Chapter 285: Wanlun Entertainment Company

~5 min read 974 words

SilverWestQing waited silently and stubbornly in the reception area, like a small stone cast into a lake, causing no great ripples within the New Era. The vast majority of members remained immersed in their busy, fulfilling work and lives, regarding this visitor from Dragon Country with her unusual aura only with mild curiosity.

The next day, morning.

Xia Wan rose early and changed into a dark, practical outfit prepared for her by Su Wenqian. Her injuries were no longer serious, and her Spirit had entered a peculiar state of fullness after yesterday's self-revelation. As she prepared to accompany Qin Feng to an unknown destination, she felt both anticipation and a faint, instinctive tension toward the unknown.

Qin Feng appeared punctually at the entrance of the Medical Center, still dressed in his simple dark attire, expression calm.

"Sir." Xia Wan bowed slightly.

Qin Feng glanced at her, nodded, said nothing more, and turned to walk away. Xia Wan took a deep breath and hurried after him.

Neither went to any landing pad nor took any common vehicle. Qin Feng led Xia Wan directly to a relatively secluded yet exceptionally well-guarded building in the core zone of the New Era. The structure resembled a large warehouse or energy hub, constructed entirely of matte special alloy, with no windows whatsoever.

Identity verification passed. The heavy alloy door slid open silently.

Inside was not the imagined warehouse or server room, but an extremely spacious, brilliantly lit hall. At its center rested a sleek, entirely black aircraft, resembling the Low-Altitude Skimmer that had transported Xia Wan to Kunlun Mountain, yet larger and with sharper, more angular lines. It hovered silently half a meter above the ground, motionless as a dormant shadow beast.

This was Qin Feng's usual vehicle—the Dark Star—equipped with short-range spatial leap capability.

"Get in." Qin Feng gestured.

Xia Wan suppressed her awe and followed Qin Feng aboard the Dark Star. The interior was not luxurious, but brimmed with ultimate technological sophistication and practicality. The seats conformed perfectly to the human curve; flexible light screens lined the walls, displaying external scenes or various data.

The hatch sealed.

Without feeling any noticeable acceleration or vibration, the view outside the window instantly blurred and twisted—then dissolved into profound darkness and a distant, glittering river of stars. They had left the New Era and entered the void beyond low Earth orbit.

Spatial leap!

Though Xia Wan had mentally prepared herself, experiencing such an extraordinary mode of travel firsthand still sent a shiver of awe and dread through her. She stole a glance at Qin Feng beside her, eyes closed, resting calmly—his expression as undisturbed as if he had merely stepped down a single stair.

Is this the world she wanted to draw near?

The Dark Star glided soundlessly through the void, moving at incredible speed. About an hour later, a familiar blue planet gradually expanded beyond the window. They were returning to Earth.

But their destination was neither Dragon Country nor any well-known international metropolis or strategic location.

The Dark Star began descending, piercing through the clouds.

Below emerged a bustling city on the west coast of North America, famed for its sunshine, beaches, and film industry—Luocheng.

The Dark Star slipped in like a ghost, avoiding all radar and surveillance networks, landing silently within the private Heliport of an ordinary-looking luxury villa in Luocheng's suburbs.

The hatch opened. Two operatives of the New Era, dressed in black suits, their aura sharp and eyes piercing, awaited outside. They were the station chiefs stationed here.

"Sir." Both bowed deeply upon seeing Qin Feng, their respect absolute.

Qin Feng gave a slight nod and stepped down from the aircraft. Xia Wan followed closely, curiously observing her surroundings. This place differed entirely from the futuristic aesthetic of the New Era—filled instead with worldly opulence and quiet before the noise.

"Target status." Qin Feng asked as he walked, his tone concise.

One of the field operatives immediately reported: "Target: Wanlun Entertainment Company. Publicly, it is a mid-sized film production and talent agency in Luocheng, operating normally with collaborations from multiple Hollywood studios. But behind it, a peripheral organization under the Shadow Council controls it, long using film projects as cover to conduct global intelligence gathering, personnel infiltration, and secret transactions and testing of unconventional technologies."

"We've detected they recently activated a secret project codenamed Godmaking Project, attempting to use incomplete bio-technology acquired from the black market—partially derived from Pandora's leaks—combined with psychology and media techniques, to mass-produce influential 'super idols,' aiming to gain greater discourse power in public opinion and specific domains. The project's lead is one of the Shadow Council's core operatives, codenamed Director."

Wanlun Entertainment Company.

This was the destination Qin Feng had brought Xia Wan to today.

A nest of the enemy, hidden beneath the glossy surface of the entertainment world.

Qin Feng stopped walking and turned to Xia Wan, his gaze calm:

"Today's mission: clean out this place."

"And you must learn, during this process, how to control and use your power."

Xia Wan's heart leapt.

Clean out? Use power?

She instantly understood Qin Feng's intent. This was no sightseeing—it was a live exercise! Against an enemy stronghold concealed within a city!

She unconsciously clenched her fists, sensing the dormant Bloodline Power within her stir faintly, stirred by the tense atmosphere.

"Yes, sir." She took a deep breath, forcing her voice steady.

Qin Feng said no more and walked straight out of the villa. A black sedan, outwardly ordinary but heavily modified inside, waited outside.

The vehicle left the villa compound, merged into Luocheng's ceaseless river of traffic, and smoothly headed toward the modern office building in the city center bearing the giant "Wanlun Entertainment" logo.

A storm hidden beneath the city's neon lights was about to break.

And Xia Wan would, within this storm, complete her first…

Trial by combat.
