Chapter 776

Li Er, on the side, was stunned.

What kind of crazy operation was this from the Harsha Empire?

Could they be stupid to this extent?

Before the armies even met, they first sent a big gift package! And two thousand war elephants at once!

With so many war elephants, why didn't they send them to the Great Tang?

That was all the content of the victory report.

After listening, everyone was full of questions.

Qin Mu reached out his hand toward Old Li.

"Old Li, come, let's start the congratulations."

Li Er was a bit embarrassed, not knowing how to say these congratulatory words?

Fang Xuanling said.

"Congratulations to Your Majesty for obtaining two thousand war elephants without any effort. Great Qin has won the first battle, it must be a good omen!"

It was really hard for them.

Qin Mu waved his hand, letting them leave.

After Li Er and Fang Xuanling left, General Yue Fei Fei spoke up.

"Your Majesty, I believe that the one defeated this time was not the Harsha Empire army, but a transport team escorting supplies." This guess was more reliable.

After all, two thousand war elephants didn't have many soldiers around them.

This didn't look like an army marching at all.

Qin Mu waved his hand and said.

"All ministers, stop guessing, this team must be the Great Tang's diplomatic mission!"

The civil and military officials were all a bit confused.

Why did the Emperor conclude that this was the Great Tang's diplomatic mission?

Everyone heard the same amount of news, and they didn't feel that any word in the victory report mentioned the Great Tang?

Could this be intellectual crushing?

General Yue Fei Fei was an honest man and asked directly.

"Your Majesty, how can you conclude that it must be the Great Tang's diplomatic mission?"

Perhaps because he had just obtained two thousand war elephants, Qin Mu was in a very good mood....

Taking this opportunity, he also explained it to the ministers.

"First think about those ten thousand plus jin of seeds. Under what circumstances would one transport so many seeds?"

Transporting seeds was indeed not common.

Transporting such a large quantity was even rarer.

General Yue Fei Fei commanded troops, and it happened that his army had done such a thing.

"Your Majesty, I remember that we once sent an army to transport a large amount of sweet potatoes used as seeds from Yizhou to Changancheng!"

The ministers then understood the Emperor's meaning.

Under normal circumstances, there was no need to transport a large amount of seeds. But when a superior crop was not available in another place, such large-scale transportation was needed.

Qin Mu nodded and said.

"That's right, the Harsha Empire has some good things. Among them, cotton is a thing with special strategic value!

It must be the Great Tang that wanted to introduce it from the Harsha Empire, so they bought it in large quantities and transported it back to Jiangnan."

With the Emperor's explanation, the ministers also figured it out.

No wonder those two thousand war elephants didn't have many soldiers following them.

They must have also been bought by the Great Tang from the Harsha Empire, ready to be sent back to Jiangnan to train their own elephant troops. With this explanation, the whole thing became smooth.

Just then.

Another small eunuch hurried into the hall.

"Your Majesty, the official document from Yelang to the Ministry of War has arrived!"

General Yue Fei Fei took it and looked.

He laughed out loud.

"Your Majesty, you are truly a genius! These things are indeed from the Great Tang diplomatic mission. This kid Xue Rengui is not bad, he even captured the Great Tang's main and deputy envoys, Pei Ji and Pei Lüshi!"

The whole hall was in an uproar.

Pei Ji's name was known throughout the world, and there was no one who didn't know it.

He didn't expect that this time, he would personally lead the mission to the Harsha Empire and be caught red-handed by the Great Qin front-line army.

Compared to this old man Pei Ji, Qin Mu was more concerned about Xue Rengui.

"Xue Rengui, whose subordinate is this?"

General Yue Fei Fei cupped his hands and replied.

"Reporting to Your Majesty, Xue Rengui missed the previous imperial examination. He came to join the army himself during the previous recruitment.

I saw that he had the strength to surpass the Martial Top Graduate, so I made him a Courageous Commandant.

I didn't expect him to make such a great contribution in his first battle!"

So it was General Yue Fei Fei who had the discerning eye to recognize talent.

Qin Mu nodded with satisfaction.

Because there were capable ministers, such talent was not missed.
