Chapter 72: Same surname Lin, but the gap is enormous
Whether I can afford it is none of your damn business! Get lost!
Lin Meng didn't regard Lin Haocheng at all; even calling him 'brother' was an insult to that warm form of address.
Since the other party didn't even recognize her, she might as well treat him as a nosy passerby.
Lin Haocheng inherited the 'excellent quality' of his uncle's family—lack of quality runs in the blood—and seeing Lin Meng so clueless, his temper flared instantly.
Who's in charge here? How can someone who can't afford a car just go around touching them, and nobody stops them?
His voice was loud, instantly drawing everyone's attention.
Seeing there was gossip to eat, everyone abandoned the cars and rushed over to watch the spectacle.
Soon, a sales manager came over.
He first glanced at Lin Haocheng, his brow barely furrowing, then turned his gaze to Lin Meng.
Miss, would you like a test drive?
Lin Meng nodded, about to speak, when Lin Haocheng cut her off with a cold laugh.
Ha, Manager Li, you used to be a sales champion—how after years as a manager can you still not judge people? Which of your eyes sees her as able to afford a big G?
Some of the onlookers thought Lin Haocheng's words were harsh but not wrong.
Although Lin Meng looked like she couldn't afford it, she still insisted on getting into the big G, surely just to take more photos to post on Moments and show off.
They'd seen plenty of people who puff themselves up; with this dealership having no entry barrier, it's practically become a check-in spot for some internet celebrities.
But many customers couldn't stand Lin Haocheng's arrogant demeanor.
What's wrong with a young lady wanting to try it out? She didn't dirty or damage the car, yet he's getting all worked up—strangers might think it's his car.
Exactly, he has no tolerance; the young lady didn't provoke him, yet he butt in with his nagging—I'm watching, and such a man is truly classless.
Hearing those mocking words, Lin Haocheng's face turned livid with anger.
The sales department's Manager Li had no intention of dealing with Lin Haocheng; instead, he confirmed with Lin Meng again.
Miss, if you're sure about the test drive, you'll need to provide your driver's license and related information.
Seeing that the other party was straightforward, Lin Meng immediately produced her driver's license.
She had obtained this license back in college, but never had a chance to use it.
When she took the Subject Two and Subject Three exams, she passed on the first try, and even her instructor praised her driving skills during practice.
Presumably, this off-road drive wouldn't pose a problem for her.
Manager Li quickly processed the paperwork for Lin Meng and personally accompanied her in the passenger seat.
Seeing himself ignored and losing face, Lin Haocheng darkly thought that if she didn't pay after the test drive, he would definitely complain about Manager Li.
When Wang Mengmeng returned with coffee and dessert, she found Lin Meng already seated in the big G, ready for the test drive, with Manager Li personally accompanying her.
She hurried over nervously, afraid her client would suffer a grievance at Manager Li's hands.
Manager, this young lady is my client; why don't I handle it?
Manager Li waved his hand, 'No need, go keep an eye on that Lin Haocheng—don't let him keep shouting nonsense.'
Lin Meng fiddled a bit, quickly mastered the basic controls of the big G, and drove off in a flash.
She drove steadily, not fast, and recalling what Manager Li had just said, she couldn't help but ask indirectly:
Manager Li, do you know that big-mouthed guy from earlier?
Him? Of course I know him. He's not that capable, just relying on being a familiar face in some rich-kid circles to think he's hot stuff—every time he comes to pick up a car, he's shouting and making a scene.
Manager Li had long been dissatisfied with Lin Haocheng, and seeing the opportunity, he couldn't help but vent to Lin Meng.
You don't know how smug his petty, self-satisfied face is—it's infuriating. Every time he helps those young masters pick up a car, he acts as if he's the one buying it, and still demands freebies from us.
What I can't stand most is that he doesn't know his place—an errand runner is just an errand runner, yet he insists on acting like a rich kid himself, while the customer is god and we can't afford to offend them.
Listening to Manager Li's complaints, Lin Meng had already driven two blocks away.
She hadn't expected that Lin Haocheng had ended up as a lackey for rich kids out there.
His aunt, Wang Fang, used to constantly brag in the village about how capable her eldest son was, how he made big money outside, and was a big boss.
After all that, he ended up like this.
Lin Meng felt a sigh of regret, yet felt no sympathy.
In her view, the uncle and his wife already had flawed character and values; under their influence, none of the three kids turned out good—they all went astray.
When Lin Haocheng returns home in glory, there will surely be a spectacle to watch—just thinking about it feels like a slap to the uncle's family.
Lin Meng test-drove for twenty-odd minutes before driving the car back to the dealership.
Manager Li got out of the car without asking if Lin Meng intended to buy; he apparently didn't think she would purchase it, and was just out for a joyride himself.
Lin Haocheng hadn't left yet; his beady eyes fixed on Lin Meng, he licked his lips and said:
"Wasn't it fun driving the luxury car? Don't you plan to buy it back?"
Lin Haocheng waited to see Lin Meng's joke—if he couldn't afford the car, how could this penniless woman possibly buy it?
Lin Meng didn't even give Lin Haocheng a pitying glance; as a lackey for rich kids, he could only bark twice at times like this to feel superior.
"Wang Mengmeng?"
Lin Meng ignored Lin Haocheng and waved at Wang Mengmeng.
"Go write up the order—I'm buying this car."
Lin Meng waved her hand grandly, finally experiencing the feeling of spending money like dirt.
Although her heart fluttered at the moment, it was the first time in her life she'd paid for a bit of vanity, yet she had no regrets.
Wang Mengmeng thought she'd misheard, standing there stunned.
Seeing this, Lin Meng couldn't help but laugh and wave her hand in front of her.
"Snap out of it—I said I'm buying this car; go help me write up the order."
Upon receiving the affirmative answer again, Wang Mengmeng's whole body trembled slightly with excitement.
"Really? Miss, you want to buy a G-Class? I'll go tell our manager right away!"
Now Lin Haocheng was stunned; he stood there for a few seconds, still thinking it impossible.
"Do you know how much this car costs? Are you sure you can afford it? Once the order is written up, you have to pay on the spot!"
Lin Meng shrugged and gave Lin Haocheng a look as if he were an idiot.
"I know, no need to remind me."
Soon, Manager Li returned, the shock still on his face.
Who would have thought, a youngster who didn't look like someone coming to buy a car turned out to be the most straightforward and extravagant.
"Miss Lin, right? I understand your request; I'll write up the order now—car insurance and such, you don't need to worry, we'll handle everything fully. Do you need any extra equipment? If you upgrade the configuration, the price will go up accordingly."
Manager Li was extremely enthusiastic toward Lin Meng, but when he turned and saw Lin Haocheng still there, he couldn't help but snort.
"Both surnamed Lin, but the difference is not ordinary..."
