Chapter 1153: Was he overthinking it?!!
"Shameless!"
Harry shouted angrily.
But he was completely helpless to do anything about it.
Of course, besides that, he was also a little excited.
"I want Umbridge to go and trouble Snape, so that Snape won't have the time to come after me!"
Harry whispered to Ron, making sure Darren didn't hear.
He was terrified that Darren would say he was being disrespectful to a professor.
Their first class this morning was History of Magic. The History of Magic course was taught by Professor Binns.
Harry and the others had originally thought Umbridge would go to spot-check Professor Binns's class, but she didn't.
Umbridge didn't go to Professor Binns's classroom at all.
Professor Binns remained in his usual state, looking as if he were about to breathe his last at any moment, and finished the lesson in a dull, uninteresting way.
After History of Magic came Potions. But unfortunately, neither of the two Potions lessons was spot-checked.
Instead, the homework he had handed in was thrown in front of him by Snape. A clear 'D' was written on it.
Snape sneered, "If you were to produce something like this in your Ordinary Wizarding Level examinations, then this grade would be your final result!"
Harry was furious.
But Snape seemed to have no intention of giving up on mocking him.
After handing out the assignments, Snape sneered in the classroom, "I assume you are all people of normal intelligence."
"But your homework has made me realize that my knowledge is still shallow; some people's brains are stuffed with paste."
"If anyone gets a 'D' on the next assignment, I think they should prepare to be put in detention by me!"
"Someone else got a 'D'?"
Malfoy put on an exaggerated expression of shock. He looked at Harry.
Clearly, he understood perfectly well that this referred to Harry. This made Harry clench his fists.
He believed that Ron's work was no better than his, but since only he had received a 'D', Snape was clearly targeting him.
"'O' stands for Outstanding; only one student in your class achieved this grade."
"'E' stands for Exceeds Expectations; again, only one student in your class achieved this grade."
"'A' stands for Acceptable; quite a few of you achieved this grade. 'P' is Poor, 'D' is Dreadful."
"I hope you can firmly remember these grades and not let yourself be the one who gets a 'D' every time!"
"If I could, I would really like to give some people a 'T'—yes, that's Troll; their brains are just like a troll's, which fills me with doubt!"
Snape mocked them mercilessly in the classroom.
To avoid getting another 'D' on his class grade, Harry watched every step Snape wrote on the blackboard carefully this time.
Although the brewing wasn't exactly a success, at least the color was acceptable.
After all, Snape had required sky blue, and the potion he produced was light blue.
"As long as you put in the effort, there's at least a result, right?"
Hermione offered a half-hearted comfort to Harry as they walked out of the classroom. Harry gave an awkward smile.
His gaze fell on Darren.
Because Darren's expression had been a bit strange whenever he was in Potions class lately. He didn't even greet Snape anymore.
Although he still went to Snape's office for detention every day, Darren would come out looking a bit angry each time.
He had asked Darren, and Darren always said that Snape was bad-mouthing him and Dumbledore, which made him uncomfortable.
At first, Harry really thought it was nothing, perhaps Darren was overthinking it. But now, looking at Darren's state, he began to suspect whether there was truly something wrong with Snape.
"Darren?"
Harry asked worriedly.
Darren seemed to snap out of it only then.
He smiled and said, "It's nothing, I was just a bit distracted."
This was what Snape had taught him.
He didn't ask him to act very well, just that he stop looking at him or talking to him during class.
It was enough to just sit there and look thoughtful for a while in front of Harry after class. Darren wasn't willing to cooperate with anything more complex.
After all, the little Saint-Father couldn't really let others know that he was particularly good at acting, could he? So, this was the extent of what he would do.
This left Snape with no choice.
He could only find ways to reduce the performance aspect for him.
Harry took the bait, just as expected.
"Darren, are you still suspecting that Snape isn't a good person?"
Harry said solemnly.
Darren was silent for a while, then finally shook his head helplessly and said, "I don't know either. Perhaps I haven't been resting enough lately; I always overthink what others say... maybe I really am overthinking it."

【Ding...】 "Are you still not sleeping well?"
Hermione asked with concern. Darren nodded.
This was also what Snape had taught him.
Because Darren was always catching up on homework in the middle of the night, his dark circles had returned, which made Snape think he was starting to get anxious again.
After his attempts to help Darren failed, he told Darren to use this as a real reason when facing Hermione.
It saved them from having to lie.
After all, they couldn't let Harry and the others know directly that there was a problem with Snape; they had to discover it themselves amidst the conflict.
Only then would Harry and the others be deeply convinced, and Voldemort would be deeply convinced as well.
Harry and the others were indeed extremely worried.
On one hand, they thought Snape was problematic, but on the other, they thought that perhaps Darren's suspicion of Snape was due to his own physical condition.
In any case, they had walked right into Darren and Snape's plan. No, it was Snape's plan.
A little Saint-Father like Darren wouldn't admit to coming up with such ideas; these were all things Snape had thought through independently.
He had only raised a doubt or two on the side. It didn't have much to do with him.
During lunch, Darren was taken to the hospital wing by Hermione and the others. They wanted Madam Pomfrey to prescribe some sleep-inducing potions for Darren. But Madam Pomfrey rejected the proposal.
She believed that he should either be hospitalized or stop drinking those things altogether; she was worried that without her around, Darren would become addicted to those sleep aids.
It was better not to give them to him at all.
Madam Pomfrey's words left Hermione and the others extremely disappointed.
Of course, they also suggested that Darren stay in the hospital for a while, which Darren directly refused.
Why would he stay in the hospital when he was perfectly fine? However.
That wasn't how things could be said.
Darren put on a melancholy expression and said in a low voice, "I can't, I can't be hospitalized. If I were, the Daily Prophet would definitely use this to tell everyone that both my brother and I have gone mad."
"I can't cause any more trouble for my brother and Headmaster Dumbledore."
