Chapter 130: Global Travel Part 2

~4 min read 601 words

Traveling all the way to the blizzard on Fifth Avenue, Zhou Huimin shoved a hot cocoa into Xiang Fei's hands while he was queuing: "You really had to see the premiere of The Godfather Part III?"

"Coppola promised to save us seats," Xiang Fei rubbed her frozen red hands, "By the way, don't scream when you meet Al Pacino later."

But she was the first to break her composure—when Marlon Brando appeared leaning on a cane, the popcorn in Zhou Huimin's hands scattered across the floor. The old godfather kindly helped her pick it up and, with gentlemanly grace, kissed the back of her hand.

At the post-screening reception, Coppola pulled Xiang Fei into a corner: "Have you considered developing your career in Hollywood?"

Zhou Huimin watched her husband's flickering gaze, knowing their world tour was about to reach a turning point.

Camel bells echoed deep in the desert. Zhou Huimin, wrapped in a Berber headscarf, watched her husband arguing heatedly with a local guide.

"He says there's an oasis ahead," Xiang Fei ran back excitedly, "Legend has it that's the filming location for The English Patient!"

Zhou Huimin shook her head helplessly: "Can't you go a single day without thinking about movies?"

But when night fell and they lay on the dunes gazing at the Milky Way, Xiang Fei suddenly said: "I want to make a movie about travel."

Zhou Huimin turned to the side, starlight falling into her eyes: "Then we'll have to keep traveling."

The Trevi Fountain was crowded with tourists tossing coins to make wishes. Just as Zhou Huimin was about to throw a coin, a commotion in the crowd caught her attention.

"It's Fellini!" someone exclaimed.

The Italian film master was walking toward them: "Aven? I heard about you in Venice."

For the next three days, they were guests of honor to Fellini. In a café at the filming location of La Dolce Vita, the old director patted Xiang Fei's shoulder: "Cinema is like love; it requires mad passion."

Zhou Huimin watched her husband's shining eyes, knowing his heart had already flown back to the camera.

In the arrival hall of Jingcheng Capital Airport, Bai Long and Hei Hu held a "Welcome Home" banner, half-asleep.

Zhou Huimin poked her husband: "Do you think they know we're back early?"

Xiang Fei smiled, took out his camera, and secretly snapped a photo of his brothers dozing off. Suddenly, a familiar figure barged into the lens—Han Shanping, standing with colleagues from the Beijing Film Studio not far away, waving at Xiang Fei and Zhou Huimin, calling them over.

"Uncle Han...?"

"Ah Fei!" Han Shanping laughed loudly, patting Xiang Fei's shoulder, "Had enough fun?"

Xiang Fei nodded with a smile, and Zhou Huimin said nothing.

Han Shanping immediately pressed on: "Are there any new projects coming up?" His gaze fixed tightly on Xiang Fei, seeming full of expectation for this question.

Xiang Fei thought for a moment, then answered excitedly: "Yes! I'll write it as soon as I get back; the inspiration is overflowing right now!" His voice revealed an uncontrollable passion and confidence.

Hearing Xiang Fei's so positive response, a satisfied smile appeared on Han Shanping's face.

He gently patted Xiang Fei's shoulder and encouraged him: "Good, go back and write down all your ideas; I believe it will definitely be brilliant."

The sunset stretched the shadows of the two very long, perfectly overlapping with the shadows from when they left Hong Kong six years ago. Only this time, the suitcases were filled with Venetian masks, Cairo papyrus paintings, Kyoto lacquerware... and a first draft of an untitled screenplay.
