Chapter 24
"He told us that since the other party has to take out a large sum of Galleons to buy materials every time, he must first go to Gringotts to withdraw money; perhaps we can find some clues through Gringotts."
"So we gave Bogrod some gifts, and he let us see the transaction records of those few days. We found that two people withdrew a large amount of Galleons on the day they bought potion materials; one person was named Stephen Conberbatch, and one was Murphy Durkheim."
"After our investigation, we found that Conberbatch is a fake name, there is no such person in the wizarding world. That Stephen Conberbatch is Murphy Durkheim!"
"Then we had someone draw a portrait of Murphy Durkheim and showed it to Slughorn, confirming that he is that Peter Parker!"
"Durkheim..." Lucius pondered for a while, and suddenly remembered this surname, "Sanders, Natalie... Murphy..."
"So it was him!" Lucius understood, and at the same time, he had a new doubt in his heart, "Where did he get so much money?"
Before those two crouching dragons and phoenixes, Sanders and Natalie, went in, they even borrowed a few hundred Galleons from him!
Where did their son get tens of thousands of Galleons?
"This is what I want to say next," the short wizard said, "Murphy Durkheim's money was all exchanged with gold; he claimed that his old house dug up gold buried by his ancestors."
"But we all know that's a lie; the Durkheim family has been declining for a hundred years, it's impossible to have any gold! Later we thought of that Muggle farm again; Paped said he had seen a Muggle vehicle send a lot of medicinal materials to the barn that day, and I had him draw the logo on that vehicle. It looks like this."
The short wizard said, taking out a piece of parchment, on which was drawn a pattern resembling an opened umbrella.
"Our people spent a lot of effort to trace the meaning of this logo; this is a Muggle company named Umbrella. They have been very famous in the Muggle world recently because they sell a potion that can immediately heal wounds to Muggles..."
"A potion that can immediately heal wounds, what does this make you think of?" the short wizard asked.
"You mean? Potion?"
"Yes! Essence of Dittany!"
"And you guess, what is the material Murphy Durkheim bought the most in our shop? It's dittany!"
"Everything is clear, master!" the short wizard said excitedly: "That Murphy, he is selling potions to Muggles! He earned countless pounds, then exchanged them for gold, to be able to buy so many of our materials! We used Veritaserum on a guy from a Muggle pharmacy; he said, the Umbrella Corporation earns at least one million pounds a month, equivalent to twenty thousand Galleons!"
"Hiss..."
Lucius gasped.
Twenty thousand Galleons!
A month!
His Malfoy family, all their industries combined, couldn't earn a few thousand Galleons a month!
A poor kid whose parents died, why?!
And he actually dared not bring him along!
"Daring to sell potions to Muggles, publicly defying the Wizarding Secrecy Act!" Lucius's pale face twisted, "What big guts! What big guts!"
This was the path his Malfoy family once had glory in, until later the execution of the Wizarding Secrecy Act became more and more stringent, and they withdrew their business in the Muggle world, and because of this, their income plummeted.
Now, someone actually wanted to bypass his Malfoy family and play this path himself?
Unforgivable!
Unpardonable!
"Did you find evidence!?" Lucius asked eagerly.
"We found their factory; all the potions sold to Muggles are produced from that factory; those Muggle workers and those potions in production are all evidence!"
"Good! Good!" Lucius stood up abruptly, "Go and bring them back to me!"
"No! I'll go myself! I want to personally send that bastard kid to Azkaban!"
"Also! Tell Bogrod about this and freeze his account!"
"Dittany, Flobberworm, Horklump, Unicorn horn powder, dried Billywig, Monkshood..."
Knockturn Alley, behind the Siren's Song, Murphy put a pile of bags in front of him.
He opened every bag and checked the materials inside, then ticked them off on the list in his hand.
After a full half hour, Murphy finally finished the inspection work of all potion materials.
Only then did he take a small cloth bag from his waist and throw it to Lisandro, who was waiting impatiently opposite, "The quantity is a bit less than I imagined, but it's enough. This is the payment, count it."
While Lisandro was counting the money, Murphy packed all the medicinal material bags into an Undetectable Extension Charm box; he bought this box at Borgin and Burkes, and it was said to be an heirloom of some ancient family, asking for three thousand Galleons.
For what Borgin and Burkes said, Murphy wouldn't believe a word, but the box was indeed good; although the space inside was still far from Newt Scamander's "small cave", it was enough to be the size of a warehouse, enough for him to transport various supplies.
So Murphy still patiently bargained for a long time and bought it back for five hundred Galleons.
After packing the things, Lisandro over there also finished counting the money, and the two shook hands.
"Happy cooperation," Murphy said.
"Wish you bad luck, card shark," Lisandro said with mockery.
Why is this brother still thinking about the cheating thing.
He raised his eyebrows, "Be open-minded, brother, you earned quite a few Galleons today."
Apparating away from Knockturn Alley, Murphy came to a new warehouse he had just rented, poured out the medicinal materials, and was considering whether to rent a place for Alex nearby so he could come to the warehouse to work, when the brick phone rang.
Murphy connected, and heard Patrick's anxious voice: "Where did you go? Hurry up and come to the factory, something big happened!"
"What's wrong, what happened?"
"The factory was bombed, the workers were kidnapped, it might be a terrorist attack, hurry up and come!"
Murphy was stunned for a moment, not daring to delay, hung up the phone and directly Apparated to the factory.
Walking into the factory gate, Murphy frowned; the original iron archway seemed to have been twisted by some force, directly twisted into a twist, the factory was filled with thick smoke, and half of the factory building had collapsed.
This really looked like it had suffered a terrorist attack.
Murphy found Patrick, who was directing some workers to move rubble and clean up the factory building.
"What's going on?"
Patrick glanced at Murphy, seemingly surprised that he arrived so quickly, but he soon said: "Someone attacked the factory just now, the security guard was scared silly, saying someone used magic to blow up the factory wall, and then grabbed a few of our workers and disappeared. I've already called the police, they will be here soon."
"How many people did they grab?" Murphy asked.
"Five, it was after work at the time, there weren't many people left in the factory. Also, they seemed to have taken away a lot of materials and packaged potions. I suspect it's those pharmaceutical companies! They are truly lawless! You must be careful, they can even attack the factory, they might also be detrimental to you!"
Murphy had a dark face, "I know, you deal with the police, I'll go ask that security guard."
Murphy found that poor black uncle, and after driving everyone else out of the room, directly used Legilimency on him, and then gave him an Obliviate, making him fall asleep.
From the security guard's memory, he had already seen the appearance of the attackers.
That pale golden long hair, and his elegant but arrogant posture, made Murphy recognize the other party immediately even though he hadn't seen him before.
"Lucius."
