Chapter 1154: Eavesdropping!!

~6 min read 1,039 words

After coaxing Hermione and the others.

Darren followed them to Divination class. The Divination classroom was as misty and cloud-filled as ever.

Darren still had no doubt that if he were allowed to lie down right then, he would still be able to fall asleep.

He sat next to Cassandra, just about to discuss his dreams with her, when he saw Umbridge walk in from outside.

She walked up to Trelawney and said with a fake smile, "I recall sending you an inspection notice; you shouldn't have forgotten, should you?"

Trelawney nodded with a stiff face.

She was unhappy, but still pretended to be calm and went through her usual routine for the class.

Umbridge didn't feel uncomfortable at all because of her anger.

She calmly took a chair from Trelawney's classroom, sat down, and began writing something on it.

When Trelawney told all the students to start bragging... no, that's not right, to start interpreting dreams, Umbridge let out a snort of laughter.

Darren also really wanted to laugh.

Not to mention, he felt that Trelawney's course, like Hagrid's, was suitable for slacking off.

Especially Trelawney; in the first lesson, she predicted he would have many girlfriends, a point that Darren, being petty, had held a grudge about for a long time.

After all, telling others so early had created quite a few difficulties for him in finding girls.

Darren believed that Trelawney was partly to blame for why he was so restrained now.

That's right, that's exactly it.

So when Trelawney was mocked by Umbridge, although he showed a worried expression on his face, in reality, he was truly on the verge of laughing out loud.

Fortunately, Cassandra had already opened his parchment and started looking at the dreams he had made up over the past few days.

"I hear you've been here for many years?"

Umbridge suddenly asked Trelawney. Darren pricked up his ears.

"Yes, I have been here for sixteen years!"

"Is that so? And Dumbledore was the one who hired you?"

"Yes... what are you trying to say?"

Trelawney asked unhappily.

"I hear you are the great-granddaughter of the seer Madam Trelawney?"

"Of course!"

Trelawney proudly raised her head.

"Then can you make a prophecy for me?"

Umbridge stared at Trelawney.

"Is it always like this?"

Darren was eavesdropping on Umbridge's conversation, relying on his super-strong hearing. Suddenly, he heard Cassandra ask this.

He nodded perfunctorily. Then he continued to eavesdrop.

Trelawney was clearly angered by Umbridge's demand for her to make a prophecy on the spot.

She said haughtily, "The Inner Eye does not take orders to see!"

"Very well!"

Umbridge jotted down a few notes in her notebook. Darren suspected she was writing the word 'fraud'.

Because Trelawney immediately lost her haughtiness and said, "Wait, wait... I feel like I really see something on you."

She tried her best to appear mysterious, but because her voice was trembling, she looked somewhat comical as she said:

"Darkness... a terrifying shadow... danger... a moment of silence."

Umbridge finally let out a scoff.

"It seems that's all there is to it."

She continued to write a few more lines in her notebook. This made Trelawney even more furious.

Darren chuckled to himself.

Then he noticed Trelawney's eyes looking over.

He quickly turned his head, but because he was too hurried, he choked on his own saliva. He coughed several times before lifting his head.

He prepared to talk to Cassandra about their dreams regardless, but when he turned around, he realized Cassandra was sobbing with her head down.

When she noticed Darren looking at her, she quickly wiped the tear stains from her face with a tissue.

Darren was full of confusion.

However, he still waved his wand.

The tear stains on Cassandra's face disappeared.

"Thank you..."

Cassandra said softly.

She was silent for a while, then suddenly asked, "Having nightmares like this every day, no wonder your dark circles are so heavy. I think you should go to the hospital wing..."

"I don't want to cause any more trouble for everyone."

Uh.

Darren was stunned. Cassandra was only this little bit moved?

But it seemed normal, because Cassandra appeared very angry right now.

She almost grabbed Darren's hand and said in a low voice, "Are you trying to kill yourself?"

"Just because you're afraid of being called mentally ill like Harry Potter, and that it would affect Dumbledore's reputation, you're going to neglect your own life?"

"It's not that serious. I just don't sleep well and have nightmares at night; it's not like I can't sleep at all."

【Ding, Saint-Father points +20】 Darren said nonchalantly. Cassandra pursed her lips.

She suddenly took a bottle with a spray nozzle out of her pocket.

"Spray it on yourself every night before you go to sleep, and you won't have nightmares."

Darren saw that her movements were very practiced, as if she had rehearsed this act of giving medicine countless times.

He asked curiously.

"What kind of potion is this?"

"Poison!"

Cassandra said indignantly. Darren laughed.

He said gratefully, "I'll try it tonight, thank you!"

【Ding, Saint-Father points +70】

"Hmph, who cares about you!"

Cassandra said tsundere-like.

Then she continued to look at the dreams Darren had fabricated. She picked out one that wasn't too terrifying.

"Just this one... you dreamed that you were suddenly grabbed while walking up the stairs... this means... you will be..."

Cassandra was flipping through the book to compare it with the content on Darren's parchment. But the parchment was taken away by Trelawney.

Trelawney looked at the dream on it and said loudly, "Being grabbed signifies that the person closest to you will be punished!"

Darren looked at Harry.

His eyes showed worry.

But Harry laughed it off as if it were nothing. This annoyed Trelawney.

She put down Darren's parchment.

She picked up Harry's parchment and began to analyze his dreams.

Besides analyzing the dream Harry had made up on the spot today, she also analyzed all the dreams in Harry's homework.

She predicted Harry's death twenty-two times. This gave Umbridge plenty to laugh about.

Of course, she also happily made several marks in her notebook.

Clearly, Trelawney had definitely become a fraud in her eyes...
