Chapter 59: Night Emperor Reappears

~6 min read 1,051 words

The next day was the weekend, and Dali slept until morning.

Morning light fell through the window into their dorm; Dali took a glance and saw Harry, Luoen, and the others still sound asleep, so he didn't hurry to get up.

"Perhaps it's time to go back and take a look at that place."

Dali thought to himself.

Immediately, he began silently chanting that honorific in his mind.

"You are the supreme sovereign."

"You are the embodiment of order, the personification of chaos, and the source of all rules."

"You are order, and also disorder."

As Dali's voice echoed in his mind, he felt his soul soar, and in an instant he found himself in a splendid palace.

This place was exactly as it was when he last left; everything was a manifestation he had created then.

"What exactly is this place, and why does that honorific point here?"

Dali curiously surveyed his surroundings.

This place had originally been nothing but a void of chaos; it was only after Dali arrived that he brought order to it.

And the appearance this place took was completely a manifestation Dali had fashioned after the Tarot Society.

There was a bronze long table, a thick gray mist, but none of the familiar figures were present.

Of course, it's likely that no one else could enter this place.

Dali walked around the palace and found that, aside from the things he had manifested, there was nothing else to explore.

"Perhaps, with my abilities, I still cannot fully discover this place's function."

Dali speculated.

He pondered for a moment, extended his right hand, and after a brief instant a bronze book appeared in his hand.

"Having substance, it seems I can bring some things here."

This Trensost Brass Book, Dali usually carries it on his person, even placing it under his pillow when he sleeps.

He flipped through the bronze book, but found nothing unusual.

Dali turned his gaze toward the ground.

Last time, when his spirit returned, he had looked downward from a bird's-eye view and, through Hogwarts Castle, had seen his own body.

This time, he used the same method, looking toward the ground.

The solid floor tiles gradually faded away, and Dali saw Hogwarts below.

"Got it."

Suddenly, Dali's vision brightened; he absorbed the Trensost Brass Book into his body, and his formerly illusory spirit immediately felt substantial.

He slightly tilted his body and began to fall downward.

The wind howled around him, and Dali felt an unprecedented sensation—his body existed in a superposition of illusion and substance, like a confluence of rules.

"So many traces of magic."

Dali's illusory apparition descended above Hogwarts, and he could clearly sense that the castle contained a great deal of ancient magical traces.

Many of these were defensive magics that enveloped the entire Hogwarts.

As his spiritual power turned, Hogwarts in Dali's sight instantly underwent a subtle change, with numerous intertwining lines appearing in his field of view.

"The embodiment of rules."

Gazing at the scene before him, Dali seemed to grasp something.

"Who goes there?"

A voice sounded, and immediately a figure appeared suddenly above Hogwarts.

White hair floated in the breeze, and behind his half‑moon‑shaped eyes lay a pair of remarkably deep eyes.

Dengbulido gazed into the midair; although there was nothing there, his perception could clearly detect the anomaly.

A black phantom hovered there, looking down upon Hogwarts below.

His aura was profoundly strange yet powerful, making Dengbulido sense danger.

Moreover, there was an indescribable oppressive feeling.

Dali never expected that merely peeking at Hogwarts would alarm Dengbulido.

This Hogwarts headmaster is truly formidable.

Dengbulido's gaze grew grave; not knowing what the phantom exactly was, he gripped his wand tightly in his right hand beneath his robes.

"Night Emperor!!"

Suddenly, Dengbulido blurted out.

He recalled the black shadow that had appeared in the underground of Gulingge, the one who called himself the Night Emperor.

Dali didn't expect Dengbulido to recognize him at a glance.

But upon reflection, it's normal—after all, this sort of black shadow had shown up during the recent Gulingge intrusion incident, causing quite a stir, so Dengbulido's association is understandable.

"What do you wish to do, sir?"

Dengbulido asked in a low voice.

His expression eased slightly.

The one who called himself the Night Emperor had saved Harry and Dali during the Gulingge incident, so he is likely not a villain or dark wizard.

Of course, these cannot be completely certain.

But at least, in some respects this person is not aligned with Voldemort.

"There are evil spirits in Hogwarts."

Dali pondered for a moment and then spoke.

"Evil spirit?"

Dengbulido frowned.

He didn't quite understand exactly what an evil spirit referred to.

Dali said nothing more.

A clever man like Dengbulido only needs a little reminder, and he should be able to pinpoint the problem.

Dali felt a sharp pain in his brain.

He knew the time was about right.

Lack hesitation, his spirit instantly dissipated and returned to his own body.

"It's gone."

Dengbulido stared at the sky.

The black shadow, just as the Appearance, vanished directly in midair.

"What does he actually mean?"

"Is it just to remind me that there are evil spirits in Hogwarts?"

"Evil spirit, what exactly does it refer to?"

Dengbulido furrowed his brow.

His expression was very solemn.

The recent strange incidents have been too many.

Moreover, this Night Emperor that emerged from nowhere also made Dengbulido uneasy.

An unknown, unjudgeable, powerful existence.

And it seemed to be spying on Hogwarts.

Professor Dengbulido glanced at the sky again, Lack any abnormality, and his figure instantly vanished, returning to his office.

Gryffindor Tower.

Dali opened his eyes, feeling slightly weary.

"I didn't expect to alarm Dengbulido; he probably didn't notice anything, right?"

"But the evil spirit matter counts as a successful report; the rest depends on how he handles it."

Dali let out a slight sigh of relief, turned over, and prepared to continue sleeping, to replenish the spiritual energy he had just expended.

However, after he had dozed off for a while and hadn't fully fallen asleep, he was woken up.

"Dali, wake up, Professor Dengbulido asks you to go to his office right now."

Dali opened his eyes, looked at Grade Leader Percy standing before him, and felt a bit stunned.
