Chapter 36: You
After chatting about the game Genshin Impact, Yun Shuqian seemed to suddenly have her floodgates opened; the long-standing distance between them vanished as soon as this topic arose.
“By the way, game designers shouldn’t always be obsessed with AAA titles!” Yun Shuqian, perhaps influenced subconsciously by her work as a counselor, began.
Hearing the tone in Qin Xiaoyu’s words—slightly dismissive of the game—she started to gently guide him:
“The gaming audience is getting younger, and high-quality anime-style games like this are actually more popular in the market.”
Watching Yun Shuqian speak so enthusiastically, Qin Xiaoyu could barely suppress a smile.
In his memory, Yun Shuqian had once hated anime culture—back in high school, she’d reported him for reading manga more than once.
Now she was pitching him an anime game?
“I don’t see any real quality here—just better character models. Maybe it’s just novel because no one’s made this type before, so people find it fresh.”
Qin Xiaoyu didn’t actually look down on his own game—he was conducting a market survey, so he deliberately started putting it down.
“Character models are just one part!”
Yun Shuqian shook her head, stood up, and sat right beside Qin Xiaoyu to demonstrate more easily, then began listing her points one by one.
From the main storyline, to character design, to the background music, and every innovative exploration mechanic.
She showed him each element in turn, and while explaining, she couldn’t help praising the game’s development team dozens of times.
To Qin Xiaoyu, this woman was unmistakably a “Mihoyo fanboy.”
He’d originally planned to tell her that he’d developed the game himself—but now, fearing she’d suffer instant social death, he dropped the idea.
“After I finish up, I’ll download the game and give it a try,” Qin Xiaoyu said with a faint smile, then sent her the edited job posting.
“I’m practically a veteran player now. Once I’m free, Sister, I’ll take you on a map tour and help you find treasure chests, okay?”
“I’ll also explain the game’s unique features in detail so you can grasp its essence faster.”
A hint of pride appeared on Yun Shuqian’s face.
But soon she realized that constantly praising another company’s game while sitting beside a game designer might be impolite.
She stole a glance at Qin Xiaoyu’s profile and encouraged him: “Actually, I think you’re very talented too. One day you’ll make an even better game.”
“When that happens, Sister will be your first paying customer.”
“Alright, wait for it—don’t be stingy then!”
“Then you’d better hurry—I’m really afraid my first time is about to slip away…”
Yun Shuqian had said it offhandedly, but Qin Xiaoyu’s face immediately twisted into a strange expression.
It just sounded… awkward.
It had nothing to do with whether his thoughts were lewd or not.
A woman—especially one with outstanding looks and figure—sitting beside a man and saying her first time was about to be lost.
If a man didn’t misinterpret that, he was probably not normal.
“What are you thinking…?”
Yun Shuqian caught the expression on Qin Xiaoyu’s face and realized how easily her words could be misunderstood—her cheeks flushed crimson, and she quickly lowered her head to explain:
“I meant… my first time… spending money on a game…”
