Chapter 401: John vs. Voldemort
Voldemort lowered his head, looking at the gruesome wound on his chest, as scarlet blood gushed out, staining his robe black.
He staggered back two steps,
Within the next second, John's next Magic Spell had already reached his face.
Voldemort instantly raised his wand to block.
The spell was directly deflected by the wand in his hand.
John frowned, but did not stop; he kept swinging his wand, and several silent spells poured out like a downpour.
Voldemort clumsily dodged, blood from his chest continuously seeping out,
The events unfolded so quickly that everyone present had no time to react.
"Attack!"
It was unclear which Death Eater shouted, and the scene instantly fell into chaos.
Countless Magic Spells shot in from all directions.
John's eyes hardened.
He thrust his wand upward forcefully and spun.
In an instant, surging Golden Flame erupted from the tip of his wand, forming a circular fire wall that devoured all incoming spells.
Amid the roiling Golden Flame, several Death Eaters who failed to retreat were also engulfed, their screams drowned by the roar of the fire.
Voldemort saw the familiar Golden Flame, his pupils instantly contracting, and for the first time his face showed an expression of disbelief.
"Me! ri! ck!"
He spat the name through clenched teeth, his voice laced with deep hatred and a trace of unmistakable dread.
John's figure slowly emerged from the Golden Flame.
He had already shifted from Yoru's form back to his original appearance.
Specks of golden light drifted beneath his hem, as if he were cloaked in a layer of lingering blaze.
"Long time no see, Tom."
John looked at Voldemort, his tone calm as if greeting an old friend reunited after years.
Voldemort stared at John with eyes bulging, his scarlet snake pupils roiling with raging fury and murderous intent.
The mercury in his left arm had already flowed to the chest wound, visibly repairing the damaged vessels and muscles.
However, each time the repair reached halfway, the residual power of Divine Edge Unseen would tear the wound anew, causing the healing process to enter a repeated tug‑of‑war.
It could only barely staunch the bleeding, but not achieve full healing.
"You… why are you still alive!"
"Thanks to you, I've died once."
John's tone was as flat as if commenting that the weather was nice today.
As he spoke, John casually flicked his wand.
Harry's body was instantly sent by him to the Hagrid's Hut behind, and Ginny caught Harry at once.
"Take good care of him."
John said the line without turning his head, his gaze fixed on Voldemort.
Bang bang bang!!
At this moment, dozens of explosions rang from the outer edge of the fire wall.
Along with them came the Death Eaters' screams and shouts.
It was the Hogwarts professors and Aurors who began the counter‑attack.
John's Golden Flame was their signal to counter‑attack.
However, the number of Death Eaters was no joke.
Even after being ambushed, they quickly steadied themselves and began to organize a counter‑offensive.
In an instant the battlefield descended into chaotic melee interwoven with firelight.
Hearing the commotion outside, Voldemort finally composed himself and sneered.
"Ha, even if you didn't die, I could still kill you again."
"Hogwarts will also be trampled flat by my Death Eaters."
Voldemort raised his wand high, and a Dark Mark shot into the sky.
All the Death Eaters, as if receiving a signal, began to launch a more organized fierce assault.
The Hogwarts defensive magic array, under the rain‑like spells, wavered on the brink of collapse.
John watched the scene, his expression unchanged.
The Castle's defenses were not so easily shattered; long before, Dumbledore and the professors had prepared contingency plans for a large‑scale invasion.
So now, his sole mission was to leave Voldemort completely here.
"Then let's give it a try."
Before the words finished, the wand in John's hand had already traced a curve.
The surrounding fire wall surged instantly, turning into spiraling Fire Dragons that lit the battlefield like daylight.
Voldemort watched this, a hint of solemnity flashing in his eyes.
He could clearly feel that John's power had become vastly different from before.
But wielding the Elder Wand, how could he be afraid?
"Avada Kedavra!"
Voldemort ignored the Fire Dragons surrounding him, the Killing Curse directly targeting John's face.
John showed no fear, swinging his wand, and a scarlet Magic Spell collided directly with the green light.
Boom!!
At the moment the two spells collided, the entire battlefield seemed to freeze for a second.
The shockwave spread outward from the two of them as the center.
The ground cracked, and shards of stone splashed.
In the next instant, the Fire Dragon swallowed Voldemort whole.
But Voldemort was not affected at all.
He erected an invisible barrier around himself, keeping the flames out.
John squinted, understanding in his heart.
The Elder Wand's empowerment was indeed extraordinary.
But John was not at all weak; he poured all his magic into it, and the red‑green colliding light pillar suddenly swelled, the red Magic Spell began to reverse‑press the green light.
Voldemort's complexion changed slightly; he hadn't expected that after his resurrection, John's magic would be so domineering, that even the Elder Wand's empowerment could not fully suppress it.
He clenched his teeth, and the green light at the wand's tip surged again.
The clash of the two magical forces made the battlefield's ground begin to quake violently.
The shockwave spread outward in concentric circles.
Even if one tried to intervene with a sneak attack, there was no gap to be found at all.
Finally, when the magical clash reached its critical point, a deafening explosion rang out.
Both were knocked back several meters by the massive impact, and two deep ruts were carved beneath their feet.
Voldemort barely steadied himself, while John crashed straight into Hagrid's Hut, shattering the wooden walls and the tables and chairs.
"John!"
Hermione shouted anxiously, rushing toward John.
But John quickly rose from the rubble.
"I'm fine; I'll cover you as you retreat back to the Castle."
John spoke quickly; with them nearby, he couldn't possibly let loose and fight with all his might.
"... Okay." Hermione paused briefly, then nodded firmly.
She could see John's performance just now; now he wouldn't be easily defeated by Voldemort again.
"Go!"
John waved his wand, and a silvery‑white barrier instantly enveloped Hermione and the others.
Then soaring high, he sent the barrier together with the few people toward the Castle.
Voldemort let out a cold snort, pointing his wand at the sky, intending to strike them down directly.
But John wouldn't let him have his way.
Another scarlet Magic Spell shot from John's wand tip, precisely cutting off Voldemort's casting trajectory.
The two spells exploded in midair, accelerating the barrier's flight speed.
Seeing them successfully enter the Castle's protective shield range, John finally withdrew his wand, his gaze locking onto Voldemort again.
"Alright, Tom."
"From now on, no one can disturb us."
A cold curve formed at Voldemort's mouth corner as he looked at John, his eyes full of contempt and murderous intent.
"I may not know exactly what you've been through, but it makes no difference to me."
John stood amid the ruins of Hagrid's Hut, while Voldemort stood on the burning lawn.
Between them lay charred earth and lingering smoke, as if the whole world had been reduced to just the two of them.
"Then let's try it."
The two almost simultaneously waved their wands.
Boom!!
The others who had retreated back to Hogwarts could only see the direction of Hagrid's Hut, where once again the sky erupted with fire and stone fragments, as if the end of the world had arrived.
