Chapter 58

"I skipped a grade!"

"What? Skipped a grade?"

Even Su Xiaoxiao jumped out from behind Zhang Xiuru: "Brother, you really skipped a grade?"

"Yes, I just moved up to third grade!" Su Yang nodded. "I want to graduate fast and bring you both to the city."

"Aren't you just a freshman?"

Su Yang answered honestly: "I'm a bit too strong—the teachers said first grade no longer suits me, so they jointly recommended I skip to third grade. If you don't believe me, Zhou Hai can vouch for me!"

Zhou Hai had gone home yesterday and warned other students at the town's No. 1 Middle School not to spread rumors about his warning, but hadn't yet told Zhang Xiuru and Su Xiaoxiao about the grade skip.

Zhang Xiuru worried: "Can you keep up with third-grade lessons?"

"Of course I can!"

Zhang Xiuru doubted: "Really?"

"Of course it's true—the teachers even called me a genius!" Su Yang gripped his mother's and sister's hands. "Trust me—stay in White Ant Town for now, don't go out. In no more than a month, I'll definitely bring you to live in the city!"

Seeing his confident son, Zhang Xiuru suddenly felt her son had grown up!

Her eyes grew slightly damp.

"Mom listens to you!"

"Mm!"

At three in the afternoon, Su Yang sat comfortably on a balcony chair, his long legs propped on the railing, half-asleep.

Beside him was a small square table, upon which his sister had poured him flower tea.

At that moment, a low, shrill air-raid siren blared!

"Umm~"

"Umm~"

"Umm~"

"…"

Su Yang flipped over and sprang to his feet.

Soon, Zhang Xiuru and Su Xiaoxiao also rushed out onto the balcony.

Zhang Xiuru urgently said: "Level-two air-raid alert—second only to Level-one. Danger comes from the sky. We must go to the bomb shelter—it's safest!"

Zhang Xiuru grabbed her children's hands and moved to descend, only to find Su Yang hadn't moved.

"Son, come on!"

"Mom, I'm a Beast Tamer now… According to wartime regulations, once a Level-two alert sounds, all Beast Tamers in Seven-Star City—whether students or野外 adventurers—must join nearby defense teams!"

Zhang Xiuru's tears instantly streamed down.

"Mom, sister—go to the bomb shelter!"

"Come back alive—don't be reckless!"

"Mm!"

After escorting his mother and sister into the bomb shelter, Su Yang met Zhou Hai face-to-face.

"Big Brother Su, let's go together!"

"Alright!"

When Su Yang arrived, fourteen people had already gathered in the square!

Among them were five young Beast Tamers and nine White Ant Patrol members, including the familiar patrol captain, Wang Tianlang.

Wang Tianlang shouted: "Time is critical—I'll be brief. Just now, Seven-Star City sent an urgent telegram ordering us to sound the Level-Two air-raid alert: a large swarm of demonic sparrows just attacked Xingcheng, south of Seven-Star City. Xingcheng suffered heavy losses."

"According to intelligence, most of those demonic sparrows are flying toward Seven-Star City!"

In the World of Fierce Beasts, outbreaks of rampant Fierce Beasts occur periodically.

Most of these rampant Fierce Beasts are Black-Iron grade: demonic sparrows, Black Blood Crows, Black Plague Rats, Jin Gang Ants, Asian Divine Locusts…

Don't assume Black-Iron grade Fierce Beasts are weak—once they swarm in massive numbers, covering the sky, they can still destroy base cities!

A Level-one alert means Seven-Star City may be wiped out!

A Level-two alert means the situation is already dire!

"Our mission: before the demonic sparrows arrive, help townspeople returning from outside get back to town. When the demonic sparrows appear, assist civilians in returning safely and resist the demonic sparrows… Understood?"

"Understood!"

Wang Tianlang sternly faced the seven young Beast Tamers: "You seven—state your pet's name and rank—I'll assign tasks!"

"Su Siyu, pet: Terror Crocodile, Black-Iron Mid-Grade, Water attribute!"

"Zhou Hai, pet: Clear Wind Wolf, Black-Iron Low-Grade, Wind attribute!"

"Guo Fei, pet: Wind Shadow Cat, Black-Iron High-Grade, Wind attribute!"

"…"

"Su Yang, pet: Storm Eagle, Black-Iron Top-Grade, Gold and Wind dual attribute!"

As soon as Su Yang finished speaking, every Beast Tamer in the square stared at him in shock and doubt.

There were only so many Beast Tamers in this town—they all knew each other well, and everyone knew he had only awakened in early September and become a student at No. 1 Middle School.

Zhou Hai said: "Su Yang's telling the truth—he skipped to Class One, Third Grade. All of us from No. 1 Middle School can vouch for him!"

Su Siyu, Guo Fei, and the other three all confirmed it!

"Good!" Wang Tianlang nodded, his expression grave. "Hu Fei, take the other six students—form the reserve team. Rescue nearby townspeople, maintain town order, organize self-rescue, enforce wartime regulations—anyone who refuses orders may be executed on the spot!"

Hu Fei, a patrol member, stepped forward: "Understood!"

Wang Tianlang turned to Su Yang: "Su Yang, our squad is severely lacking in flying-type pets. I want to assign you to the combat team. Are you willing?"

Su Yang asked: "Is this an order?"

"Of course it's not that—I just wanted to hear your thoughts. If you plan to join the reserve squad, I understand." Wang Tianlang said, "You're still a student, a genius!"

Su Yang shouted, "Captain, I understand what you mean, but I want to join the battle!"

"Good!"
