Chapter 79: Finalized Project

~6 min read 1,138 words

At three in the morning, the lights on the top floor office of the Wing Shing Building were still on.

Xiang Fei sat at his desk, his pen sliding rapidly across the paper, the ink bleeding into neat rows of characters.

"Titanic"

He stopped writing, gently rubbed his temples, and let his gaze fall on the first page of the script—

"April 10, 1912, Southampton Port, the Titanic is about to set sail..."

Outside the window, the neon lights of Xiangjiang continued to flicker, while his thoughts had already drifted to that legendary giant ship from a century ago.

At six in the morning, Xiang Fei finally put down his pen and bound the thick stack of script pages into a volume.

He stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, gazed at the rising sun, and the corners of his mouth lifted slightly.

"This time, Wing Shing will shock the entire world."

At ten in the morning, Xiang Fei picked up the phone and dialed the dedicated lines for Xiang Xiang Huaqiang, Xiang Sheng, and Lady Xiang.

"Uncle, Uncle Sheng, Auntie, come to my office immediately; there is an important matter."

Half an hour later, the three gathered in Xiang Fei's office.

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang frowned: "What matter is so urgent?"

Xiang Sheng yawned: "Ah Fei, I was at a social engagement until two last night; you better have good news."

Lady Xiang, however, keenly noticed the thick booklet on Xiang Fei's desk: "A new script?"

Xiang Fei nodded and pushed the script toward the three of them: "'Titanic,' just finished writing it."

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang raised an eyebrow: "So fast? Did you write it overnight?"

"Mm." Xiang Fei's tone was calm, "Take a look first."

Silence fell over the office, broken only by the rustling sound of turning pages.

Xiang Sheng's originally indifferent expression gradually froze, his eyes becoming increasingly focused.

Lady Xiang, halfway through reading, suddenly covered her mouth, her eyes turning slightly red.

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang read slower and slower, his fingers gripping the edges of the pages tightly until his knuckles turned white.

Thirty minutes later, Xiang Sheng was the first to look up, his voice trembling slightly: "Ah Fei, this script... are you sure you wrote it?"

Xiang Fei smiled: "Genuine, without a doubt."

Lady Xiang took a deep breath, her voice soft: "The love between Rose and Jack... it is too moving."

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang closed the script, his gaze burning as he stared at Xiang Fei: "Do you know how much money this will cost? We are launching three films simultaneously, and now you start another project."

Xiang Fei was prepared; he took out a budget sheet: "Preliminary estimates place the production cost at at least 200 million Hong Kong dollars."

"200 million?!" Xiang Sheng jumped to his feet, "Have you gone mad? Wing Shing is filming three movies at once; where would we get that much money?"

Xiang Fei said calmly: "We can seek financing, or even mortgage some assets."

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang's brows were tightly locked: "Ah Fei, this is no small sum; what if the box office fails..."

"It will not fail." Xiang Fei spoke with decisive certainty, "This will be Wing Shing's trump card for breaking into the international market."

He stood up, walked to the window, and turned his back to the three: "What I want is not just the Xiangjiang market, but the global box office."

Lady Xiang gently stroked the script and whispered: "The life-and-death parting during the sinking... I cried as I read it."

She looked up at Xiang Fei: "Ah Fei, since when have you become so knowledgeable about love stories?"

Xiang Fei smiled faintly: "The core of a story is always human nature; love is merely the vessel."

Xiang Sheng rubbed his face and sat back down: "You kid... you always manage to come up with something terrifying."

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang remained silent for a long while, then suddenly slammed the table: "Good! We will film this!"

Xiang Sheng widened his eyes: "Brother! That's 200 million!"

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang's gaze was firm: "If Wing Shing wants to become an international giant, we must dare to bet big."

He looked at Xiang Fei: "But there is one condition—we must hire a top-tier Hollywood special effects team to ensure the sinking scene shocks the world."

Xiang Sheng scratched his head: "Who will play the leads?"

Xiang Fei already had a plan: "For the male lead, Jack, I intend to cast Qian Qian Xiaohao; he is a new actor, but he has spirit."

"And the female lead, Rose?" Lady Xiang asked.

"Cai Cai Shaofen."

Xiang Fei added: "Supporting roles can use Xiangjiang actors; for instance, Cheng Long could play the treasure-hunting partner of the elderly Rose."

Lady Xiang flipped through the script: "With filming on such a large scale, how will we solve the location issue?"

"The Rosarito studio in Mexico; they have a massive water tank suitable for filming the sinking scenes," Xiang Fei replied.

Xiang Sheng clicked his tongue in amazement: "You kid... you even investigated this thoroughly?"

Xiang Fei smiled: "If we are going to do it, we must do it best."

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang suddenly asked: "Ah Fei, tell me honestly, why do you suddenly want to film this kind of epic love story?"

The office fell silent.

Xiang Fei gazed out the window and said softly: "Because movies should not consist only of fighting and killing... they should also have romance that people remember."

He turned to face the three: "I want the whole world to remember that Wing Shing can not only make commercial films but also produce classics that endure for a hundred years."

Xiang Xiang Huaqiang took a deep breath, stood up, and declared: "Good! Wing Shing officially launches the 'Titanic' project!"

Xiang Sheng shook his head with a bitter smile: "Mad, everyone has gone mad... but I like it!"

Lady Xiang wiped the corners of her eyes: "I will go contact international distribution channels immediately."

Xiang Fei looked at the three elders and said solemnly: "Thank you for your trust."

That night, when Xiang Fei returned home, Zhou Zhou Huimin was in the kitchen making soup.

"You're back? The soup will be ready soon," she said, turning around with a smile.

Xiang Fei walked up behind her, gently wrapped his arms around her waist, rested his chin on her shoulder, and said: "Vivian, I did something big today."

"Oh? What is it?"

"I wrote a script called *Titanic*."

Zhou Zhou Huimin turned off the stove, spun around to face him, and asked, "A romance film?"

Xiang Fei nodded, pulled her over to the sofa, and briefly recounted the story.

By the time he described Jack sinking into the icy sea, Zhou Zhou Huimin was already weeping uncontrollably.

"So cruel... yet so beautiful," she choked out.
