Chapter 77: Little Ones Are Also Cute
At three p. m., when Dali and the other two arrived at Hagrid's little cabin, he had already prepared afternoon tea in advance, waiting for their arrival.
"Thank heavens you haven't caused any trouble lately, and the punishment is already over."
Hagrid smiled and said to the three of them.
Harry and Luoen smiled awkwardly.
Dali's expression didn't change; any punishment was as if it didn't exist to him.
"Here, have something to eat; I made rockskin biscuits."
Hagrid said this as he placed his rockskin biscuits before the three and poured each a cup of brewed tea.
Dali took one, felt its hardness, and after smiling, put it back.
Harry seemed a bit embarrassed, tried it, and then silently slipped the biscuit in his pocket.
Only Luoen foolishly took a bite; as he did, Dali and Harry both noticed his complexion change noticeably, a painful expression appearing on his face.
His tooth almost cracked from that bite of rockskin biscuit.
Dali and Harry exchanged a glance, stifling laughter with a hint of pain.
Luoen looked at them plaintively; the two clearly knew the rockskin biscuit was faulty, yet none told him—how infuriating.
"Ahem."
Dali cleared his throat lightly and straightened his expression.
They came today with serious business.
"Hagrid, how's that injured unicorn we talked about earlier?"
Dali asked.
The lawyer's ability began to take effect.
"That unicorn, it's recovered well; luckily we discovered it in time last time, otherwise it definitely wouldn't have survived."
When Hagrid spoke of the animals, his eyes brightened considerably.
"It's truly lucky to have met someone as caring as you; another wizard might not have saved it," Dali said with a smile, praising.
Hagrid gave a slightly proud smile and said, "I believe most wizards would extend a helping hand when such pure creatures are harmed; I just happen to know how to care for them."
"I can tell you really like these animals," Dali said, then quickly changed tack, asking, "Hagrid, Harry and I both come from Muggle families and know nothing about Magic World creatures; could you tell us about them? Also, what kinds of magical creatures have you kept?"
"That's really a lot."
Hagrid said excitedly.
These days, few children love animals as much as Dali, and hardly anyone has ever discussed his hobbies with him, let alone enjoys hearing about them.
Hagrid spoke without reservation, excitedly describing the various Magic World creatures; regarding their habits, he spoke off the cuff, mentioning many animals that even Luoen, a child from a wizard family, had never heard of.
"Speaking of that, I must say I have plenty of experience caring for large magical creatures; I've even thought how nice it would be if I could keep a dragon," Hagrid said.
Luoen looked at Hagrid in shock, lowered his voice and said to Harry and Dali, "Keeping a dragon privately is illegal; it's surprising Hagrid would even think of that."
Dali ignored Luoen and, seizing the moment, continued, "So you must have experience raising large magical creatures; but such beasts are usually temperamental and hard to keep, right?"
"Exactly, but I have my own method. I once kept a three-headed dog named Lu Wei; it was very temperamental, yet you only need to play some music, and it instantly falls asleep peacefully."
"Magical creatures are like that; once you understand their habits, you can handle them easily," Hagrid said proudly.
"I see," Dali nodded satisfactorily.
Meanwhile, beside him, Luoen and Harry stared wide-eyed in shock.
"Yes, Lu Wei, it's really cute."
Hagrid showed a rapt expression.
"I bought it last year from a Greek guy; it obeys me well. When I first got it, it was tiny, very cute. Unfortunately I lent it to Dengbulido, otherwise I could have shown it to you; you'd surely fall in love with it," Hagrid said regretfully.
Harry and Luoen's expressions shifted from shock to fear.
Seeing Hagrid lost in his memory, Dali, still using his lawyer and Law Enforcement Officer abilities, pressed further, "You lent it to Professor Dengbulido? Does Professor Dengbulido also like these little... animals?"
"Professor Dengbulido needs Lu Wei to guard things for him, but I think he probably likes Lu Wei as well," Hagrid said.
"Guard things?"
Dali asked.
"Yes, Professor Dengbulido and Ni Ke·Le Mei..."
At that point, Hagrid snapped awake.
"Oh my god, what did I just tell you?"
"Damn!"
Hagrid's face turned sour, full of anger; he was angry at himself.
He shouldn't have spoken about these things, especially to Dali and the others.
But today, for some unknown reason, even without drinking, he felt as if drunk and unintentionally blurted out many things he shouldn't have.
"Hagrid, is there a problem? You only told us about the magical creatures you've kept; there's nothing else, right, Harry?" Dali said immediately.
"Yes, Hagrid, we were just thinking, if you really kept a dragon, that would be really cool," Harry said quickly.
"Uh... like that? Hahaha, I also think keeping a dragon would be cool."
Seeing that Dali and the others weren't quibbling over Lu Wei or Ni Ke·Le Mei, Hagrid breathed a sigh of relief.
Now that he thought about it, there really wasn't a big issue; after all, the three are still just children, and even hearing about Lu Wei and Ni Ke·Le Mei, they couldn't grasp the deeper mysteries.
Dali took a deep breath, and his Extraordinary Ability receded.
"It's getting late; we should head back. Have a pleasant weekend, Hagrid,"
Dali stood up and said.
"Indeed it's late; you all hurry back to the castle,"
Hagrid added.
He also feared continuing the conversation, he let slip, and also said some secret things.
Dali and the two others politely said goodbye to Hagrid.
「My goodness, that three-headed dog actually has a name!!! Fluffy?? It's tiny, so cute??? 」 Luoen Shock not cease, speaking in rapid succession.
「Nicolas Flamel, this name is very important; that thing must be related to this person. As long as we find this person, we will know what that thing really is. 」 Harry also said loudly.
「Nicolas Flamel, I must have seen this name somewhere before. 」
「Give me some time! 」
Dali gently closed his eyes.
