Chapter 57

Su Yang smiled and said, "Thank you!"

Although he didn't care, it was still Zhou Hai's thoughtful gesture.

"Don't thank me—I just ran errands. After I told them you were promoted to Class One, Third Year, they all swore they wouldn't leak it, afraid of offending you!" Zhou Hai laughed. "All in all, your reputation still works wonders!"

On the first day of the holiday, the wind was gentle and the sun bright, warm rays spilling over the land.

Seven Stars City, located in the south, primarily grew rice.

Rice was harvested by late September to early October; now it was late October, but that didn't mean the fields were idle.

Su Yang stood by the window, watching the townsfolk gradually head out of town.

The townsfolk included old and young, large and small—all able-bodied people turned out.

Working outside town carried risks, but for food, they had no choice.

Zhang Xiuru had wanted to take Xiaoxiao out to work, but Su Yang stopped her.

"You're still a child—why are you stopping me?"

"Mom, don't go out with Xiaoxiao—it's unsafe!" Su Yang said. "Every time Xiaoxiao goes out, she's terrified, she just doesn't dare say it."

Zhang Xiuru said, "If we don't farm, what will you eat?"

"Take these core stones—they're all yours!" Su Yang handed Zhang Xiuru a heavy sack of core stones. "I don't need any of these; they'll last you and Xiaoxiao for over half a year. Maybe soon, I'll be able to bring you both to the city to live in comfort!"

Although Su Yang hadn't brought back carcasses, he had collected plenty of beast core stones that the Storm Eagle hadn't eaten.

Core stones were hard currency!

Besides being needed by Beast Tamer, many delicate instruments—including the Core Stone Rifles and Core Stone Cannons used by the Seven Stars City Garrison—ran on core stone power!

"How could there be so many?"

"All of them are from my hunts—my spoils!"

Zhang Xiuru exclaimed, "Months? But wasn't it supposed to be three years?"
