Chapter 426: Tell Your Old Yang Not to Provoke Him
Regarding Ji Xiang's answer, Yang Zhuren sighed lightly.
This child was too relaxed; he didn't treat himself as a subordinate doctor at all, but rather as a peer and friend.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have said it like that.
However, was it really okay to speak to a superior doctor in that tone?
Yang Zhuren wasn't exactly angry over a few joking words; his attention was focused on the nuclear magnetic resonance images.
As a doctor, being able to persuade a patient to undergo an examination is an impressive ability, but at the end of the day, this is just social savvy—a necessary skill for an old hand, but not a required ability for an elite-level doctor.
Diagnosis!
This is the gold-lettered signboard of a doctor.
Yang Zhuren was very curious whether Ji Xiang's "guess" was actually correct.
Twenty-some minutes later, the images from the Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography came out.
Evaluating the bile duct tree further through the images, the results revealed a stone in the cystic duct remnant, accompanied by compression of the common bile duct and dilation of the upstream bile ducts!
Ji Xiang's "guess" was completely correct!
Because there were many patients in the Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Room, and although they had come early for the examination, the Camera Crew was also quite large, so they did not follow along.
After Yang Zhuren confirmed the images, his mood was a bit strange.
"Doctor Ji Xiang, how did you determine that?" Yang Zhuren asked.
"Just a feeling," Ji Xiang replied. "I encountered a similar patient before, and the images on his Ultrasound report were similar to the images of our patient in the department."
Yang Zhuren immediately thought of what Ji Xiang had said to the patient last night and the explanation he had given him.
Just saying whatever comes to mind, not to be taken seriously—he was doing it again!
Damn it!
Yang Zhuren was slightly angry.
It wasn't entirely anger; he was just slightly displeased by Ji Xiang's nonchalant attitude and his tone, which lacked sufficient respect for a superior doctor.
He didn't look like a young, inexperienced Intern at all; he was as slick as those old Attending Physicians who had been grinding away in Clinical practice for ten or twenty years.
"Little Zhai."
"Boss." Zhai Yuhan followed behind Yang Zhuren.
"Contact the ERCP shi, send the patient for the examination and surgery," Yang Zhuren arranged simply.
To Zhai Yuhan, these matters belonged to the simplest small events in Clinical practice, and since the Camera Crew was going to record other personnel's work today, Zhai Yuhan didn't have to face the camera, and she felt much more relaxed.
However, Zhai Yuhan soon discovered another of Ji Xiang's strengths—he was truly efficient at work.
Preoperative explanations, various documents, and communication with the patient—everything was done in an orderly manner.
In the afternoon, the patient was sent to the ERCP shi.
During the Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), the biliary angiography showed a filling defect in the long cystic duct remnant inserted distally, suggesting that the retained stone was causing partial biliary obstruction.
Comparing the ERCP and the nuclear magnetic resonance images confirmed that the patient indeed had Mirizzi syndrome after a Cholecystectomy.
A Sphincterotomy was performed, and a 9-12mm balloon was inserted to explore the common bile duct; moderate resistance was encountered at the insertion site of the cystic duct.
No filling defects or stones were found in the CBD post-procedure.
Subsequently, selective catheterization of the cystic duct was performed, and a balloon was inserted to remove a large bile duct stone. Balloon cholangiography showed the entire biliary tract, including the cystic duct remnant, had no residual filling defects, and the drainage of bile and Contrast Agent was good.
The surgery ended, and Zhai Yuhan felt much more relaxed. Watching Ji Xiang send the patient back to the ward, she was called over by the director of the ERCP shi.
"Little Zhai."
"Director Zheng, what is it?"
"That one, is he the doctor from the reality show?" Director Zheng looked at Ji Xiang's back and asked with great interest.
"Yes."
"How is it? These young masters aren't affecting Clinical work, are they? You tell me, the Dean is something else, how could he take on such a job? Our Clinical work is so serious; how can it be linked to a reality show?"
Director Zheng grumbled.
Zhai Yuhan felt a bitter taste in her mouth.
Director Zheng's thoughts were the same as her previous ones, full of complaints and disdain.
But this patient had been "handled" by Ji Xiang from start to finish, and Zhai Yuhan had nothing to say.
"What are you thinking about?" Director Zheng asked.
"Director Zheng, this patient..." Zhai Yuhan briefly described the course of events, without exaggeration or disparagement, just a plain account.
"Damn, this kid is capable," Director Zheng said in surprise. "What's his name?"
"Ji Xiang."
"This name..." Director Zheng pondered. "Sounds really familiar."
"Ji Xiang Yisheng (Good fortune for a lifetime)? Look at how his name was chosen; adding the word 'Doctor' makes it a pun," the Nurse beside them laughed.
"No!" Director Zheng found the matter regarding Ji Xiang in his memory and asked, "Ji Xiang... Ji Xiang... is he that Standardized Training Doctor from the Medical University?"
"Yes," Zhai Yuhan said. "Is he that famous? He got the national top score in this year's Professional Medical Examination, and it was a perfect score, so it's normal to know him."
"What? He got a perfect score and the national top rank in the Professional Medical Examination?! Well, I wouldn't believe it if someone else got a perfect score, but it's only right that Ji Xiang could get the national top rank." Director Zheng was completely stunned, but then showed a look of realization.
"Director Zheng, you are..." Zhai Yuhan looked at Director Zheng, feeling puzzled.
"Qin, the boss of Shanghai Hepatobiliary Hospital, wanted to take Ji Xiang as a student a while ago and even held an annual meeting," Director Zheng said. "It's in the field of Interventional Radiology; it has nothing to do with you, so it's normal that you don't know."
"And then?" Zhai Yuhan became serious immediately upon hearing what Director Zheng said.
"Director Zheng, consultation!"
Just as they were talking, a head poked out from the doorway of the film-reading room, and a doctor shouted loudly.
"I'm coming." Director Zheng hadn't had his fill of gossip; he smacked his lips and took a deep look at Zhai Yuhan.
"Little Zhai, this person has a bit of a temper. Be careful and don't offend him."
Director Zheng told her not to offend a small Intern; for a split second, Zhai Yuhan thought she had auditory hallucinations and had misheard Director Zheng's meaning.
"Go back and tell your Old Yang, don't let him end up crying while drinking after getting shut down later on."
As Director Zheng spoke, he remembered something, laughed out loud, and turned to leave.
"Zheng..." Zhai Yuhan called out, but seeing Director Zheng hurrying back to review films, she could only sigh helplessly.
Director Zheng had only told half the gossip, as if he knew some specific details.
That Ji Xiang had a deeper background beyond just being the national number one with a perfect score was something Zhai Yuhan had completely not expected.
Boss Qin of Shanghai Hepatobiliary wanted to take Ji Xiang as a student; Zhai Yuhan's mind wavered.
That place was a nationally renowned large Grade A Tertiary Hospital, and with that Old Man presiding over it, the technical level was high... or maybe not. Zhai Yuhan had heard that the Old Man had already become a mascot, and his major open surgeries were no longer the mainstream surgical procedure.
But regardless, with that Old Man there, the hospital's status certainly couldn't be low.
Boss Qin of the Interventional Department... Zhai Yuhan savored the beginning of the words Director Zheng had only just started, but she couldn't figure it out.
She went to the film reading room to take a look, but Director Zheng was in a consultation, so Zhai Yuhan could only regretfully head back while clutching the opening of a big piece of gossip.
So curious! It felt like a little kitten was scratching at Zhai Yuhan's heart.
