Chapter 53: Navigator!

~8 min read 1,443 words

"Elder Sister Widow, it is rare for you to reach out to me first..." Li Yu sat in his chair, ignoring Mo Duo's weird gaze, and spoke in a leisurely tone.

"You dare to play us?!" Widow's attitude was fierce. Her shrill voice almost shattered the limits of the Smart Terminal, delivering an astonishing level of mental pollution.

"What are you talking about?" Li Yu asked in confusion.

"Do not play dumb with me, I am talking about last night!" Widow panted heavily. The screen on her end remained pitch black.

"Huh? Have you not already left Heavenly Desolation Star? Does what happened last night have anything to do with you?" Li Yu shot back, choking off her momentum.

When he baited Widow last night, he had not mentioned this matter at all. Now, his words forced her to pause.

"We once thought highly of you. Making a fool out of us is not a very wise choice." Widow calmed down significantly.

Li Yu smiled and spread his hands. "I already told you yesterday that I was not entirely sure about the information myself."

"You could not hold yourselves back, so you are blaming me?"

"What the hell is the use of that? Can your high opinion safely rescue me from this place?"

Silence fell over the line. To Li Yu, the Mithril Church might indeed be a colossal behemoth, but right now, they were completely useless to him.

If it were not for that exiled Imperial Noble, it was hard to say whether Heavenly Desolation Star could even maintain its current eerie peace. If Dark Star decided to start a massacre, everyone would be finished.

"I am a man of my word. I will return the favor I owe you." Li Yu rapped his knuckles on the table. "If you have any instructions within my capabilities, I will do my absolute best."

A brief silence lingered in the darkness before Widow's voice transmitted over once more. "Fine, remember what you just said."

Widow intended to end the call, but Li Yu stopped her. "I have a few questions."

The black screen fell dead silent. She seemingly could not comprehend how this guy could be so thick-skinned. He had just angrily scolded them, and now he was asking for favors?

Li Yu ignored the silence on the other end and asked directly, "Did anyone from the Star Glory Empire show up yesterday?"

"Who does the Ghost Squad serve?"

"Why was the Imperial Noble exiled?"

He fired off three questions in a row, each one probing deeper than the last.

"Li Yu!" Widow finally snapped, shouting, "I am not your informant!"

Since he was asking for a favor, Li Yu did not lose his temper. "Did you not say you thought highly of me? How about some investment then? You cannot just offer empty words."

"Given the current situation, telling me will not cost you anything."

Mo Duo looked utterly speechless. How could anyone be so shameless?

The black screen remained dormant for a long time before Widow's icy voice finally echoed out.

"No..."

"We are not clear on that either. We are still investigating..."

"We do not know the exact details, but rumor has it that it involves a woman."

Click. The black screen turned off completely as Widow abruptly ended the transmission.

However, Li Yu showed no reaction. His eyes lost their focus, and if one looked closely, they could see blurry golden particles beginning to burn deep within his pupils.

Li Yu had no idea what was happening to him. He was completely fine when he heard Widow's first two answers, but the moment she spoke her last sentence, his vision suddenly blurred.

The accumulated Spice within his mind abruptly ignited, transforming into some kind of fuel.

A silent street, devoid of people. His vision was hazy, bouncing up and down periodically.

Blue Sky Genetics. He caught a glimpse of the name on a towering skyscraper, projected through a massive hologram. Flashes of ferocious lifeforms flickered past, accompanied by the occasional scrolling advertisement.

His line of sight descended into a basement beneath the building. Quite a few members of various interstellar races were gathered here, waiting in line.

Everyone bore varying degrees of injuries. His vision phased right through the basement walls and entered the inner room.

The room was neat, though relatively small, and equipped with various medical instruments. On the medical bed in the center, a doctor was murmuring something in a low voice, using a white protein thread to suture a torn flap of skin.

"...You... are fine... from now on..."

The voice was muffled but incredibly gentle. The doctor wore a surgical mask, hiding his features. Yet, even the simple act of suturing a wound carried an indescribable elegance.

The interstellar human on the operating table expressed his gratitude with a pale face, stumbled off the bed, and left the room.

Just as Li Yu was forming a theory, a sharp pain pierced his skull. His vision was violently ripped away, snapping back into crystal clarity. Mo Duo was standing before him, frowning and calling his name.

"What are you doing?" Li Yu demanded, catching sight of Mo Duo's raised hand.

"Nothing..." Mo Duo smoothly transitioned her raised hand into massaging her own shoulder, her expression completely blank.

"Damn it..." He clutched his head, feeling as though his brain had turned into a barren desert. His mental power had been entirely drained.

He could clearly sense that about half of the substantial Spice reserves in his mind had been consumed.

"Use your mental power carefully..." Mo Duo reminded him upon seeing his condition.

"I know..." Li Yu shook his head and sat down next to Mo Duo. Her expression shifted slightly, and she turned her head away.

'Is this the Navigator Talent? That is absolutely incredible...'

He speculated internally. That unassuming doctor was, in all likelihood, the exiled Imperial Noble.

'I just do not know what the prerequisite conditions are to trigger the Navigator...'

Blue Sky Gene Tower... Right now, he was a step ahead of everyone else.

"You guys..." Hunter had just pushed the door open when he saw the two of them sitting on the bed. His face flashed with awkwardness as he pulled down the brim of his hat.

Mo Duo felt a surge of frustration. What kind of dirty thoughts was this creepy old man having now?! His emotional fluctuations were all over the place!

"Did something happen?" Li Yu asked.

"Those fighters outside are staring at us like they want to eat us alive," Hunter said, his heart pounding. He had been terrified while hiding in his room.

Mo Duo shook her head. "It is fine. Tu Rui has no murderous intent toward us, so those fighters will not make a move."

"How do you know that?" Hunter shot back at Mo Duo.

"Even an idiot would know that..." Li Yu shook his head. "That is not important anyway. Even though Tu Rui has no intention of killing us for now, we cannot stay here any longer."

That single sentence managed to insult both of them, leaving Mo Duo and Hunter utterly speechless.

'Were you not the one who wanted to seek out Tu Rui in the first place? And now you are the one wanting to leave...' Hunter grumbled in his heart, though he did not dare say it aloud.

Initially, Li Yu had not known the location of the Imperial Noble. Finding Tu Rui was just a way to gather more strength and secure some cannon fodder.

But now that he already knew where the Imperial Noble was, what was the point of sticking around Tu Rui?

In Tu Rui's room, he stood by the window, muttering softly into his communicator.

"That is right, he is with me..."

"Yesterday was an accident..."

"I only have two demands..."

Hanging up the call, Tu Rui turned around and looked at the Little Demon Giant resting on the bed. A rare look of gentle warmth surfaced in his eyes.

Following the unexpected events of yesterday, he had already sensed some underlying issues that did not quite add up.

For example... why were there no people from the Star Glory Empire? No matter what, it was impossible for the Imperial Noble to be acquired by Dark Star, so where did the Star Glory Empire's people go?

They did not send anyone? Impossible!

This place had become a vortex of trouble. The ambitions that Li Yu had ignited within him had already withered away. Leaving this planet had now become his utmost priority.

What Second-Class Citizen status? Was it more important than his son's life?
