Chapter 582: Turning a Blind Eye
Lu Gang's thinking was wild and unrestrained; Fan Dao indicated it was very hard to accept.
After a period of discussion, everyone's minds were blank; since there was a ready-made plan, in the end, they could only tentatively decide to try it first.
Fan Dao also understood that with the program at this stage, other small staff members simply dared not speak; no one could bear the consequences of their own opinions leading to a drop in viewership ratings.
In other words, no one wanted to be the scapegoat.
The next day, Fan Dao met Lin Jiuze.
A standard young man, he looked very ordinary, had no arrogance, was very easygoing, and was also very low-key, completely different from the high-achiever from Massachusetts General Hospital that Fan Dao had imagined.
After saying some polite pleasantries, Fan Dao asked, "Doctor Lin, you work at Massachusetts General Hospital as..."
Lin Jiuze smiled slightly, "A general practitioner; after I go back from my vacation, I will lead a medical team to work."
Fan Dao was not very clear about what Lin Jiuze meant by leading a medical team to work, but Lu Gang frowned.
Was he already an Expert at Massachusetts General Hospital at such a young age?
Lin Jiuze seemed more mature and professional than he looked.
Was he bluffing?
Such a thought appeared in Lu Gang's mind.
But immediately after, Lu Gang forgot about Lin Jiuze and began to ponder over Massachusetts General Hospital.
"You are an Expert in the medical field, young and promising, with a bright future." Fan Dao did not stint on his praise, especially after learning about Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital after the meeting.
Compared to the other Interns, Fan Dao used the honorific "you," which made Lu Gang extremely uncomfortable.
But this discomfort was only a fleeting moment; in an instant, Lu Gang forgot who Fan Dao was talking to.
Fan Dao was also having a hard time; he had to stare at Lin Jiuze stiffly and forcefully to ensure he didn't appear rude.
"You're too kind; I'm just an Intern here at the program team." Lin Jiuze smiled slightly.
"We have arranged for you to have a small segment first, starting with receiving patients in the Emergency Department; what do you think..."
"That's fine, I will listen to the program team for everything," Lin Jiuze said very easily.
"That's good, thank you for your hard work," Fan Dao said very politely.
The program schedule was very tight and had already been delayed by a day, so Fan Dao didn't say anything more and took the Camera Crew and Lin Jiuze to the Emergency Department.
Introducing the new doctor was the job of the Review Room; Fan Dao went straight to the topic.
Arriving at the Emergency Department, Deputy Liang Zhuren of the Emergency Department was responsible for the reception.
With the popularity of the program, the Affiliated Hospital's attitude toward this variety show had also undergone some subtle changes.
Deputy Liang Zhuren took Lin Jiuze to see patients in the Emergency Department, triaging a few patients over—all of whom did not have very urgent conditions and had agreed to the program team's recording after communication.
Lin Jiuze had a strong ability to learn and used the shortest time to familiarize himself with the operation of the computer system.
Gradually, Fan Dao finally set his mind at ease.
Lin Jiuze looked more reliable than imagined; even if he couldn't go head-to-head with Ji Xiang, having such a young man with a great background appear was of great benefit to the production of the program.
Just as Fan Dao was pondering what to do tomorrow, a member of the Camera Crew came to his side and whispered, "Director, it seems there's a bit of a problem."
"What problem?" Fan Dao was puzzled.
He had been following the whole time, and at the very least, Fan Dao hadn't seen any mistakes so far.
"Just now, Teacher Li and I looked at the recorded program content; I don't know how it happened, but there is very little footage of Doctor Lin."
"What?" Fan Dao was startled.
Very little footage of recording Lin Jiuze?
Had he heard wrong?
The protagonists of the program were the various Interns, and the footage definitely had to be given to them. Although it would occasionally linger on the teaching teachers, it would certainly pay attention to the appearances of the main characters.
Since the program started recording, there hadn't been any slip-ups; this was the simplest matter of principle.
What the hell!
Fan Dao called the Camera Crew to his side and briefly reviewed the footage.
Damn it!
Sure enough, the most bizarre thing had happened! The Camera Crew had made a huge mistake.
The camera was aimed at Liang Zhuren of the Affiliated Hospital's Emergency Department, and even if Lin Jiuze appeared in the shot, it was only a fleeting glimpse, giving Fan Dao the feeling that the cameraman had done it on purpose, and Lin Jiuze was just an insignificant passerby.
"What are you doing!" Fan Dao said angrily.
"Director, I... I..." The cameraman didn't know how to explain it well; he stammered, and in the end, he didn't say anything coherent.
"Time is so tight, and you are the only Camera Crew here; how could you make such a big mistake!" Fan Dao stared sternly at the cameraman and roared in a low voice.
"I don't know how it happened either; as I was recording, I just forgot about the existence of Doctor Lin Jiuze."
"Damn it!" Fan Dao cursed.
He didn't reprimand the cameraman too much; the wood was already carved into a boat, so what else could be done.
"Pay attention from now on!" Fan Dao said sternly.
"Yes, yes, yes, Director, I must have not rested well recently and was a bit dazed," the cameraman said hurriedly, "Don't worry, if there's another problem, you can kick me out."
"Liang Zhuren, there is a patient for you to look at." A Nurse led a patient in.
Because of the need for triage, some patients who chose the program team wanted to see if they could be on camera, as their conditions weren't serious, and some even just came to get medicine. But there were also people who chose to come for a consultation because of Liang Zhuren's status; after all, he was a Director, so his medical level must be higher than an ordinary doctor.
The patient was a middle-aged man in his forties who had come to the Emergency Department by himself; he walked in slightly hunched over, clutching his stomach.
"Please sit down, where are you uncomfortable?" Liang Zhuren asked.
Lin Jiuze stood behind and to the side of Liang Zhuren, holding a few sheets of A4 paper and a ballpoint pen, writing something on the A4 paper.
He looked exactly like an Intern, diligently and painstakingly recording everything related to Clinical practice.
Lu Gang stood outside the door; his perspective allowed him to see both Liang Zhuren and Lin Jiuze, and he could also hear the conversation.
"Doctor, my stomach hurts around the navel, and it's been three days." The patient held the film in his hand and handed it to Liang Zhuren, "This is the film done at the community hospital; they said I have an Intestinal Obstruction."
The Patient's breathing was slightly rapid while speaking, gasping for air.
Lu Gang raised an eyebrow slightly; he subconsciously felt that things were not that simple.
The upright abdominal X-ray showed intestinal dilation accompanied by multiple air-fluid levels, a very typical presentation of Intestinal Obstruction.
"Have you had an Intestinal Obstruction before?" Deputy Liang Zhuren asked while looking at the film.
"No, I am usually in very good health; other than diarrhea, I have never had a stomachache."
"Did you eat anything special before this stomachache?"
"No, everything was very normal."
Deputy Liang Zhuren looked at the film and, without even asking Lin Jiuze beside him, turned to write an admission slip to have the Patient admitted to Gastrointestinal Surgery.
Fan Dao groaned inwardly at the sight.
Why did neither the cameraman nor Deputy Liang Zhuren pay any attention to Lin Jiuze!
