Chapter 819: Long time no see

Before long, they saw Yang Guochun running over from a distance with small, quick steps.

"Miss Shen, I'm sorry, I'm a little late."

His slightly plump physique had only run for such a short distance, yet thin beads of sweat were already faintly seeping from his forehead.

Shen Ci smiled as she stood up to shake his hand. Seeing his suit-and-tie attire, she couldn't help but say, "Director Yang, you're dressed so formally. Did you have other business just now?"

Upon hearing this, Yang Guochun looked down at his clothes and couldn't help but laugh: "Yes, I just met an actor upstairs. The other party is very famous, so I have to show some respect, don't I?"

This was a five-star hotel, and the group was currently in the hotel's lobby lounge.

Shen Ci nodded and took the opportunity to introduce Su Zheyuan: "This is my good friend Su Zheyuan, Chairman of the Su Group. Director Yang, you don't mind if he listens in, do you?"

Yang Guochun looked at Su Zheyuan, marveling that he was already a chairman at such a young age.

"Of course, hello Chairman Su."

After exchanging greetings and sitting down, Yang Guochun took the initiative to apologize to Shen Ci with a serious face: "Miss Shen, although you said you didn't mind, I still want to say I'm sorry for what happened before. Actually..."

Shen Ci raised her hand, signaling that there was no need to say more.

"Director Yang, I really haven't taken it to heart, otherwise I wouldn't have come today." Shen Ci looked at the other party and smiled faintly: "I also saw the entertainment news from a while ago. I know your film couldn't be released because of the actor issue. This incident must have had the biggest impact on you."

"I, on the other hand, am the lucky one. Although the explanation you gave me at the time was that the funding was sufficient, I actually knew that someone had intercepted it halfway, and I even knew who that person was."

Yang Guochun was somewhat shocked upon hearing this, clearly not expecting that Miss Shen knew everything.

Clever as he was, he quickly reacted: "So... it was because there was a conflict between you two that she..."

Shen Ci nodded lightly without hiding it: "Yes, in the end, it was a matter between her and me, and it had nothing to do with Director Yang. And looking at the result, I am the beneficiary; at least I wasn't the one losing money."

Yang Guochun nodded with a forced smile.

Then he heard Shen Ci suddenly ask him: "If I'm not mistaken, before you came to me, Director Yang, you must have approached the Qiu family for this new project, right? Did they not agree?"

Yang Guochun once again showed a shocked expression while looking at Shen Ci; it was obvious that Shen Ci had hit the nail on the head.

Seeing this, Shen Ci smiled slightly: "Since Director Yang was able to change your mind and stand me up on a whim before, I guessed that you and the other party must have had some history. Otherwise, I couldn't think of any other reasonable reason."

At that time, she had been very straightforward, and even knowing she would lose money, she had agreed without the slightest hesitation.

For such a straightforward investor, if it wasn't out of social obligation, Shen Ci couldn't think of a reason why Yang Guochun would look for someone else.

So, since Yang Guochun had a history with Qiu Chu, Shen Ci guessed that Yang Guochun would definitely approach Qiu Chu again.

Sure enough, Director Yang nodded awkwardly: "I did approach them first. Although the previous project couldn't be released because of the actor, causing Qiu Dong to lose money, that was just an isolated case. I thought Qiu Dong would still trust me."

"But it seems the other party actually has no interest in the film and television industry, and coupled with the influence of the previous incident, Qiu Dong refused very bluntly."

Shen Ci raised an eyebrow upon hearing this. Of course, Qiu Chu had no interest in the film and television industry; the previous actions were merely Qiu Keying's idea.

And at this moment, Yang Guochun had to re-examine the young Miss Shen in front of him.

Although she was young, she was smart—very smart—as if nothing could escape her eyes.

Because of this, Yang Guochun felt a bit more relaxed, and he simply spoke plainly: "Miss Shen, to tell you the truth, the domestic film market is currently in a winter period. There are too few films that can make money, so now, any slight disturbance in the film industry will deal a fatal blow to the entire sector." ===== CHAPTER 820 =====
