Chapter 346: Confusion
Wizard Sean Green walked through here and arrived at the Hope Cottage.
Mr. Owl was unusually silent today, but quickly opened the door for him.
Inside the Hope Cottage, the fireplace burned merrily, and the wooden bookshelf periodically rearranged itself, sorting Wizard Sean’s books.
Wizard Sean tapped it, and soon the wooden panels shifted and reformed, spitting out a Pensieve.
Silver threads swirled within it; Wizard Sean leaned over the Pensieve.
In an instant, his feet left the ground…
He fell again into darkness, landing among countless memories.
“Ravenclaw’s…”
When he returned from the memory to the Hope Cottage, he was momentarily bewildered.
He couldn’t recall what Ravenclaw had left behind.
Hufflepuff’s golden cup, Gryffindor’s sword, Slytherin’s locket… but what had Ravenclaw left?
He tugged on a silver thread, and the Sorting Hat appeared beside his ear:
“Of course, of course—the Crown of Ravenclaw, the Cup brimming with sincerity, the Sword called by courage—”
Ravenclaw left the Crown… but why could he not remember?
When he recovered the word, related memories surged up with it.
Yet they still felt veiled by a hazy veil.
He frowned, looked up—and realized Mr. Owl’s portrait had somehow moved indoors and was staring at him expectantly.
After being noticed, Mr. Owl’s portrait quickly slipped back outside the room.
“Mr. Owl?”
Wizard Sean called out.
“Clever little wizard—”
Mr. Owl mumbled, turned his back, and remained motionless.
Wizard Sean stared at Mr. Owl for a moment… Mr. Owl was acting strangely today.
But Mr. Owl clearly had no intention of speaking, so Wizard Sean could only continue recalling Ravenclaw’s Crown—had he simply forgotten?
There was a way to find out—Legilimency.
Whether he had been magically influenced or simply forgotten, Legilimency could help him recover more details.
…
Upperclassmen had left Hogwarts in groups; along the corridors, younger wizards pressed their faces against the windows, gazing enviously.
Wizard Sean held his plan map—the location of the Staff Room glowed with a red exclamation mark.
Below it, a line of runes read:
【Professor Flitwick, Undetectable Extension Charm】
This weekend, Wizard Sean could learn the Undetectable Extension Charm from Professor Flitwick to support his creation of Undetectable Extension storage items.
The Undetectable Extension Charm could naturally be learned from Professor Flitwick—but what about Legilimency?
Wizard Sean knew that wizards who mastered Legilimency were called Legilimens.
Known Legilimens included: Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, Voldemort, Horace Slughorn, Severus Snape, Barty Crouch Jr.…
So, could he learn from Professor Snape?
When he asked Professor Snape to teach him Legilimency, how would he explain his reason?
As he pondered, he arrived at the place he had arranged to meet Professor Flitwick—the Staff Room.
It was a long room reserved exclusively for staff rest.
Two talking stone beasts stood at its entrance; wooden panels lined the walls, filled with mismatched old blackwood chairs.
The elderly Professor Binns was also resting here, waiting to rise next week for his class.
Hmm… he had been like this for centuries.
“Professor Flitwick.”
Wizard Sean knocked.
“Come in, child.”
The voice was not Professor Flitwick’s—it was one Wizard Sean recognized.
“Professor McGonagall.”
Wizard Sean quickened his step.
“Learning the Undetectable Extension Charm requires great patience.”
Professor McGonagall held a cup of black tea; steam curled before her square spectacles.
“Yes, indeed. Come in, little Green.”
Professor Flitwick warmly pulled Wizard Sean inside.
“I’m not surprised you want to learn this charm—but tell me, child, what is the Undetectable Extension Charm?”
“The Undetectable Extension Charm expands the internal volume of an object without altering its external appearance and reduces its weight.
Casting it often requires a sealed container and magical materials to sustain the effect.
Its principle lies in restructuring spatial dimensions to achieve geometric volume expansion.”
Wizard Sean paused two seconds before answering.
“Excellent!”
Professor Flitwick nodded approvingly.
“You should also know that casting this charm privately is a serious offense; violators risk imprisonment in Azkaban.”
Professor Flitwick added.
Wizard Sean understood perfectly—the Undetectable Extension Charm preserved the original size and appearance of the target, erasing spatial anomalies to evade magical detection.
This meant that without strict control, mass illegal concealment would become commonplace.
That would be detrimental to the stability of the magical world.
“But Ministry approval comes quickly.”
Professor Flitwick smiled and handed Wizard Sean an approval form.
This surprised Wizard Sean greatly—he had only just expressed his desire to learn…
Professor Flitwick possessed deep expertise in charms; under his guidance, even with only Blue Talent, Wizard Sean learned quickly.
Soon, he grasped the technique.
“Undetectable Extension!”
As he swished his wand, the inside of the cardboard box seemed to undergo violent change—if a finger were inserted, one would find that a box shorter than a finger could fully engulf it.
【You practiced the Undetectable Extension Charm at an apprentice level. Proficiency +1】
【Undetectable Extension Charm: Locked (1/30)】
Wizard Sean held the box, a faint smile touching his eyes.
With the interface active, the only real challenge left for Wizard Sean was time.
Though Wizard Sean had successfully cast the Undetectable Extension Charm, the box quickly reverted to its original state—due to the lack of materials.
The most essential material for crafting Undetectable Extension items was the skin of a basilisk.
In the Staff Room.
The plan map emerged on its own; the sky-blue quill scribbled a new plan.
Seeing the various locations and folded plans, Professor Flitwick was momentarily stunned.
Then he burst into laughter:
“Is this your half-term plan, little Green?”
“No… it’s for one week, Professor Flitwick.”
Wizard Sean absentmindedly tucked away the plan map.
Even after Wizard Sean left the Staff Room, Professor Flitwick remained dazed.
“Minerva, oh—you gave him that thing?”
Professor Flitwick turned and asked.
“That’s the problem, Filius—I haven’t had the chance yet.”
Professor McGonagall’s eyes held a warm glow.
She knew some people walked slowly along the path of perseverance.
