Chapter 12: The Red and White Dual Malice

~8 min read 1,568 words

To deal with the Evil Infant, especially since the Evil Infant is right by Mi Qilian's side, one must be cautious and careful; furthermore, Zhang Cheng, Taoist Priest Qianhe, and Uncle Nine do not really understand these things. Zhang Cheng in particular is basically clueless; he relies entirely on Dharma treasures and magic power, and is a novice in all other respects.

Uncle Nine said with some difficulty, "I don't really know how to deal with an Evil Infant."

Taoist Priest Qianhe shook his head and said, "Senior Brother, you know that I don't know how either."

Zhang Cheng had no choice but to say, "Taoist Priest Lin, I have heard that there is a fellow Taoist named Partridge Whistle in East Head Village who understands these things."

Daoist Priest Qianhe nodded quickly and added, "That's right, Senior Brother, Junior Sister Partridge Whistle understands these matters best, and she also likes you. If you go and ask her for help, she will certainly come."

Uncle Nine said with hesitation, "It is precisely because she likes me that I find it difficult; this matter... sigh, in short, it is somewhat troublesome."

Zhang Cheng immediately brought up Mi Qilian, and once Uncle Nine thought of Mi Qilian's safety, he had to bite the bullet and say, "Fine, I will write a letter to Partridge Whistle right now."

Uncle Nine wrote the letter immediately and took out a pocket watch, saying, "Give the letter and the pocket watch to Partridge Whistle; she will definitely come."

Zhang Cheng took the letter and nodded, saying, "Very well, I will go deliver the letter, but I am not very familiar with the road to East Head Village."

Uncle Nine immediately looked at his two disciples and said to Qiusheng, "Qiusheng, you go."

"Yes, Master."

Zhang Cheng and Qiusheng immediately went downstairs, and Lou Dalong, also worried about Mi Qilian's safety, wanted to send men to escort Zhang Cheng and the others.

Uncle Nine immediately stopped him, saying, "Making such a big scene will likely be detected by the Ghost Servant."

However, what Uncle Nine did not expect was that as soon as Zhang Cheng and Qiusheng went downstairs, they ran into Mi Nianying. Seeing that the two were about to leave, she immediately stepped forward to ask, and Qiusheng, that big mouth, told her directly.

Upon learning that her sister was in danger, Mi Nianying naturally would not stand by idly, and she said anxiously, "I want to help with this matter too."

Zhang Cheng looked up and scanned his surroundings; not seeing the Ghost Servant, he immediately agreed to let Mi Nianying follow them. But the Ghost Servant was hiding in the shadows, her expression dark; she let out a cold snort and left the villa immediately.

"Hahaha!" Partridge Whistle laughed triumphantly, "Lin Jiuying, you finally have a time when you need me. Let's see how you escape from my grasp this time."

Throughout the journey, Partridge Whistle was beside herself with joy, feeling incredibly happy.

Qiusheng pedaled Mi Nianying's bicycle with her on the back, while Zhang Cheng pedaled Partridge Whistle's tricycle, with Partridge Whistle sitting on it along with the items for dealing with the Evil Infant.

Qiusheng said with a fawning smile, "Junior Martial Aunt, you are going to help Master's old flame, yet you are still this happy?"

Partridge Whistle put her hands on her hips and said, "What would a child like you know? Hehehe, you'll find out soon enough!"

As they spoke, white mist appeared on the forest path, along with a certain fragrance. The group stopped and looked at the eerie surroundings.

Zhang Cheng immediately left the tricycle, drew a peach wood sword from his sleeve, and warned, "Be careful, there are ghosts and monsters!"

Qiusheng immediately took out a talisman to protect Mi Nianying and said, "Nianying, don't worry, I will protect you."

Partridge Whistle also got off the vehicle and asked, "A-Sheng, what exactly is going on?"

Zhang Cheng said with a serious expression, "It should be a trap set by the Ghost Servant."

No sooner had he finished speaking than a strange sound of suona horns rang out. There were three types of music in total: funeral music for the dead, wedding music for a marriage, and a bizarre melody that made one tremble upon hearing it.

Immediately after, the dead saw two processions appear on both sides of the path—one for a white affair, with everyone draped in mourning clothes, wearing straw rain capes and straw hats, and one person sitting cross-legged on a coffin, making a gesture.

On the side of the red affair, everyone was dressed in festive attire, carrying a red sedan chair with a bride sitting inside.

The two processions played their music as they approached the four of them.

Partridge Whistle's expression changed drastically, and she said in surprise, "Oh no, it's the Red and White Dual Malice! To encounter them both at once is a nine-to-one chance of death!"

Qiusheng was frightened, trembling all over as he said, "Brother Sheng, save me!"

Zhang Cheng brandished his sword and said, "Fellow Daoist Partridge Whistle,

protect the two of them, I will deal with them!"

With that, Zhang Cheng leaped out to deal with the formidable White Malice first. The strongest part of the White Malice was the water ghost on the coffin, but Zhang Cheng was confident he could take it down. He thrust his sword out, and a water ghost stepped forward to parry.

"Bang!"

"Ah!"

The water ghost let out a miserable shriek and flew backward, crashing into the group of ghosts. The remaining water ghosts immediately swarmed forward, and Zhang Cheng dodged and weaved, wounding a water ghost with every strike of his sword.

Seeing that its underlings were all retreating, the strongest water ghost attacked personally. With a wave of its hand, two water arrows appeared out of thin air and shot toward him. Zhang Cheng was greatly alarmed and hurriedly dodged.

"Bang! Bang!"

A large pit was blasted directly into the spot where he had been standing.

Zhang Cheng was secretly shocked, but fortunately, he was much more agile. He immediately gathered his magic power into the ineffective peach wood sword, gave a loud shout, leaped onto the coffin, and quickly thrust his sword.

The water ghost used both hands to draw in a large amount of water droplets to form a shield, blocking Zhang Cheng's sword. A Demon-Subduing Treasure Gourd appeared in Zhang Cheng's other hand, and he shouted, "By decree!"

The treasure gourd sprayed out a stream of Qi, and Zhang Cheng opened his mouth to breathe out the Samadhi True Fire. The true fire instantly expanded in range, enveloping the water ghost. The water ghost defended with all its might, and the surrounding water ghosts immediately stepped forward to help, but Zhang Cheng turned the treasure gourd and shouted, "Absorb!"

"Ah!"

The ten water ghosts had no time to struggle before they were sucked into the gourd.

Seeing that Zhang Cheng was so powerful, the Red Malice female ghost immediately stepped forward, wanting to help the water ghost. Partridge Whistle took out a string of prayer beads and chanted, "Golden light appears swiftly, covering and protecting the True Man. By the order of the law, act immediately!"

After chanting, Partridge Whistle leaped into mid-air, and the prayer beads in her hand shattered. The twenty-four beads immediately turned into golden light and struck out, causing the ghosts of the Red Malice to shriek in succession.

Zhang Cheng was not polite either; he directly sucked the ghosts of the Red Malice into the treasure gourd as well. As for the water ghost surrounded by the true fire, it could only rage in vain.

Zhang Cheng frowned slightly, immediately gathered all the magic power in his body, and blew out the Samadhi True Fire once more. The water ghost gradually could not hold out and was burned to death by the true fire.

"Killed one powerful water ghost, gained three hundred merits."

Zhang Cheng immediately put away the treasure gourd and came before the three of them. Partridge Whistle said with an envious expression, "Wow, A-Sheng, you actually have a Dharma treasure like a treasure gourd, and also, do you know the 'Pot Heaven' divine ability?"

Zhang Cheng waved his hands quickly and said, "How could I possibly know a divine ability? That is a method only immortals possess; I certainly cannot. These Dharma treasures are merely the legacy of my ancestors."

Upon hearing this, Partridge Whistle was extremely envious and could not help but exclaim, "Then there must have been a Great Mage among your ancestors!"

Zhang Cheng smiled and immediately said, "Let's not talk about this for now; we still have to rush back to deal with that Evil Infant, but Fellow Daoist Partridge Whistle cannot go directly to the villa.

This Red and White Dual Malice was specifically waiting for us here; it must be that the Ghost Servant discovered something. Fellow Daoist Partridge Whistle, you should stay in the town first and wait for Daoist Priest Lin to come and meet up with us. Qiusheng, you take Miss Nianying back and tell Daoist Priest Lin about this."

Qiusheng nodded quickly and returned with Mi Nianying, while Zhang Cheng and Partridge Whistle returned to the town and found an inn to wait for Uncle Nine and Daoist Priest Qianhe.
