Chapter 61: Hogwarts Law Enforcement Officer

~6 min read 1,005 words

Dali's mouth corner twitched slightly.

He didn't expect the pot he threw out to return to him so quickly.

Damn boomerang!

He originally didn't want to get more involved in this matter, and even considered not reporting Quirrell, letting things develop on their own; as long as it didn't affect his interests, he really didn't mind.

But later, considering that doing so was indeed overly cold, Dali chose to tell Dengbulido about the evil spirit as the Night Emperor.

Thus, the matter was no longer his concern but Dengbulido's, even Hogwarts's, and he no longer needed to worry about anything.

But he didn't expect that in less than an hour, the boomerang would return to him.

"This..." Dali didn't know how to begin.

"Don't worry, I will guarantee your safety. Moreover, you don't need to do anything; just wander around Hogwarts' castle more often, and if you discover anything, just tell me. You don't have to face the evil yourself."

Dengbulido said patiently.

"But I'm afraid my perception might err, and then..." Dali said hesitantly.

"It's fine, I will judge whether your perception is accurate; you only need to tell me any unsafe situations you notice."

Dengbulido explained.

Dali originally wanted to refuse.

After all, this wasn't his matter, but Hogwarts' own security failure, letting a teacher possessed by an evil spirit inside.

But after hearing Dengbulido's explanation, something stirred in Dali's heart.

Perhaps he could make use of this.

"Professor Dengbulido, I can use my Extraordinary Ability to help check for anomalies appearing in Hogwarts, but as a first-year student wandering the castle, I could easily break school rules, and there are places I cannot go."

"I hope you can grant me some permissions, so I can better complete the task."

"For example, the Grade Leader's permissions?"

Dali said seriously.

Hearing that, Dengbulido thought for a moment.

Dali indeed made a reasonable point; Dengbulido couldn't just have Dali work without giving anything.

However, the Grade Leader's permissions were a bit too much for Dali.

"You are not old enough for the Grade Leader's permissions, and each house already has its own Grade Leader; I can't make a first-year freshman a Grade Leader."

"However, I can grant you some permissions that let you roam freely around the campus and, within reasonable limits, break some school rules. How does that sound?"

Dengbulido asked with a light laugh.

Dali smiled slightly; his goal had already been achieved.

"Fine." Dali said, then added, "Helping Hogwarts check for possible evil and anomalies is really cool. So, does that make me a Hogwarts Law Enforcement Officer?"

"Hahaha, that's right, you are our little Hogwarts Law Enforcement Officer!" Dengbulido said laughing.

"Great."

Dali said excitedly.

He was truly delighted.

Because Dengbulido, as Hogwarts' headmaster, has the authority to appoint Hogwarts Law Enforcement Officers, even if it was just a joke, it was enough to create a Mysticism-level connection between Dali and the Hogwarts School of Magic.

And right after Dengbulido finished speaking, Dali clearly felt his connection with the entire Hogwarts School of Magic tighten considerably. This Mysticism-level link, though intangible, was enough to boost Dali's Extraordinary Ability within the Hogwarts School of Magic.

And this will be the key for Dali to assimilate the Law Enforcement Officer's Extraordinary Trait.

As for the barbarian's Extraordinary Trait, when rules cannot apply during the execution of the Hogwarts Law Enforcement Officer's duties, solving it through physical persuasion is quite reasonable.

"Alright, go then, and remember your Law Enforcement Officer task."

Dengbulido reminded with a smile.

"Okay."

Dali left Dengbulido's office cheerfully.

"Oh, what a fine child, with a great Extraordinary Ability and also a warm heart."

The Sorting Hat couldn't help but exclaim.

"Indeed, a fine child."

Dengbulido looked toward the Doorway and said softly.

"By the way, Dengbulido, where did you get the news that Hogwarts was invaded by evil?" the Sorting Hat asked curiously.

"I can't tell you that."

"You are just a hat."

Dengbulido said.

"Alright, alright, I'm just a hat."

The Sorting Hat fell silent.

Dengbulido fell into contemplation.

Before calling Dali over, he had already inspected the entire Hogwarts, yet he found no anomalous places.

Was the Night Emperor lying, or did he miss something?

He was uncertain.

But the current situation was indeed not optimistic.

The Philosopher's Stone was hidden within the school, and the Forbidden Forest already showed the Appearance of dark wizards, and even the castle interior had issues.

"Is it really that coincidental? Harry just arrived at Hogwarts, and so many things have happened," Dengbulido thought to himself.

Now, he even had to consider Harry's safety here.

"I hope Dali's Extraordinary Ability can play some part."

Dengbulido slowly stood up and approached a door.

He gently waved his hand, the doors on both sides swiftly opened, and an ancient, odd basin slowly flew out, stopping before him.

Dengbulido drew his wand, pointed it at his temple, slowly extracted a single strand of silvery‑white, mist‑like material, and poured it into the basin before him.

"Perhaps, I really missed something important."

Dengbulido sank into his own memories; he needed to carefully examine some recent events, which might help him find some clues.

On the other side.

Dali walked down the corridor outside, his expression having returned to normal.

"The Law Enforcement Officer's Extraordinary Trait digestion takes at least over a month, and on top of that, digesting the barbarian's Extraordinary Trait is even slower. In the case of dual Sequence, one must be more cautious."

"Then, before I finish digesting the Extraordinary Trait, let's not tell Dengbulido about Quirrell's matter."

"During this period, I will keep a close watch on him to prevent the Appearance of problems."

Dali had already made a decision.

According to the principle of equivalent exchange, Dengbulido gave him a rapid method to digest the Extraordinary Trait, so during this time he will also, as much as possible, guarantee Hogwarts' safety.

Once his Magic Pill is fully digested, Quirrell will have no further use value, and then he can be sold outright.
