Chapter 357

They couldn't understand—during the previous battle, Su Yang had given it his all and released all three of his pet beasts.

Why, at the decisive moment, did he hold back?

Only summoned one pet beast?

What else could this be but blatant sandbagging?

Even Su Yang's former superior, Zhu Xiaoshuang, and Emergency Team Captain Yao Xing, stared at Su Yang in deep confusion.

Only Liu Mengyun, with cold eyes, fixed her gaze on the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly behind Su Yang.

Three seconds passed, ten seconds passed…

Su Yang and the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly stood to one side, Hao Ren and his four Platinum-Level pet beasts stood to the other—neither side moved.

Time seemed frozen!

Fifteen seconds passed; Hao Ren's four Platinum-Level pet beasts looked questioningly at their master.

As if asking: Are we still fighting or not?

Yao Xing's gaze gradually locked onto the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly.

"What's going on?"

"Why aren't they fighting?"

"…"

Just as the crowd far away buzzed with speculation, something even more unexpected happened!

Hao Ren, who had been standing still without giving any attack order, suddenly raised his hand.

"Referee, I surrender!"

"Hao Ren surrenders, Su Yang wins!" Yao Xing announced. "I declare the final result: Su Yang is appointed Captain of Emergency Team's 14th Squad, and Hao Ren is appointed Deputy Captain of Emergency Team's 14th Squad!"

Everyone present was stunned.

They had expected this decisive battle to be a thrilling clash of titans.

Yet it ended in this bizarre manner!

One side summoned only one pet beast and blatantly sandbagged.

The other, clearly in the advantage, simply declared surrender…

If Yao Xing weren't of high virtue and great prestige, and high position and great power, many would have jumped up shouting foul play!

"Captain Hao, what's going on?" Two Colonel-grade officers rushed over. "Don't you think something's fishy?"

Something's fishy.

That's just a polite way of saying it!

They suspected someone was manipulating the outcome behind the scenes!

And doing it blatantly!

Yao Xing sighed. "Don't you see yet?"

"No!"

"See what?"

"…"

Yao Xing helplessly told Su Yang: "Su Yang, lift the mental control over Hao Ren."

"Oh!"

Mental control?

Everyone turned to look at the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly behind Su Yang—and suddenly understood!

They finally realized why Hao Ren had surrendered outright.

Then, many of them broke out in a fine cold sweat.

With just one pet beast, a single move had instantly defeated Hao Ren.

This was an absolute trump card!

Mental control.

Such an ability was truly terrifying!

No one wanted to experience this power.

That Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly could completely control a Platinum High-Grade Beast Tamer!

In difficulty, controlling a Platinum High-Grade Beast Tamer was far harder than controlling a Platinum High-Grade pet beast!

Especially since that Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly seemed to be only Platinum Low-Grade!

The Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly immediately lifted the mental control over Hao Ren.

Another possibility was to leave the target fully conscious, but with their neural pathways…

Hao Ren shuddered in place, then snapped back to awareness.

He looked at Yao Xing beside him, and the two Colonels, puzzled.

Clearly, he had no idea what had just happened!

Hao Ren asked: "What happened?"

Yao Xing replied: "You were under mental control—you surrendered!"

The two Colonels also nodded helplessly, confirming Yao Xing's words.

As long as the Seven-Colored Illusory Butterfly wished, it could make the controlled person recall everything they did while under control.

It was entirely up to its whim.

Liu Mengyun was the type who remembered everything clearly.

Hao Ren was the type who remembered nothing at all.

"I see..." Hao Ren briefly communicated with his familiars, then sighed deeply and recalled all four into his Beast Mastery Space. "I just realized I forgot something!"

He had planned the entire tactic, but before he could even execute it, he lost in a haze.

Hao Ren truly wasn't willing to accept it, but he was powerless.

Lost is lost!

He was under mental control.

He lost in a frustrating way.

But he still accepted it wholeheartedly!

"Then disband!" Yao Xing waved his hand. "Everyone's hungry—let's head to the Emergency Unit mess hall and grab a meal!"

Everyone mounted their flying familiars and followed Yao Xing toward the Emergency Unit.

Zhu Xiaoshuang gave Su Yang a thumbs-up: "You won beautifully!"

Su Yang smiled.

"Ding~ Congratulations, Host! You've defeated Hao Ren and claimed the position of Captain of Emergency Unit's 14th Squad. Mission completed!"

Next, he chose which familiar to upgrade—Su Yang selected the Rainbow Illusion Butterfly.

A mental-type familiar—so damn annoying, right!

Once the Rainbow Illusion Butterfly's growth potential reaches Divine Rank, he'll have Four Divine Beasts!

Just thinking about it feels amazing!
