Chapter 37

~6 min read 1,101 words

What else can we do? We’ve broken all his limbs—he’s not going anywhere, even if he’s tough as nails. We can just say it was an accident during the fight.

Zhang Xiaofan looked at the fallen scorpion with casual indifference.

“Big brother, calm down first—we still need to extract info from him, like details about the Arctic Bear Company. Without his limbs, he’s got no chance of survival anyway.”

Zhang Chu’an quickly urged.

After a while, the scorpion slowly opened his eyes—he was tied up, and his clothes and pants had vanished.

Before him stood three men; one of them rubbed his hands with a lewd expression. The scorpion had traveled far and wide and had seen plenty.

Among mercenaries, perverted personalities were common, and there were always those interested in men—Zhang Chu’an’s lewd expression matched theirs exactly.

The scorpion suddenly realized he had fears he couldn’t overcome—he could abandon his honor for money or survival, but losing his chastity was unbearable.

Zhang Chu’an gently caressed the scorpion’s face and said tenderly, “Baby, don’t be nervous—I’ll be very gentle.”

“No, don’t come near me! I have money—I have a lot of money! I’ll give you all of it! Please don’t do this!”

The scorpion screamed in terror—he would rather be cut to pieces a thousand times than endure this torment.

Zhang Chu’an sneered, “You have money? What money? Weren’t you sent by the Arctic Bear Company to act as bodyguard for a man named Liu Haisheng?”

Guo Jing chimed in quickly, “Your movements were already betrayed to us by Arctic Bear. Your money’s already been taken by them. What can you possibly give us?”

After Guo Jing finished speaking, he stared intently at him. The scorpion, desperate to preserve his chastity, quickly pledged loyalty:

“I’m an excellent soldier—I can serve you.”

“If you’re such an excellent soldier, how did you get captured so easily?”

Zhang Xiaofan shot back immediately.

“Besides, why should we trust you?”

Zhang Chu’an asked at once.

“I’ll give you every piece of intelligence I know about Arctic Bear—you can destroy them completely.”

To preserve his chastity, the scorpion betrayed his former employer without hesitation.

The three exchanged glances and smiled—mission accomplished.

On the other side, Director Wen and Nie Huaishang, accompanied by Wang Yadong and a large police contingent, headed toward the seaside.

On the way, Wang Yadong curiously asked Nie Huaishang, “I made this secret passage extremely discreet—how did you find out about it?”

“If you don’t want anyone to know, don’t do it in the first place. I have my methods—but why should I tell you?”

Nie Huaishang replied calmly.

Wang Yadong, sensing he was out of place, dropped the subject. He no longer cared about the scorpion’s fate either.

The person ahead must have stationed enough men at the escape exit—the scorpion, no matter how skilled, couldn’t possibly escape.

Meanwhile, on the chat group, Zhang Chu’an was mocking the scorpion.

Zhang Chu’an: “This guy’s supposed to be a top assassin? I just slapped his face to scare him, and he confessed everything.”

Guo Jing: “You call that scaring him? Zhang Xiaofan and I thought you were actually going to do it.”

Zhang Chu’an: “To deal with guys like him, you have to make him know you have no limits—and that you’re a psychopath.”

Nie Huaishang: “A psychopath? Looks like your methods are extraordinary, Zhang Chu’an.”

Guo Jing: “Forget it—you’ll understand once you get here.”

When Nie Huaishang arrived in person, he finally understood what Zhang Chu’an meant by “psychopath.”

The female officers immediately blushed and turned away. Director Wen and Wang Yadong beside Nie Huaishang wore complex expressions.

They never imagined the scorpion would be treated this way—naked and hanging from a tree.

Director Wen stammered as he approached Guo Jing and the other two:

“Why did you do this?”

The scene was beyond anyone’s expectations.

Facing the stunned stares and Director Wen’s accusation, Zhang Chu’an chuckled awkwardly and explained:

“The scorpion’s too cunning. To prevent his escape and extract intel, we had no choice but to do this.”

At that moment, the scorpion hanging from the tree realized the three were all police officers—his earlier ordeal had just been intimidation.

But it was too late—he’d already confessed everything, and now he was in police hands. Given his past crimes, death was inevitable.

The backup team immediately dragged the scorpion into a police car. Nie Huaishang and the others followed Director Wen to the police headquarters.

“I never thought all our planning would be outdone by your knowledge and insight.”

Director Wen’s tone carried three parts admiration and seven parts envy.

“Don’t flatter us, Director Wen—we just stumbled upon the escape route by accident.”

Guo Jing replied modestly.

Hearing this, Director Wen burst out laughing:

“Enough with the modesty—that’s your skill. Don’t downplay it. I’ll call your military command right now to recommend you for honors.”

After dialing He Zhijun’s number, he informed him of the events: the capture of the scorpion, Ruan Wenxiong, and the intelligence on the Arctic Bear Company.

With this intelligence, they would deliver a devastating blow to the Arctic Bear Company.

On the other end of the line, He Zhijun was deeply moved—he never expected these four had actually pulled it off.

He Zhijun turned to his orderly and said, “Go get Senior Captain Gao and Deputy Chief Fan to come see me.”

Soon after, Fan Tianlei and Doghead Gao entered He Zhijun’s office and saw their commander beaming.

Without preamble, He Zhijun said bluntly:

“I’ve got good news: the scorpion, Ruan Wenxiong, has been captured by Nie Huaishang and his team.”

“Really?”

Fan Tianlei cried out in excitement—it was no wonder. His old comrade and his son had both died at the scorpion’s hands; his hatred for the scorpion was boundless.

Doghead Gao beside him was equally stunned—after all, this was the infamous scorpion.

The police had spent years trying to catch him; Nie Huaishang’s team captured him in less than two months.

And from the commander’s tone, they’d also extracted intelligence on the Arctic Bear Company—they’d soon uproot it entirely.

Nie Huaishang truly didn’t act unless he acted spectacularly.

Black Cat and his K2, the scorpion and the Arctic Bear Company—all were world-renowned names.

Fan Tianlei, trembling with emotion, begged He Zhijun: “Commander, I want to go to the police headquarters—I want to execute the scorpion myself.”

His voice brimmed with hatred for the scorpion.

Seeing Fan Tianlei’s determination, He Zhijun didn’t refuse—he said, “I’ll go with you and Doghead Gao. We’ll also pay our four heroes a visit—they’re the reason we caught the scorpion at all.”
