Chapter 110: Cui Jue

~7 min read 1,240 words

The Blood Fiend retreated, glancing around—his followers had either been dealt with by Wang Teng and Ye Lingxi, or were pinned down by Xue Qi, leaving him alone.

A ruthless gleam flashed in his eyes as he suddenly raised his hand and slammed down the red button on the podium.

“If that’s how it is, then let’s die together! The spiritual energy bombs in this warehouse are enough to level the entire Chengxi district of Disha Pass!”

The indicator lights on the warehouse roof instantly turned red, and a shrill alarm blared. Wang Teng’s face changed: “Damn, this madman’s going all out?”

“Stop him!” Ye Lingxi raised her hand and shot out an ice wall, blocking the Blood Fiend’s retreat path, unleashing her Xuanbing to its full power in an attempt to freeze the button’s control system.

But the Blood Fiend had anticipated this; his blood mist coiled into a giant serpent, shattering the ice wall, then opened its mouth and spat a jet of essence blood, instantly condensing into a blood-red longsword that stabbed straight at Jiang Xia: “Itachi think Itachi can stop me? Die first!”

“Child’s play, Ka Wei!” Jiang Xia activated Shenwei, his body instantly phasing out of existence—the blood-red sword passed cleanly through him, while the black flame blade of Susano’o slashed toward the Blood Fiend’s wrist.

“Squelch!” The Blood Fiend’s wrist was severed by the black flame, and the red button clattered to the ground.

He screamed in agony, barely beginning to retreat when Xue Qi appeared behind him, both hands Ningju dense spiritual power and slamming hard against his lower back: “Guardian, may your journey be peaceful!”

“Boom!” The Blood Fiend’s body flew like a cut kite, crashing heavily into a spiritual energy siege cannon, spewing torrents of blood, his aura instantly withering.

Jiang Xia walked slowly forward, the black flame blade resting against the Blood Fiend’s throat: “Give me the contact method for the foreign beasts beyond the pass, and all your other outposts in Shanhai Pass—speak!”

A flicker of resentment crossed the Blood Fiend’s eyes, but he knew further resistance was futile; gritting his teeth, he said: “The contact method is in the crystal chip on my collar. The outposts… there’s only this one.”

Wang Teng stepped forward, searched the chip, and snorted coldly: “Itachi think we’ll believe that?” He moved to act, but Jiang Xia stopped him.

“He’s not lying.” Jiang Xia’s Sharingan had pierced through the Blood Fiend’s thoughts. “This is truly their only arms depot. All other outposts are temporary contact points—no real combat strength.”

No sooner had he finished speaking than Xue Qi stepped forward, slapping his palm onto the Blood Fiend’s crown, causing the man’s body to twitch once before falling utterly still.

He turned to Jiang Xia: “I killed him. I’ve passed the Xieshenjiao ’s trial—I can continue my undercover mission.”

Jiang Xia nodded without speaking. Ye Lingxi had already connected to the team’s comm.

“Akatsuki Yue, the warehouse is secured—large cache of spiritual energy weapons. Request headquarters to dispatch transport and bomb disposal teams. Coordinates sent.”

“Received. Support arriving in twenty minutes.” Akatsuki Yue’s voice came through the earpiece, background noise filled with rapid keyboard tapping.

“Also, the Demon-Sealing Army of Disha Pass has sealed off the Chengxi zone—no external interference to worry about.”

After clearing the battlefield, Wang Teng idly fiddled with a spiritual energy rifle: “This thing’s way more badass than our standard-issue gear. If we could equip our squad with these…”

“Don’t even think about it.” Jiang Xia tapped his head. “All these weapons must be turned over to headquarters—confiscated.”

Twenty minutes later, the Demon-Sealing Army’s transport convoy and bomb disposal team arrived, systematically loading the warehouse’s weapons onto trucks.

After Jiang Xia’s team handed over the situation report to the officer in charge, they stepped out of the industrial park to find three black SUVs parked roadside. The lead car’s door opened, and Cui Jue stepped out, a faint, enigmatic smile on his face.

“Senior Jiang, congratulations on completing your mission.” Cui Jue walked forward slowly, flanked by two black-robed assassins from the Underworld.

“Didn’t expect your team, the ‘Eagle,’ to achieve such a feat right after formation.”

Jiang Xia raised an eyebrow: “Mr. Kidney-Weak? What are Itachi doing here?”

Cui Jue’s face darkened, but he ignored the jab, his gaze settling on Wang Teng.

“Wang Major’s curse technique is quite impressive.”

Jiang Xia’s mind stirred. “Itachi didn’t come all the way here just to offer congratulations, did Itachi?”

“Itachi’re too sharp, Senior Jiang.”

Cui Jue smiled. “The Lord of the Underworld has heard of Wang Major’s curse talent and wishes to invite Itachi to visit the Underworld, to exchange insights on Yin-affinity cultivation. What do Itachi say, Wang Major?”

“Invite me?” Wang Teng pointed at himself, surprised. “Aren’t Itachi Underworld folks always looking down your noses at everyone? Why take interest in me?”

“Wang Major, Itachi jest.”

Cui Jue’s smile vanished, his tone solemn. “Your Fengdu Secret Curse is unique. If the Lord takes notice, Itachi might even compete with me for the next position of Lord.”

Ye Lingxi glanced at Jiang Xia, her eyes asking. Jiang Xia paused, then nodded: “It wouldn’t hurt to go. Good chance to assess the Underworld’s strength—but stay cautious.”

“Relax, Lao Xia, I’m not an idiot.” Wang Teng patted his chest. “Besides, with Itachi two around, they won’t dare eat me.”

Cui Jue offered a pale smile. “Rest assured, Wang Major—we seek only pure academic exchange. No coercion.”

“By the way, the Fentian Pavilion and Sword Tomb groups are nearby too. Why not join us for a meal at Disha Pass’s best restaurant? Consider it a welcome feast for Senior Jiang’s team.”

Jiang Xia didn’t refuse—he wanted to make contact with other top forces in Shanhai Pass.

The group drove to the restaurant. As they entered the private room, they found Akatsuki Jin and Du Gu Yun already waiting.

Akatsuki Jin lounged in his chair, idly spinning a lighter. Seeing Jiang Xia enter, he raised an eyebrow: “Well, well—Senior Jiang, a rare guest. Didn’t expect Itachi to clear the Cult of the Demon God so fast.”

“Can’t compare to Itachi, always doing nothing.” Jiang Xia replied coolly, pulling out a chair and sitting.

Du Gu Yun set down his longsword, his gaze fixed on Jiang Xia: “Didn’t get enough of Itachi in the finals. When are Itachi free for a sparring match?”

“Anytime.”

“Same here.” Du Gu Yun’s eyes flickered with battle lust. “Your ocular technique is truly bizarre—especially that final move, capable of disrupting even a Semi-Sage.”

Cui Jue sat at the head of the table, his tone utterly different from the training camp, smiling to ease the tension.

“Enough talk. Try Disha Pass’s specialty dishes—made from the meat of Wang Jie-class aberrant beasts. Nourishes Yin and replenishes Yang—perfect for cultivation.”

Waiters brought dish after dish: golden, crispy roasted Wind Wolf legs glazed in spiritual liquid sauce, icy Bear Paws drenched in elixir, and a steaming hotpot of aberrant beast meat.

Wang Teng’s eyes lit up. He grabbed chopsticks and snatched a piece of Wind Wolf meat: “Damn, this beats the hell out of training camp nutrient paste!”

Akatsuki Jin scoffed: “Never seen the world. This is just ordinary banquet fare in Disha Pass.”

“Better than your daily roasted turkey.” Wang Teng shot back without hesitation. “Heard Fentian Pavilion disciples can’t go a meal without flame-grilled meat. No wonder Itachi’re so damn short-tempered.”
