Chapter 25: Defense Against the Dark Arts Class

~7 min read 1,327 words

"Hello, are you classmate John Merrick?"

Just as John was flipping through the book, someone suddenly came to find John.

Looking back, it was their senior from the Eagle House, but John didn't know him.

"Yes, Senior, is there something?" John asked strangely.

"My name is Roger Davies, I am the Quidditch captain of Ravenclaw; Professor Hooch found me this afternoon and said that a very good seedling had come to our house, so I wanted to get to know you."

Roger extended his right hand and introduced himself enthusiastically.

"So that's how it is, hello."

Seeing Roger extend his hand, John also stood up and shook Roger's hand to greet him.

"I heard from Professor Hooch that you don't want to join Quidditch for the time being, right?"

"Yes, Senior, I'm very sorry, I..."

John nodded and had just wanted to say a reason for refusal when he was interrupted by Roger.

"It doesn't matter, joining or not is everyone's freedom; I just wanted to tell you that whenever you are interested in Quidditch, you are welcome to come and observe our practice at any time, and if you want to join, you can also tell me."

Roger smiled and didn't care why John didn't want to join Quidditch.

Their Ravenclaw is like this, having their own ideas and goals; who says that if you have good talent in this matter, you must develop in this matter?

Even if this is a very prestigious thing in school.

Being recruited into the Quidditch team in the first year, only Harry Potter did it initially.

If John were willing, he could be the second one.

The two of them chatted briefly, and Roger said goodbye to John.

Seeing Roger leave, Titus, Ryan, and Ethan finally couldn't hold back, directly crossing the table and crawling onto John.

"John! Why did you refuse!"

"That's right, joining the Quidditch team is the dream of how many people; if you develop well, you can even join a professional team in the future!"

The three of them shouted in John's ears one after another.

"Do you know how many girls will cheer for you!"

"Do you know how many boys will be jealous because of you!"

"Do you even know!"

"John ah ah ah ah!"

John covered his face; these three were hanging on him like monkeys, shouting and screaming, and Titus was pressing him so he couldn't straighten his waist.

This noisy scene made everyone in the Great Hall look at them like they were fools.

"*Vira Vito*."

In the Ravenclaw dormitory, John waved his wand, practicing Transfiguration on the pebbles in front of him.

Only to see that following John's spell, the pebble, which was only the size of a bottle cap, suddenly turned into a silver fruit knife.

John picked up the fruit knife; the weight was a bit light, the same as the pebble before.

However, the sharpness was not bad; it was not in vain that I concentrated all my attention on the imagination of sharpness.

With a casual wave, John cut the starry curtain on his bed.

The durability was yet to be improved.

This had nothing to do with the medium of transformation, purely because of insufficient strength.

Powerful Transfiguration can even turn a stone into a large table, and the quality is not bad at all, which completely does not conform to the law of conservation of energy.

But in reality, this table is built by powerful magic power.

So theoretically, as long as Transfiguration is powerful enough, one can even hand-craft a temporary divine weapon, or some kind of magical prop.

This made John quite fascinated.

However, these still need diligent practice.

While thinking, John waved his wand and shouted "*Reparo*."

The starry curtain that had been cut was automatically repaired, without any flaws.

Then he used the restoration spell to turn the silver fruit knife in his hand back into the form of a pebble.

Professor McGonagall only mentioned the restoration spell, but hadn't taught it yet, but John learned it through Professor McGonagall's diary; the principle was actually quite simple, which was to lift the transformation effect of the Transfiguration.

John put the pebble back into the box; this box was full of pebbles, all of which he had picked up in the garden today, left for practice.

He now liked Transfiguration very much.

Because the feeling of being able to conjure weapons at will, just like the characters in an animation, is incredibly cool!

The next day.

After John finished breakfast with his partners, they came to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom together.

However, at this time, the tables and chairs in the classroom had all been moved to the sides of the classroom.

In the center of the empty classroom, there was a large wardrobe with a mirror, placed in front of everyone.

And Professor Lupin, whom he had met on the train, stood beside the large wardrobe, looking at this group of little wizards with a smile.

Professor Lupin looked much better today; when he first saw him on the train, his complexion was haggard as if he were about to die.

Now he was much more ruddy; it seemed the food at Hogwarts was not bad.

Today's course was still for Slytherin and Ravenclaw to take together.

"Good morning, students; today is your first Defense Against the Dark Arts class; is anyone willing to guess what is in the wardrobe?"

Professor Lupin stood beside the wardrobe, pointing at the constantly shaking wardrobe, as if a beast were trapped inside, struggling constantly.

Ryan raised his hand and said: "Is it a Boggart?"

"That's right, Mr. Gray."

"Then do you know what a Boggart looks like?" Professor Lupin continued to ask.

This time, no one knew, and everyone shook their heads.

"Then let me tell you..."

"If you don't know how to deal with a Boggart, then it is the most, most, most dangerous creature."

"It will make you so afraid that you cannot resist, cannot look directly at it; it will be the nightmare you fear most in the depths of your soul..."

Listening to Professor Lupin's introduction, the little wizards swallowed their saliva one after another.

Just then, the wardrobe containing the Boggart suddenly made a loud *bang*, scaring everyone into thinking the Boggart was about to rush out, and they retreated one after another.

Seeing that the little wizards were scared enough, Professor Lupin then stopped and smiled at everyone.

"Alright, back to the subject."

"A Boggart is a dark magical creature, not recorded in the magical creature directory, and has no danger rating."

"Because it is actually not an animal at all, but a product of human emotion."

"It will turn into something you fear most in your heart when facing humans, varying from person to person."

Everyone listened to Professor Lupin's introduction, and only then did they stop their fantasies about the unknown fear.

"There happens to be a simple spell that can deal with a Boggart, which even little wizards who have just entered the wizarding world can master."

"Everyone recite with me, *Riddikulus*."

Everyone followed Professor Lupin's pronunciation and recited it a few times.

"Very good, but this is just the first step; the key lies in when facing a Boggart, you have to imagine it as something funny."

"Because a Boggart is the embodiment of our emotions and is also influenced by our emotions."

"Only when you are not afraid of it at all can you defeat it."

Professor Lupin stood in front of the wardrobe, slowly turned around, faced the wardrobe, and took out his wand.

"Next, watch my demonstration."

Following the voice, Professor Lupin waved his wand, and the tightly locked wardrobe door made a *click* and slowly opened.

The little wizards subconsciously retreated a few steps, but couldn't help but curiously poke their heads to see what exactly came out of the wardrobe. ===== CHAPTER 26 =====
