Chapter 156: The Evolved Lei Long

"The final turn?" Even the battle observer and referee, Lei Lei Zhenlong, couldn't help but voice his doubt.

This was an obvious matter.

"The final turn? Your hand has only one card, and your Fusion card was spent to rescue and aid your companion."

"Moreover, even the monster cards in your graveyard that could've served as Fusion materials were recovered by your companion." Nine-Snake Kong Que spoke with growing disbelief.

"Not only that, your Trump monster, Gem Knight Prism, was sent to Alexis Rhodes's Extra Deck—what can you possibly do now?" Bai Nianlong also spoke up.

"Worse still, you can't even draw a card!"

Hearing these mounting disadvantages, Tian Tiancheng Guang showed no fear—only spoke calmly.

"Does it matter?"

"Doesn't it matter!?" Both guardians were stunned; Nine-Snake Kong Que's feathers stood rigidly erect. "If you could end the duel this turn, why didn't you do it last turn!? Whatever Fusion card you hold in hand can't possibly save this situation!"

A group of spirits gathered around Tian Tiancheng Guang, murmuring in unison: "Yes, yes!"

"Too naive!"

"Fusion has no limits!"

"If my senior entrusted this critical moment to me, then victory is certain!"

Tian Tiancheng Guang shouted: "If it's Fusion, even with just this field, there's absolutely no problem!"

No, no, no—

The group of spirits couldn't help but shake their heads in unison.

This has nothing to do with 【Fusion】 at all!?!

At that moment—

Tierra noticed a sneaky golden sphere. She glanced at it, lifted her hand slightly, and snapped her fingers. Instantly, the giant demon beneath Tian Tiancheng Guang shifted slightly, tilting his body half a degree.

The lightning sphere, seeing this, became instantly agitated, moving faster and faster, charging straight toward Tian Tiancheng Guang.

"Little Yuan!?"

Several elder spirits recognized it—the spirit who was always lively, endlessly curious, yet had long remained unnoticed, the oldest among the spirits and the one most likely to "evolve," was now charging with all its might toward Tian Tiancheng Guang.

Tian Tiancheng Guang was struck by the golden lightning sphere. He suddenly looked down at the card in his deck: Lei Guang.

Lei Lei Zhenlong slowly retracted its dragon head.

A seeker of ultimate Fusion?

Perhaps he is the one we've all been waiting for—the one who can change the current state?

"I activate my face-down card!"

Tian Tiancheng Guang's eyes flashed with electric current: "Normal Magic Card!"

"Pot of Greed!"

"Pot of Greed!?"

"What? Why is it Pot of Greed!?"

"No way—he actually—"

Yes!

The face-down card covered by Tian Tian Shangyuan Chui Xue was none other than the card known to countless players—Pot of Greed!

"A card that lets you draw two cards for free—this human didn't use it in his own turn, but saved it for his companion!?"

"If he draws something useful, he'll win for sure!?"

Both guardians widened their eyes.

They never imagined—

Tian Tian Shangyuan Chui Xue had left behind THIS!

To be honest, Tian Tiancheng Guang hadn't expected it either—

But it had happened!

This was the first time Jaden Yuki had used this card in this world. Honestly, a card banned in his own world, one that would be absorbed by Super Fusion here, surprisingly had a chance to be used! It filled him with exhilaration!

Like a TCG player drawing "Adder's G" for the first time in Master Duel—pure joy!

"Effect of Pot of Greed: Draw two cards!"

He yanked two cards from his deck, glanced at them—and froze.

The card crackling with lightning—wasn't it Lei Lei Yuanlong—Lei Long?

Could it be—

He looked at Tierra. She tilted her head, feigning ignorance. He was momentarily speechless, then looked back at the card. Seeing the image and cheers emerging from it, he understood what had happened.

It seems it has chosen to follow me beyond the 【Mountain】!

"Alright, then—I activate the Magic Card in my graveyard: Lei Long Fusion!"

"To activate, exclude this card from the graveyard, provided it wasn't sent there this turn. Add one Lightning-Type monster from your deck to your hand!"

"I add Lei Long from my deck to my hand!"

He pulled Lei Long from his deck into his hand.

Then he revealed his hand: "Next, I Normal Summon—Lei Lei Yuanlong—Lei Long!"

A golden sphere of lightning appeared on Tian Tiancheng Guang's field. The surrounding spirits gasped in shock.

"Little Yuan!?"

"How did you get over there—"

Several elder spirits looked frantic.

"No need to panic," thundered Lei Lei Zhenlong's voice across the heavens and earth. "It has made its own choice."

"Next, activate the effect of Lei Long in my hand: discard it to add up to two Lei Long cards from my deck to my hand!"

"I add two more Lei Long cards to my hand!"

"Next, Magic Card: Fusion!"

The most fundamental Fusion—that's it!

"Using the most primitive Fusion?"

"Trying to summon Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, then?" Bai Nianlong flapped its wings. "But even Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon can't defeat us this turn."

After all, Double-Headed Lei Long's ATK is 2800, while Dark God Bird has 2700 ATK—and both have 2000 LP left. They're perfectly safe.

Tian Tiancheng Guang paid no heed to their words, continuing his move.

"I Fusion Summon these two Lei Long cards in my hand!"

"Fusion requirement: two Lei Long monsters!"

"Fusion Summon!"

"Level 7, Double-Headed Lei Long!"

The classic double-headed dragon from the little car appeared on Tian Tiancheng Guang's field, wielding lightning and commanding storms.

Double-Headed Lei Long, Level 7, Light Attribute, Lightning-Type, ATK 2800.

"So, Double-Headed Lei Long is useless too?" Nine-Snake Kong Que shook its head, waving its claw. "You'd be better off keeping Little Yuan in hand—it boosts the ATK of Lightning-Type monsters."

"Indeed," Bai Nianlong exhaled gently.

"No—"

Tian Tiancheng Guang looked at the "Re-Fusion" card in his hand, didn't activate it, and pointed to the field:

"It's time!"

"Let everyone witness the moment of a new Fusion Evolution!"

"?"

"What's this about Fusion?"

"And how can Little Yuan and Double-Headed Lei Long fuse?"

Before they could react, the Lei Lei Yuanlong—Lei Long on the field began crackling with lightning. The serpent-like form inside the sphere shifted and grew larger. The sphere slowly expanded, then—*pop! *—it split open, revealing a small dragon that slowly emerged, then grew, darkened, and transformed!

Lightning crackled violently!

This new dragon began sprouting wings!

A brand-new Lei Long—never before seen by any of the spirits—revealed its form!

"That—what is that!?!?"

"L-Little Yuan evolved!?"

"When a Lightning-Type monster's effect is activated in the hand, you can Special Summon this card from the Extra Deck by releasing one Lightning-Type monster you control, excluding Fusion Monsters!"

"Witness it! The moment a new 【Fusion】 descends!"

"This is—

The next step beyond Fusion!"

"Descended upon heaven and earth!"

"Super Lei Long—Lei Long!"

"Aaaoo—" An intelligent cry emerged from the tiny dragon's mouth.

Though transformed into a Fusion Monster with a majestic appearance, it remained adorably small.

Super Lei Long—Lei Long, Level 8, Dark Attribute, Lightning-Type, ATK 2600!

"Little Yuan… evolved," Bai Nianlong stared, dumbfounded.

"A new Lei Long—different from any before?" Nine-Snake Kong Que felt its beak might dislocate.

Is this the new monster card born from the bond between duelists in a Tag Duel?

"Fought!"

"Double-Headed Lei Long attacks the Dark God Bird!"

【Mountain】's Guardians, LP: 2000→1900.

"And then!"

"Chao Lei Long's direct attack!"

A small black dragon flew before its two older brothers, spewing lightning to strike them. Though it caused no pain, the two spirits nonetheless feigned great distress, crying "Waaah!" as they toppled backward.

【Mountain】's Guardians, LP: 1900→0!

"Winner: the Human Warrior!" Seeing this, Tian Lei Zhen Long slowly raised its head and spat a stream of lightning, broadcasting the news throughout the 【Mountain】. Countless bolts of electricity erupted across the 【Mountain】's sky, forming countless lightning patterns—like celebratory fireworks and confetti—honoring the victory.

What a beautiful duel!
