Chapter 425: Don't Take It Seriously
Zhai Yuhan knocked on the door of the director's office.
"Come in."
"Boss." Zhai Yuhan pushed the door open and entered, frowning.
"What's wrong?" Yang Zhuren hadn't realized what had happened; he was leisurely waiting for the filming to finish so he could go home.
He had no interest in being on television; he just felt a bit annoyed and really wished he could chase all these interns away tomorrow.
"Boss, Ji Xiang persuaded the patient in 12-3 to have an MRI tomorrow."
Yang Zhuren's hand froze; he forgot what he was about to do next.
"What did you say?" Yang Zhuren looked at Zhai Yuhan in surprise, asking in disbelief.
"Ji Xiang, that little guy who just graduated with an undergraduate degree, persuaded the patient. I verified it; the patient does indeed want to undergo further examination," Zhai Yuhan said carefully.
She bit down hard on the four words "undergraduate degree."
"How did he persuade them?" Yang Zhuren automatically filtered out Zhai Yuhan's personal bias.
"I don't know; I didn't follow him at the time," Zhai Yuhan lowered her head, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Yang Zhuren didn't blame Zhai Yuhan; he was familiar with his Resident Chief and knew what Zhai Yuhan had been thinking at the time.
If it were Yang Zhuren himself, he wouldn't have followed either.
When encountering an awkward situation, it was better to let the intern doctor brought by the production team solve it themselves.
After all, it was an old patient, and one who was about to be discharged, so there was no worry about other issues.
But!
It was precisely such a stubborn patient who wouldn't listen to reason and refused to have a detailed examination no matter what; a patient whom Zhai Yuhan had used as a soft nail to make the production team's intern suffer a setback, had actually been persuaded by that little guy!
This was even more surprising than the descriptions in the brief the production team had given Yang Zhuren.
As for things like the Provincial Natural Science Foundation, to Yang Zhuren, he "saw through" the truth at a glance—it must be that there was someone in the older generation helping out, which was why he had obtained resources others couldn't get at such a young age.
This only meant that the people behind Ji Xiang were powerful; when he had to face difficulties alone, he would surely reveal his true colors.
But!
The matter Zhai Yuhan spoke of made Yang Zhuren feel surprised and look at Ji Xiang with new eyes.
He picked up his phone and began to contact the production team.
Yang Zhuren knew the production team had cameras following Ji Xiang.
After asking a few questions, Yang Zhuren hung up the phone.
"Let's go."
"To the Review Room?"
"Yes, let's see what this little guy said," Yang Zhuren said.
Zhai Yuhan tossed her head, her ponytail swaying lightly.
"Strange," Yang Zhuren said to himself as he walked with his hands behind his back toward the Review Room.
He knew very well how stubborn that patient was.
That was why Yang Zhuren was particularly curious about how exactly Ji Xiang had persuaded the patient.
Zhai Yuhan was also curious; she gave a few instructions to the Nurse and followed behind her boss to get a glimpse of the truth.
Arriving at the Review Room, the guests hadn't left yet. Yang Zhuren first exchanged a few brief pleasantries with everyone, then immediately sat down beside Professor Shen.
The guests had already watched Ji Xiang "chatting" with the patient in 12-3 once, but they felt no impatience as they watched it again with Yang Zhuren.
Watching the same content twice, even though the guests didn't understand medicine, they had more feelings about it.
On the screen, the young doctor's behavior was seasoned to the Extreme Point; several key sentences hit the patient's heart, and finally, there was that scene of playing hard to get—he wasn't in a rush.
Everything silently told everyone that this young doctor was as seasoned as an old Expert with white hair and beard, not at all like an inexperienced Standardized Training Doctor or Intern Doctor.
After watching, Yang Zhuren was silent, and Zhai Yuhan's brows were locked tight; neither of them spoke.
"Yang Zhuren, would you like to say a few words?" Professor Shen, as a guest, was still very polite.
"There's nothing to say. I've tried to persuade this patient many times, but I didn't expect him to be moved by an intern. Truly... the student has surpassed the master," Yang Zhuren smiled helplessly.
This was the truth, but his emotions were somewhat complex.
Professor Shen understood Yang Zhuren's mood and smiled, "It's very likely that this intern doctor Ji Xiang has high emotional intelligence, and it just so happens that he has undergone a Cholecystectomy himself, so he can empathize with the patient."
"I think this possibility is greater," Yang Zhuren said. "The patient is my old patient, and I know his personality quite well; he's usually impervious to reason. Ji Xiang, Ji Xiang..."
Yang Zhuren pondered, repeatedly muttering Ji Xiang's name.
"This kid is really lucky," a guest laughed.
Attribute everything to luck?
Zhai Yuhan frowned, her brain suddenly spinning at high speed for no reason.
Although this speculation was the most reasonable, Zhai Yuhan always felt something was wrong. But what other possibilities could there be?
Zhai Yuhan soon revealed a relieved smile.
Not to mention herself, even a problem her own boss couldn't solve, how could Ji Xiang, a young person, possibly solve it?
This wasn't a technical difficulty, but involved worldly wisdom.
An old fox like her own boss was at his wit's end, and a newborn calf like Ji Xiang could do it?
Zhai Yuhan didn't believe it.
It must be luck after all; this was the only explanation Zhai Yuhan could accept.
Everyone sat together and exchanged ideas for over ten minutes before Yang Zhuren took his leave.
It was late, and the guests also went back to rest.
"Fan Dao, today's filming was good," the assistant laughed. "I didn't expect Ji Xiang to have had a Cholecystectomy; this kid is really unlucky."
"You believe that?" Fan Dao looked at his assistant with disdain.
"Huh? Fan Dao, you don't think so?"
"I don't think so." Fan Dao stated his own thoughts, "If Ji Xiang had really performed surgery... no, it's absolutely impossible. That last move of playing hard to get was played too beautifully; I even had an illusion."
Fan Dao did not say what the illusion was; he pondered, repeatedly watching the video he had just recorded regarding Ji Xiang.
Early the next morning, Ji Xiang arrived at the hospital very early.
Yang Zhuren personally took the Patient to the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Room, with Zhai Yuhan and Ji Xiang following; Ji Xiang was also quick to get familiar, standing right beside Yang Zhuren, staring intently at the screen.
The roaring sound of the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance could be heard faintly; Zhai Yuhan's attention was not on the Patient's Nuclear Magnetic Resonance images, but entirely on Ji Xiang.
She was very curious whether this little guy's diagnosis was correct.
"Ji Xiang." Zhai Yuhan said suddenly while waiting for the Patient to undergo the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance.
"What is it, Teacher Zhai?"
"When did you have your gallbladder removal surgery? It is quite rare to have a gallbladder removed at your age."
"I didn't, my gallbladder is perfectly fine." Ji Xiang stared at the screen and answered simply.
"You didn't? That's not what you said to the Patient yesterday."
"Oh, I can't tell the Patient the truth in every single sentence." Ji Xiang answered casually, "I just said it like that to get close to the Patient; please don't take it seriously."
"..." Zhai Yuhan was stunned.
"Doctor Ji Xiang, you really haven't done it?" Yang Zhuren frowned and asked.
"No."
"Then what about the feeling you described to the Patient?"
"I just said it randomly, Yang Zhuren, please don't take it to heart." Ji Xiang smiled.
