Chapter 219: Concert 1
On the night of the concert, the backstage area of the Hong Kong Coliseum was exceptionally lively.
Anita Mui, cigarette dangling from her lips and legs crossed, was playing mahjong with Zhou Huimin, Michael Hui, and Leslie Cheung.
"Pong!" Anita Mui slapped down two tiles, squinting as she smiled, "Where's Ah Fei? Why hasn't he gone on stage yet?"
"He's taking deep breaths in the dressing room," Leslie Cheung said leisurely as he drew a tile, "It's his first concert; he's nervous."
On the other side, Jackie Chan and Li Keqin huddled together cracking sunflower seeds, critiquing the stage design as they went.
"This lighting won't do," Jackie Chan pointed and gestured, "We should add some explosion effects!"
Li Keqin laughed helplessly: "Brother Long, this is a concert, not an action movie..."
Kelly Chen's makeup artist was busy touching up her makeup.
Xiang Fei pushed the door open, saw the scene, and sighed while holding his forehead: "Everyone, can you be serious? This is a concert!"
Anita Mui didn't even look up: "Relax, isn't every concert of ours like this?"
Michael Hui added the final blow: "Except for Jackie Chan."
Jackie Chan: "???"
The whole room burst into laughter.
At exactly 8 PM, all the lights in the arena went out.
A single spotlight shone down as Xiang Fei, dressed in a simple white shirt and jeans, walked slowly onto the stage.
"Hello, fans and friends!"
Instantly, deafening screams and whistles erupted from the audience below.
Xiang Fei smiled, waiting for the roar to subside slightly before continuing: "Many people think I've stopped singing and am focusing solely on acting." He shrugged, "But they've forgotten that I debuted as a singer."
A wave of knowing laughter rippled through the audience.
"I know that among those present today are my film fans, my music fans, friends from Xiangjiang, and those who traveled specially from the mainland, Japan, South Korea, and even other countries."
He paused, then suddenly announced: "So I have decided right now—for all friends here to watch the concert, I, Xiang Fei, will reimburse your train tickets, ferry tickets, and plane tickets!"
"After the concert ends, take your tickets and transport receipts to Yongsheng or the Feimin Entertainment office in Jingcheng for reimbursement!"
The crowd below instantly boiled over; applause and screams nearly lifted the roof.
"Alright, friends," Xiang Fei made a gesture for silence, "The first song, 'Let Me Be Happy, Let Me Be Sad', is dedicated to all of you."
The music began; he gently touched the microphone stand and sang with deep emotion:
**"Love reaches its end, spilled water is hard to gather; love lingers, resentment lingers..."**
His clear voice echoed through the stadium; the audience below spontaneously turned on their phone lights, transforming the entire venue into a sea of stars.
After finishing the song, Xiang Fei wiped the sweat from his forehead and smiled: "I haven't sung in so many years, please bear with me!"
The audience roared with laughter; someone shouted, "It sounds good!"
"Friends," Xiang Fei glanced over the crowd with a mischievous grin, "You must all have had someone you had a secret crush on, right?"
Immediate, enthusiastic agreement rose from the audience below.
"That's right; back when I participated in the singing competition, I also had a secret crush on a girl." He sighed with feigned profundity, "It's just... alas, the past is too painful to recall!"
The audience immediately grew restless; someone shouted, "Was it Zhou Huimin?"
Xiang Fei widened his eyes: "Wow, why are you so gossipy?" Then he grinned cunningly, "But you guessed wrong!"
He turned and pointed to the side of the stage: "Let's welcome—Ms. Kelly Chen!"
As the musical intro began, Xiang Fei suddenly turned to the audience and winked: "I was just joking just now; all you reporter friends, please do not report this!"
The entire room laughed again.
Kelly Chen stepped onto the stage in crystal high heels, playfully slapping Xiang Fei's shoulder: "You start by making fun of me?"
