knew that the ones manipulating fire, thunder, violent winds, and frost were Espers.
But what truly terrified him was their sheer numbers. Anyone capable of gathering so many powerful Espers together was definitely no ordinary person.
'Could it be... is the Star Glory Empire finally making their move to finish us off?'
"Hello," Li Yu said, walking over to him and extending a hand as his arm armor retracted.
"Hello..." The man reached out heavily, introducing himself as Cassili.
"You can call me Mr. Li," Li Yu nodded. The other party's hand was drenched in sweat, so he subtly had Claptrap clean his hand in mild disgust.
"So you have come after all..." Cassili's tone carried a hint of despair. Given the other party's strength, there was no way they could resist.
"You knew we were coming?" Li Yu was slightly surprised. Were the Blazing Eye people really that incredible? Could they even see the future?
Cassili sighed dejectedly. "I guessed as much. There was no way you would just sit back and watch us eke out a miserable existence here. I knew you would strike eventually."
Li Yu had a strange look on his face. They weren't saints, and even Mo Duo had gone through a lot before making up her mind to shoulder her responsibilities.
Why were these people so certain that they would intervene?
"Please let the children go, they are still young..." Cassili pleaded, his voice tinged with sorrow.
"Huh?" Li Yu looked a little confused. But before he could explain...
A deafening roar suddenly erupted from the desert. A small sand dune bulged upward, violently shoving massive numbers of Biochemical Beasts aside.
Cassili looked even more horrified, the despair on his face deepening. "It is a Sand Bull Beast!"
Boom!
Sand and dust churned as a bizarre creature leapt out, letting loose a bellow that sounded like a cow's moo. It stood nearly a hundred meters tall.
The Sand Bull Beast had a grotesque appearance. Its brown body stretched nearly a hundred meters long, devoid of any scales or hair.
Its skin looked like stacked boulders, with crimson light glowing from the crevices, and it sported a pair of gigantic horns.
The moment it appeared, it flipped numerous Biochemical Beasts to the ground and stomped them to death, displaying absolute brutality.
"Hah!"
Mo Duo was already on a killing spree. Without a moment's hesitation, Light Blades extended from the divided segments of the Titan Colonization Armor as she slashed straight at it.
The strike landed squarely on the Sand Bull Beast's body, but the blades instantly shattered into motes of light. The beast remained completely unscathed, not even knocked back in the slightest.
Li Yu frowned slightly. Two rows of thruster vents opened on his back, spewing turbulent streams of air. The Ship-breaking Blade instantly deployed as he delivered a vicious hack directly into the beast's massive horn.
"Moo—Roar!"
One of the massive horns snapped, erupting in a dazzling spray of blood. The Sand Bull Beast violently recoiled, curling its body inward into a contorted posture.
Suddenly, the light beneath the beast's rocky skin magnified dozens of times over. It was like a flashbang had detonated out of nowhere, overwhelmingly blinding.
A colossal force abruptly lashed out, shoving Mo Duo away and sending her crashing hard back-first into the sand.
"It's angry," Li Yu chuckled lightly. He had gauged its true strength; it was nothing more than a slightly stronger C-Tier Lifeform.
There was no need for him to intervene. He would leave it to Mo Duo to vent... Hmm... that might be a bit dangerous. It would be better to have the Ability User Legion provide cover fire from the sidelines.
Li Ping sprang upward, landing directly on the Sand Bull Beast. Close combat was his forte. His arms transformed into metallic longblades, whirling like a hurricane. His vigorous strength surged endlessly like a crashing tide—sharp, oppressive, and continuous.
He hacked and slashed his way along the creature's rocky spine. Although to the beast, the force of his blows felt no different from a rough massage, it at least looked imposing.
The Sand Bull Beast was not slow in its movements. It continually thrashed its body around, forcing Li Ping to temporarily halt his assault just to maintain his balance.
By comparison, Mo Duo played a much more significant role. She effortlessly flew up to the beast's head, aimed at its broken horn, and gently raised her hands.
In the next split second, highly compressed telekinesis burst from her palms in a blinding flash of light.
A chain reaction of explosions ripped through the air, blasting the beast until its entire body convulsed. All around it, numerous Espers were providing continuous fire support.
The group besieged the Sand Bull Beast, fighting with fierce enthusiasm. Eruptions of telekinesis, volleys of bullets, sweeping metallic longblades, and blasts of energy relentlessly chased down the massive creature, blooming into brilliant clusters of light on impact.
On the other side, Cassili watched completely dumbfounded. He never imagined this group of people would be so powerful. At the same time, an even heavier wave of despair crashed over him.
"Right, I forgot to mention earlier—we are not from the Star Glory Empire," Li Yu finally explained upon returning.
"Not from the Star Glory Empire?" Cassili was slightly suspicious. "Then who are you, and why are you helping us out of nowhere?"
"Out of nowhere?" Li Yu shook his head and was just about to speak.
A massive rumble echoed from afar as the colossal form of the Sand Bull Beast collapsed. Torrents of blood poured from its head as its carcass convulsed uncontrollably.
Mo Duo stood atop its fallen head. The armor covering her face retracted layer by layer, revealing her delicate features, which were currently frozen in cold, terrifying killing intent.
The area was littered with the corpses of Biochemical Beasts. The scene truly embodied a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
Li Yu's lips curled into a subtle smile as he pointed toward Mo Duo.
Confused, Cassili looked over. The moment his gaze landed on Mo Duo's blazing crimson eyes, his pupils violently contracted.
His entire body stiffened. Unable to believe his own eyes, his lips trembled as he stared wide-eyed.
"She is actually... one of our tribesmen?!"
