Chapter 131: The Detective Chinatown Series Unleashes a Storm
At two in the morning, the study in the Feimin Apartment was still lit. Xiang Fei stared at the script for "Detective Chinatown," his fingers tapping lightly on the desk. Zhou Huimin pushed the door open, holding two cups of hot tea.
"Not asleep yet?" She placed the teacups on the table.
Xiang Fei rubbed his temples: "I need to call Wang Jing."
"Now? It's so late."
"The later I call, the more awake he is." Xiang Fei smiled bitterly, picked up his phone, and dialed that familiar number.
The phone rang for a long time before being answered, followed by Wang Jing's sleepy voice: "Hello... who is this..."
"Ah Jing, it's me."
The voice on the other end instantly woke up: "Brother Fei? What's wrong?"
"About 'Detective Chinatown'..."
"Is there a problem with the script? I'll have them change it tomorrow!"
Xiang Fei took a deep breath: "I want to direct it myself."
Silence fell on the other end of the line for three seconds.
"What?!" Wang Jing's voice suddenly rose, "Brother Fei, are you joking? We've already finished all the preliminary work! The venues are booked!"
"I know this is sudden..."
"Sudden? This is murder!" Wang Jing's voice carried a cry, "I've already taken the investors' money!"
Xiang Fei could imagine Wang Jing's frantic state on the other end: "Ah Jing, listen to me..."
"I won't listen! Unless you crawl out of the phone right now and give me an explanation!"
Xiang Fei sighed: "I've prepared the script for 'Infernal Affairs 2' for you."
The other end of the line suddenly went quiet.
"... Really?"
"The outline is already written, Liu Jianming's backstory."
"The full script?"
"I'll give it to you in three days."
Wang Jing's voice instantly became ingratiating: "Oh, Brother Fei, between brothers, who's who!"
Xiang Fei couldn't help but laugh: "Cut the act. Remember to treat me to a meal."
"Absolutely! Michelin three-star minimum!" Wang Jing paused, "But Brother Fei, for 'Infernal Affairs 2', I want exclusive investment rights..."
"Get lost!" Xiang Fei laughed and cursed as he hung up the phone.
Zhou Huimin handed over a teacup: "Sorted?"
"You know this kid Wang Jing." Xiang Fei took a sip of tea, "Now the problem is the actors."
"Do you have a candidate for Tang Ren?"
"Brother Da"
Zhou Huimin nodded in agreement: "What about Qin Feng? Didn't you originally plan to..."
"Act it myself?" Xiang Fei shook his head, "It would break the immersion. The audience would always feel it's Xiang Fei solving the case, not Qin Feng."
"Should we go check out the Central Academy of Drama?"
Xiang Fei's eyes lit up: "Let's go tomorrow."
The next morning, sunlight spilled across the campus as Xiang Fei walked into the Central Academy of Drama with light steps. His arrival was like a gentle breeze in spring, quickly arousing the excitement and attention of all the actors at the academy.
Xiang Fei smiled, greeted everyone he met politely, and then walked straight to the outside of each acting class. He stood at the classroom door, quietly gazing at the scene inside.
The students in the classroom had originally been focused on their lesson, but when they noticed Xiang Fei's figure, the entire classroom erupted into a frenzy. Students began whispering to each other, murmuring in hushed tones, their eyes all fixed on Xiang Fei.
"Look, that's Xiang Fei!" Tao Hong said excitedly to the classmate beside her, "I heard that for his movies, they either win awards or have high box office returns! If I can be chosen by him, then I'll really become famous!" After speaking, Tao Hong immediately sat up straight, as if hoping to catch Xiang Fei's attention.
However, not everyone shared Tao Hong's expectations for Xiang Fei. Duan Long, sitting next to Tao Hong, also saw Xiang Fei, but his reaction was completely different. Duan Long understood in his heart that although he had certain acting talent, standing out among so many excellent classmates to be chosen by Xiang Fei was almost impossible. So, he merely glanced at Xiang Fei indifferently and continued to focus on his studies, paying no more attention to the matter.
