Chapter 9: The Method of Role‑Playing

~6 min read 1,104 words

"I…" Harry hesitated to speak, but didn't know where to begin.

"Sit down, we'll talk slowly."

Dali smiled and said.

Harry slowly sat in the chair beside him, and after a moment of silence said, "I also don't know why that glass vanished, it's just... whenever I'm in danger or extremely angry, strange things often happen."

"Oh? What other strange things?" Dali asked thoughtfully.

Harry took a breath and glanced at Dali.

"Well, before, Uncle Vernon complained that my hair was messy, cut it off directly, but the next day it grew back. You should still remember that," Harry said slowly.

Dali nodded; it was indeed the case. No matter how short they cut Harry's hair, it always grew back the next day.

"So, I'm also curious—what exactly is going on?"

Harry shrugged.

What he said was all true; although he often imagined himself having great power, he also knew it was probably just his fantasy.

Dali said nothing.

He could see that Harry truly wasn't lying, meaning he genuinely didn't know what these things meant.

"Alright."

Dali didn't press further and slowly stood up.

Since there was nothing to ask, Dali didn't force it.

His most important task now was to adapt his body and digest the Extraordinary Trait inside him.

Of Course, he also needed to shed the excess flesh.

When passing by Harry, Dali raised his hand and patted Harry's shoulder; the gesture made Harry instinctively dodge, yet Dali's hand still landed on his shoulder.

To Harry's surprise, Dali didn't press hard, just gave a light tap.

"What I did before was wrong; I won't bully you again."

After speaking, Dali walked into the darkness and vanished at the stairwell.

"His... brain is broken?"

Harry took half a breath before regaining his senses.

Is this still the Dali he knew?

He always felt today's Dali was very strange, as if he had become a different person.

"Fine, if his brain really is broken, then I hope it stays broken forever."

Harry shook his head, got up, poured a glass of water, and after drinking it returned to his own stairwell to sleep.

The weekend, and Dali's Birthday, passed just like that.

What the two would face next were a short semester and further studies.

What surprised Harry was that Dali actually kept his word; over the next month or so, he never bullied him again.

Not only that, Dali realized his own obesity and began dieting.

This stunned Uncle Vernon and Aunt Penny, who had no idea what method Dali used, yet they accepted it all, and under Dali's persuasion Harry's subsequent life became much easier.

During that month, Uncle Vernon and Aunt Penny couldn't be said to be especially kind to Harry, but they no longer hurled harsh words at him as before.

Such a life felt so unreal to Harry.

Summer vacation arrived quickly.

"It's been over a month since returning from that Guiyi Shijie, how pleasant it is."

Dali rolled over, got up, yanked the Curtains open, and looking at the bright world outside, a cheerful smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

In a little over a month, he had already adapted to his current life, which was supposed to belong to him all along.

No strange Deities, no evil monsters, only petty squabbles among classmates—that's childhood.

Dali looked at himself in the mirror; the month‑plus of dieting was quite effective, and he had successfully shed the excess flesh.

Now he looked far more spirited than before, with golden hair, blue eyes, sharply defined cheeks—far better than his previous pork‑chop image, even a bit handsome.

"Hmm, next I need to plan how to digest the Extraordinary Trait."

Dali thought to himself.

Digesting the Extraordinary Trait relies on role‑playing. That is, following the Sequence's name and doing things that match that name.

He currently belongs to two Sequences, 9: one is Lawyer, the other is Arbitrator.

Playing these two Sequences is relatively difficult for a child his age.

The role‑playing of Lawyer, as the name suggests, is best achieved by actually becoming a real lawyer, thereby playing the lawyer and quickly consuming the Extraordinary Trait inside.

But Dali, an eleven‑year‑old child, clearly cannot do that.

Arbitrator is similar; ideally a profession related to arbitration, which would speed the digestion of the Extraordinary Trait.

But Dali currently lacks those conditions.

What he can do is play the roles of lawyer and arbitrator at school, doing similar things among his classmates.

Yet such role‑playing remains too superficial, and after a month had passed, Dali still couldn't fully digest the two Extraordinary Traits inside him.

For Dali, who had already Reach High Sequence in that Guiyi Shijie, this was rather slow.

So he plans, during the summer vacation, to see if he can find some part‑time jobs to fulfill his role‑playing and completely digest the Extraordinary Trait.

Glancing at the time, Dali thought as he walked down the stairs.

In the kitchen.

"Go fry an egg."

Aunt Penny said to Harry.

"Okay, Aunt Penny."

Harry said obediently.

Recently, his life at Dali's house has been not bad; for the things Aunt Penny arranged, he always does his best to complete them.

"Oh, what a wonderful day, our little Dada got up really early."

Seeing Dali walk over, Penny immediately smiled and said.

"Dear, are you planning to go for a run first, or just have breakfast directly?"

Penny asked.

"Let's have breakfast."

Dali said, nodding his head toward Harry.

"Okay." Penny kissed Dali's forehead.

"Dad, Mom, I've been thinking that Harry has grown up, and that stairwell is probably no longer suitable for him to continue living in; otherwise, let him move to that small bedroom on the second floor."

Dali said offhandedly.

Vernon, who was watching the news, immediately furrowed his brows upon hearing that.

Penny's face also fell considerably.

And Harry, looking at Dali with a shocked expression, even caused the frying egg in the pot to emit a wisp of black smoke.

"To prevent him from accidentally damaging the stairwell."

Dali shrugged and said lightly.

"This... well, let's see how he performs next."

Vernon hesitated for a moment, feeling that what Dali said seemed quite reasonable.

"Hmph, before the summer vacation ends, if he doesn't make any mistakes, I could let him stay upstairs." Penny said with a long face.

"Good."

Dali nodded his head.

A sound came from outside the door, like the sound of a mailbox.

"Harry, go get the mail."

Dali winked at Harry and said loudly.

"All right!"

Harry immediately put down the burnt egg in his hand and ran toward the doorway.
