Chapter 583: Assertiveness
Fan Dao was somewhat bewildered.
He also noticed that in the process of observing the situation in the Consultation Room, he had forgotten the existence of Lin Jiuze many times.
Whether it was because Liang Zhuren turned to ask questions or because the Patient handed over films, he would shift his gaze for all sorts of reasons and then forget about this person, Lin Jiuze.
Damn it, it's like seeing a ghost, Fan Dao cursed to himself.
He stared fixedly at Lin Jiuze, who was constantly making notes on an A4 sheet of paper and looking up at the Patient from time to time.
This time, Fan Dao had built up his mental resolve, determined to keep his eyes on Lin Jiuze no matter what happened. He also knew that the cameraman was facing the same difficulty as him—as soon as they looked at Lin Jiuze, their eyes would lose focus and they would end up ignoring him.
"That... right, Doctor Lin, how do you handle similar patients at your hospital?" After handing the admission slip to the Patient, Liang Zhuren was just about to speak when he suddenly looked up and saw the camera, finally remembering what was going on, and asked in a low voice.
"Our hospital, huh." Lin Jiuze flipped over a page and wrote something on it rapidly, not answering Liang Zhuren's question directly.
Fan Dao's gaze followed Lin Jiuze as he shifted it to Liang Zhuren's face; this was a habit, to check Liang Zhuren's reaction when Lin Jiuze was being very "impolite" by not answering the question.
But a few seconds later, Fan Dao shuddered.
He had treated Lin Jiuze like an invisible person again, forgetting his existence.
Shifting his gaze back to Lin Jiuze, he saw him flipping through the A4 paper, writing something on it quickly.
How strange, is there something wrong with this person?
The Patient stood up, and seeing that Liang Zhuren seemed to have more to say, did not dare to leave, hesitating as he stood in place.
Meanwhile, Lin Jiuze kept his head down writing on the A4 paper, then looked up at the Patient once, and continued writing with his head down.
Fan Dao had never seen a doctor look at a patient the way Lin Jiuze did; he had no idea what he was writing on that A4 paper.
Is that how American doctors see patients? That can't be right.
"Doctor Lin?" Liang Zhuren was also stunned for a long time, and only when he saw the camera in his peripheral vision did he remember that he had just been talking to Lin Jiuze, who hadn't answered him, so he called out again.
Lin Jiuze was writing on the A4 paper, and when he looked up at the Patient for the last time, a satisfied smile appeared on his face.
"Liang Zhuren, how will the patient be treated after being admitted?" Lin Jiuze asked in return.
Fan Dao's brain crashed for a moment, as if Lin Jiuze were the superior doctor and Liang Zhuren were his subordinate junior doctor.
"We will administer an enema and observe the progression of the condition. Looking at the films, the Intestinal Obstruction doesn't seem severe, so..."
"I suggest checking... why does our hospital check blood vessels? A 64 slice CT?"
"Uh, yes. Which blood vessels to check?"
"The Superior Mesenteric Artery," Lin Jiuze said with a smile.
Although Lin Jiuze was very calm and low-key, Fan Dao had an extremely eerie feeling—Lin Jiuze looked calm, but in reality, he was arrogant to the extreme, yet also professional to the extreme.
In that instant, although Fan Dao did not understand medicine, he firmly believed that Lin Jiuze's judgment was correct.
Found a treasure! Fan Dao felt a surge of joy.
"Go tell the Camera Crew, if there is one more missed shot, they can get the hell out of the production team," Fan Dao said to his Xiao Zhu Li.
"Ah?" Fan Dao's assistant was stunned for a moment.
"And don't bother working in this circle anymore, go take wedding gigs," Fan Dao said, staring fiercely at Lin Jiuze.
Fan Dao's assistant rarely heard his director speak in such a stern tone; he quickly walked in small steps to the cameraman's side and whispered a few words.
The cameraman woke up as if from a dream and hurriedly adjusted the camera position.
I guessed right, Fan Dao thought to himself.
It really is like seeing a ghost; that young doctor from Massachusetts General Hospital has a strange magic about him, making people unknowingly treat him as an invisible person.
Fan Dao didn't know if his guess was correct, so he could only focus all his attention on watching Lin Jiuze, not daring to let his mind wander, fearing that he would forget Lin Jiuze the next second.
"Superior Mesenteric Artery, Superior Mesenteric Artery..." After muttering a few times, Liang Zhuren put Lin Jiuze out of his mind, mumbled to himself, and looked at the films carefully again.
The Standing Abdominal Plain Film showed air-fluid levels, a very clear image of Intestinal Obstruction; how did he distinguish that there was a problem with the patient's Superior Mesenteric Artery?
"Doesn't seem necessary, go get admitted." Liang Zhuren had forgotten Lin Jiuze; after reviewing the films again, he put them back into the film bag.
"Liang Zhuren, I suggest doing a 64 slice CT first to determine if there is a problem with the patient's mesenteric artery."
Just as Liang Zhuren was about to hand the film bag to the Patient, the bag was pressed down on the table, and Lin Jiuze said in a deep voice.
"..." Liang Zhuren was startled.
Fan Dao and the cameraman were also stunned for a moment.
Lin Jiuze, who had just been gentle as jade and as nonexistent as an invisible person, now appeared like a fierce tiger.
"Do... Do... Doctor Lin, are you sure?" Liang Zhuren asked, stuttering.
"Sure."
Liang Zhuren was so pressured by that aura that even breathing was difficult; he was somewhat annoyed and ashamed, but didn't dare to say a word of nonsense, and after thinking for a moment, said, "Then let's ask Gastrointestinal Surgery to come for a consultation."
Lin Jiuze didn't say anything more; he wasn't very clear about the procedures here and maintained restraint.
Liang Zhuren went out to make a phone call, leaving Lin Jiuze and the Patient in the Consultation Room.
Fan Dao had his Xiao Zhu Li go and urge the cameraman again not to miss any shots of Lin Jiuze, then followed Liang Zhuren out.
After finishing the call, Liang Zhuren regained his senses and was breathing heavily with anger.
"Liang Zhuren, please calm down." Fan Dao was cunning and naturally wouldn't add fuel to the fire.
"Fan Dao, what kind of people has your production team brought in?" Liang Zhuren said angrily. "Are they professional doctors? Massachusetts General Hospital, and they have to have their own medical team, what nonsense!"
"I don't know either, they were introduced to participate in the program by an Expert in Shanghai. Please calm down, don't lower yourself to the level of a child. Maybe... maybe... please don't be angry."
Fan Dao tried to persuade him while observing his expression.
Liang Zhuren was clearly suppressed by Lin Jiuze's assertiveness just now and had lost his composure for a moment, and now he was taking his anger out on him.
"Liang Zhuren, who is coming from Gastrointestinal Surgery in a while?" Fan Dao changed the subject.
"Miao Zong."
"Oh, oh, I've met him, he's the Resident Chief of Gastrointestinal Surgery. When I first came to the hospital, I heard everyone calling him 'Chief Resident' and wasn't used to it, and they also call professors and department heads 'Boss'."
"It's all just nonsense," Liang Zhuren said casually, his tone resentful; it was clear he was still brooding over what had just happened.
Fan Dao tried to persuade Liang Zhuren while taking the opportunity to learn a bit about Lin Jiuze from him, all the while watching the Emergency Department corridor.
Soon, Miao Zong appeared at the end of the corridor.
Fan Dao did not see the figure of Ji Xiang and felt slightly disappointed.
The anticipated collision between Mars and Earth did not occur.
