After walking about five hundred meters along the street, they reached a wide river flowing through the city. The river was surging, more than half full, and it was unclear where it was flowing.

On the surface of the river, a stone arch bridge spanned across, connecting the riverbank to the street.

The bridge was built with exquisitely carved stones into a large arch like a rainbow, with a span of over ten zhang. The military horse path sandwiched between the pedestrian paths on both sides could accommodate four carriages side-by-side. Two small arches were built on each shoulder of the large arch, which not only facilitated drainage but also reduced the load on the large arch. The clever combination made the bridge light and beautiful, with gentle slopes and an outstanding design.

The stone railings on the bridge were carved with shallow reliefs of cloud and dragon patterns. The six central pillars were different from the others, being six stone dragon heads looking down from the bridge. Two rows of stone pillars stood on both sides of the stone bridge, roughly estimated to be thirty or forty in total, carved with clear textures, ancient and desolate, like two rows of guards standing straight, quietly guarding this great bridge.

On the first pier of the stone bridge, the three large characters "Yue Ma Qiao" (Leaping Horse Bridge) were carved.
