Chapter 187: Keller's Breakdown
After stepping onto the Blazing Eye Star, they quickly noticed that something was wrong. After all, even from a distance, they could see the overwhelming sandstorms blanketing the sky.
Through the spaceship's Detection Telescope, the Blazing Eye Remnants struggling desperately for survival were clearly visible. Mo Duo, whose emotions were already in turmoil, could no longer hold back and was ready to rush down and start slaughtering.
The strength of this group of biochemical beasts was not particularly great. The biochemical weapons used by the Morgan Family were likely basic types without any evolutionary potential.
Otherwise, if it were something like the T-Virus, who knew what kind of monsters would have evolved over the past ten years.
Li Yu naturally did not mind letting Mo Duo vent the resentment in her heart. Being constantly angry was bad for a girl's skin, after all.
"She..." Cassili started to speak, but for a moment, he did not know what to say. He stared at Mo Duo, who was standing on the corpse of a Sand Bull Beast.
The powerful Sand Bull Beast had been swiftly and efficiently annihilated. Was she really one of his Tribesmen?
"We can talk about the details later. Let's handle the situation here first," Li Yu said.
"Alright." Cassili could only temporarily suppress his belly full of questions.
Li Yu took in the situation at a glance. This pack of biochemical beasts posed no major threat. The Blazing Eye Remnants might not be able to stop the horde, but to the Esper Group under his command, it was just an appetizer.
These biochemical beasts were generally only F-class lifeforms, with a few powerful ones barely qualifying as E-Class Lifeforms.
In his current eyes, they were nothing.
The Esper Group unleashed their full array of abilities. Elemental cannons pierced through the beast horde, and Fireballs bombarded them like missiles. The tremendous impacts shattered the biochemical beasts one by one. Deafening booms shook the Earth, completely drowning out the wretched howls of the pack.
Hunter wore lightweight black Armor. The Thrusters on his legs left behind over a dozen afterimages as his broken mechanical blade was coated in a gloomy Dark Radiance.
He slithered rapidly past the beasts like a snake, leaving shallow wounds on their skin. However, his technique had already sent the cutting force straight into their hearts.
Although it was just a shallow slash, the high-frequency oscillation blade had pierced through flesh and blood, leaving a transverse incision inside the biochemical beasts. They suffered massive internal bleeding, while no severe injuries were visible on the outside.
Any beast he sliced would crash to the Ground the very next moment. His attacks seemed ordinary but were incredibly ruthless.
Although the miserable Hunter had his Gene Chain extracted and his Superpower was a rather useless invisibility, his skills were still intact. The Strength he displayed while wearing the Armor was... well... actually just so-so.
With the strength of an F+ Grade Lifeform, plus the auxiliary Armor, he was probably at the E- Rank. Fighting these trash-tier beasts was no problem for him.
This was the Armor he had swiped from Mangu, and to get it, he had been forced to sacrifice a bit of his dignity and charm.
On the other side, Li Ping let out a roar. His metallic body continuously expanded. As his skin hardened, it could even transform into various metal Weapons. In front of him, these biochemical beasts were nothing more than large dogs.
His hands morphed into silver metal battle axes the size of doors. He repeatedly unleashed violent attacks, his metallic body entirely dyed in a bloody hue.
He sent biochemical beast after biochemical beast flying through the air, crashing heavily onto the Ground like he was a rampaging truck.
Li Ping used to be just an ordinary Spaceship salesman and didn't know any combat techniques. His movements were violent and barbaric, but combined with his metallic body, there was an inexplicable aesthetic to it—savage and brutal.
Li Yu took a careful look and confirmed he didn't need to make a move himself. Mo Duo leaped down from the Sand Bull Beast's body and joined the fray, causing the biochemical beasts to be wiped out even faster.
The originally tricky emergency was swiftly and efficiently resolved by Li Yu's group. Every last biochemical beast was slaughtered cleanly.
Fortunately, Li Yu and the others had arrived in time. The number of casualties among the Blazing Eye Remnants was not high, roughly around a hundred, yet Cassili remained grieving and heavy-hearted.
Outside the Cave, the Ground was a mess. The Desert had been dyed blood-red, and harsh screeches echoed from the sky. It was a type of scavenging bird that looked a lot like a vulture.
Cassili called upon the Blazing Eye Remnants to clean up the battlefield. Most of the meat from these biochemical beasts was inedible; consuming it would cause infection, turning the eater into a bloodthirsty monster.
However, according to the prolonged experiments of the Blazing Eye Remnants, certain parts could still be eaten. It was just that the edible proportion on a biochemical beast was incredibly small, making up only about one percent.
The Blazing Eye Remnants cast wary glances at Li Yu and his group. Although they had learned from their Leader that these people were not enemies, they still did not dare to relax.
"His white Armor is so cool, and it even has a cape. It feels way stronger than the Armor those Slave Traders wear," one whispered.
Many young boys and girls subtly cast envious gazes toward Li Yu. They lacked the vigilance of the elders and were simply filled with envy for the Titan Colonization Armor he wore.
"That girl is so pretty! Her eyes are just like ours. Is she one of our Tribesmen?!" A portion of the Blazing Eye Remnants only now noticed the murderous Mo Duo.
They couldn't be more familiar with the blazing red eyes on Mo Duo's face. Immediately, they felt a mix of excitement and awe.
Mo Duo surveyed the ragged youths. Her feelings were complicated, but not knowing how to speak up, she could only remain silent.
Having completed their mission, the Esper Group stood to the side under Li Ping's leadership. Their discipline was strict, though occasionally, someone would cast a fanatical gaze at Li Yu.
And when Li Yu's helmet retracted, he instantly attracted the attention of even more young girls. His warm smile and profound eyes were like Cupid's arrows piercing their hearts.
'This superstar face really is quite useful...' Li Yu thought to himself as he noticed the gazes around him.
Meanwhile, when Hunter took off his own helmet, the attention on him immediately halved, and faint whispers could be heard.
"Ah... why is he bald..." a girl sighed, her amber eyes filled with disappointment.
"Keep your voice down, they just saved us," a companion beside her softly scolded.
"Oh, right..."
Ultimately, it was an energetic age. They still didn't understand the burdens they carried. A few adults reprimanded them, and the chatter gradually died down.
Expressionless, Hunter said to Mo Duo, "Your Tribesmen are quite impolite."
"They're just speaking the truth," Mo Duo replied, equally expressionless as she walked toward Li Yu.
"Very impolite indeed." Hunter rubbed his bald head, raised his hand, and tapped twice on his Smart Terminal.
"Claptrap, prepare for landing..."
"Yes, Mr. Hunter," Claptrap replied. The small travel Spaceship hovering in the sky began its slow descent.
Rumble!
A massive cloud of dust was kicked up as the mottled yellow ship touched down. Peyton, along with Sinai and her daughter, stepped out.
The surrounding Blood Sea-like scene instantly caused Sinai to turn pale in shock. She tried to cover Keller's eyes. Although Keller was afraid, her little face was somewhat flushed.
The blood flow in her entire body accelerated. She sniffed the air, an unnatural look of intoxication appearing on her face.
She slowly raised her hand. Astonishingly, the blood that had seeped into the sand was drawn out again, converging into Keller's palm.
"Look... this blood..." some of the Blazing Eye Remnants cried out in terror. They had no idea what was happening; it completely exceeded their comprehension.
Sinai was at a loss. Seeing Keller slip into this bizarre state, she didn't know what to do and could only cast a pleading glance at Peyton beside her.
Although this guy frequently drew her daughter's blood, he should know what was going on in this situation.
"She's probably never experienced a river of blood on this scale before. Some instincts have awakened. Don't worry about it," Peyton said.
Peyton indeed understood perfectly. Even though he really didn't want to converse with this walking mass of carbohydrates, realizing he still needed her daughter's cooperation in the future, he patiently explained.
"Is it really nothing to worry about?" Sinai tried to wake Keller, but it was useless. She had already bitten her lower lip until it bled.
Too lazy to elaborate further, Peyton stared at Keller with great interest, seemingly recording the characteristics of this state.
"What's going on?" The commotion here attracted Li Yu's attention, and he walked over with Cassili.
"Disperse, it's nothing! Hurry up and clean the battlefield so we can evacuate as soon as possible!" Cassili scolded, as quite a few Blazing Eye Remnants had already gathered around.
To Li Yu, Peyton was more than happy to explain, "Her Blood-Drawing Instinct has awakened. She can strengthen herself through the blood of other creatures. However, this blood is laced with a highly toxic biochemical poison. Even Blood Descendants past the hundredth generation wouldn't bat an eye at it, so she definitely won't either."
Sure enough, Keller's little nose sniffed the large glob of blood in her hand, and a highly expressive look of disgust appeared on her face.
The next moment, the large mass of blood fell back into the Desert and quickly dried up.
However, Keller's movements didn't stop. With vacant eyes, she walked toward the Sand Dragon Beast. Blood pooled beneath her feet, forming a staircase.
"She must have taken a fancy to that Ferocious Beast's blood..." Peyton said with a hint of anticipation.
"Is she... going to drink the blood?" Sinai asked hesitantly, her face full of anxiety and concern.
"It's absorbing blood..." Peyton corrected. "Only a Blood Servant drinks blood; Blood Descendants aren't that crude."
Sinai blinked. 'Is there a difference?'
Due to the sweltering air, a fine layer of sweat had already formed on her fair neck. Her hair stuck to her forehead, and her clothes gradually clung to her skin.
Keller raised her tender hand and extracted a large mass of fresh blood from the corpse of the Sand Bull Beast. She sniffed it. After all, it was blood from a corpse, so she was still somewhat repulsed, but she ultimately stuck her pinky finger into the blood mass.
Immediately, an intoxicated expression washed over her little face as the blood flowed along her finger and merged into her Corporeal Form.
Li Yu had a bizarre expression. This look was just too corrupted. He seemed to want to say something but ultimately kept his mouth shut.
According to Peyton, this was a normal phenomenon, and trying to stop it would lead to unpredictable consequences, so Sinai could only watch helplessly.
"This ship is getting scarier by the day," Hunter muttered.
Keller's condition didn't last too long. After absorbing roughly ten liters of blood, she stopped.
Even though she had absorbed so much blood, her body didn't undergo any changes. She was still tiny, only looking slightly bewildered once clarity returned to her eyes.
"Huh, how did I get here..." she murmured, looking around. Only after spotting Sinai did her panicked expression ease slightly. The moment she lifted her leg, she zipped over like a bullet.
Li Yu's figure blurred, instantly snatching the little pudding out of the air. At her speed, she probably would have shattered Sinai upon impact.
"If you don't want to knock your mother's intestines out, be careful..."
Li Yu ruthlessly flicked her forehead, then stretched her chubby cheeks outwards. Keller pouted, looking like she wanted to cry but didn't dare to.
Li Yu tossed her over to Peyton, instructing, "Make sure she learns to control her strength."
That Grand Duke of Blood really had some tricks up his sleeve. As his Descendant, Keller's strength had likely already reached the F+ Grade. The Amplification in her power was massive—many adults couldn't even reach this level.
Not bad... She was a stock with high potential.
During the time Keller had delayed them, the Blazing Eye Remnants had almost finished cleaning up the battlefield. They only took the edible cuts of meat from a few corpses, leaving the vast majority of the bodies untouched where they lay.
Staying on the Ground for too long made it easy to be discovered by warships patrolling the Space Orbit. The Blazing Eye Remnants prepared to leave as soon as they packed up.
After Li Yu and Mo Duo exchanged opinions, they expressed a desire to check behind the giant stone. This proposal, however, made Cassili turn slightly pale in shock.
He discussed it for a moment with several highly respected Tribesmen, leading to a fierce argument.
Although Li Yu and the others had just saved them, they were still unsure of their origins.
They maintained a strong vigilance against the outside world and would not easily trust anyone.
The majority opinion was to ask about their intentions and then offer whatever help they could, but they were unwilling to lead them behind the giant stone. After all, hidden behind the giant stone were the Seeds of the Clan.
But Cassili understood that the other party's strength far exceeded theirs. This simply wasn't a multiple-choice question. He had no idea what the consequences would be if they refused.
Ultimately, they decided to agree to Li Yu's request. At least while the other party hadn't shown any hostility, Cassili didn't want to start a fight.
The small travel Spaceship was temporarily camouflaged. The group followed the Blazing Eye Remnants over the giant stone and entered the Cave.
Many Young Children and elderly people were hiding behind the giant stone. The Young Children were filthy, their faces covered in mud and their hair in a messy tangle, appearing as if they hadn't bathed in a very long time.
Upon seeing this scene, Mo Duo's heart gave a violent lurch, as if squeezed by a tight grip. However, the rest of the Blazing Eye Remnants seemed used to it and paid it no mind.
"Cassili, what happened? What happened?" shouted an old man with hollow eye sockets, having only heard the incoherent babbling of the Young Children.
He only knew that the danger had passed, but they had no idea what exactly had occurred.
"Uncle Colin, it's alright now. Someone helped us," Cassili hurried over to meet him. This eyeless elder seemed to command immense prestige, so Cassili did not dare to neglect him and quickly explained.
"Colin..." Mo Duo stared at the old man, as if recalling something.
Cassili got everyone moving; they needed to prepare for evacuation.
The depths of the Cave connected to an intricate network of underground tunnels. Through these passages, they could travel to many different places.
Otherwise, relying solely on this single Cave, it would have been nearly impossible for them to survive.
The population of this group of Blazing Eye Remnants was not large, only numbering around a thousand. Losing a hundred people just now had already dealt a massive blow to their vitality.
