Chapter 14: All-Out Effort
As soon as the words fell, Jiuselu and the demon rushed forward like lightning. You Chao and Zi Yi Clan did not dare to be careless and hurried to meet them in battle.
Sui Huang also brandished his weapon, a burst of golden flame ignited instantly, scorching the surrounding air until it warped. The intense heat made the space seem torn apart.
But against a formidable foe like Jiuselu, this level of attack was still insufficient.
The demon beside them seized the chance to assist, and the two coordinated well, pinning Sui Huang tightly.
Even though he gave his all, cycling through various spells, the situation remained unchanged.
You Chao and Zi Yi Clan also joined the fight, yet the battle remained dire.
These three Human Race masters gave their all, yet could not break through the Demon Race's defenses.
The four spun heaven and earth in the fierce clash, yet miraculously maintained a stalemate.
It should be understood that Sui Huang and his two companions barely entered the ranks of Great Luo Golden Immortals by a sliver of merit; their true power compared to the Demon Race was worlds apart.
The opposing pair alone was enough to leave them defenseless. They dared not relax at all, for any slack could invite a fatal blow.
At this moment, the demon soldiers outside surged like a pack of rabid wolves, lunging at the remaining Human Race.
Above Mount Buzhou, a mournful wail echoed again, the bloody scene replaying history's nightmare. This time, however, the situation was even more brutal; there was no plot to forge the Witch-slaying Sword, only glaring slaughter.
Countless lives fell, then were devoured to nothing.
Sui Huang's heart burned with urgency, yet he was helpless, forced to watch his kin being brutally slaughtered.
"Quick! Go find Zhou Yi," You Chao shouted hoarsely, his voice nearly drowned by the wind.
The messenger suddenly snapped awake, leapt up, and sprinted wildly toward Zhou Yi.
"Hey, think you can run? There's no way out!" A cold ferocity flashed in Jiuselu's eyes; his palm burst with dazzling white light, like a meteor streaking across the night sky, and shot swiftly at the messenger.
The light flashed like lightning, striking the target instantly. The man fell like a kite with its line cut, crashing heavily to the ground with a thunderous boom.
Witnessing this, Sui Huang's heart sank to the abyss. This was the only one capable of quickly locating Zhou Yi; the others could not breach the Demon Race's ironclad defenses.
"Don't waste your effort; you will all die, and that Zhou Yi will only come to collect your corpses," Jiuselu's voice was low and eerie, lingering in the air.
Where the messenger fell, a blood‑smeared hand slowly rose from the pool. He was drenched in blood, his spiritual energy in chaotic disarray, each exertion searing his heart.
Yet, when he turned back to the horrific scene behind him, a fierce will to survive surged within. He gritted his teeth against the agony and painstakingly crawled toward the distance.
On the other side, Yao Yan was leading his people in cultivation. Suddenly, a blood‑soaked figure crashed heavily before them.
"Save... people..." the man rasped, each syllable sounding as if he had exhausted his last ounce of strength.
Zhou Yi recognized the man at a glance; he was the messenger who had come earlier. Though his breath was faint, he still forced his full strength to say, "The migrating convoy... encountered the Demon Race... danger... go quickly..."
Before he could finish, his voice cut off, and the fire of his life slowly faded.
Along the way, he endured the tearing pain of his meridians; another would have fallen long ago.
Only he, by sheer will, persisted to this point. After uttering the final word, his body finally gave out, slowly collapsing as blood blossomed on the ground like crimson flowers.
Zhou Yi and Yao Yan exchanged a glance.
Yao Yan was about to rush out, but Zhou Yi held him back.
"Why the hurry? There are still our people who need your protection; stay here, I'll go," Zhou Yi's voice was firm and resolute, leaving no room for objection.
"But Human Ancestor, your safety is paramount," Yao Yan said anxiously.
Zhou Yi is the core of the Human Race; as long as he lives, he can continually summon strong allies to aid and alter the fate of the Human Race.
"Don't worry, aren't you aware of my strength?" Zhou Yi smiled faintly, "Can't beat me and still think you can run? Rest assured."
Before the words finished, his form flickered, turning into a streak of light that sped toward Mount Buzhou, leaving only a blurred silhouette.
Yao Yan sighed helplessly, bent down, and carefully lifted the deceased, his expression solemn.
The surrounding clan members gathered around, tears in their eyes, silently burying the dead together with Yao Yan.
On the other side, Sui Huang's battle was already precarious. They faced a three‑against‑two odds with no chance of victory.
The other Human Race stood before the demon soldiers like lambs awaiting slaughter, utterly powerless to resist.
However, Sui Huang gradually sensed something amiss; the opponent repeatedly had chances to crush him but deliberately held back, merely pushing him back. This tightened his heart.
Looking back, the situation of the other Human Race was the same.
Those demons, though slaughtering wildly, seemed restrained, ensuring deaths occurred continuously yet not eradicating the Human Race instantly, evidently buying time.
"Distracted? You're courting death," Jiuselu roared, slamming his massive palm down.
Sui Huang couldn't evade and was struck hard in the chest.
"Bang!" a deafening crash, he was hurled backward, crashing heavily to the ground as dust billowed.
Jiuselu disdainfully scanned the surroundings, and just as he prepared to act further, Zhou Yi's figure suddenly appeared.
Within Zhou Yi, a force flowed leisurely, a mysterious energy harboring miraculous qi.
In the blink of an eye, a White Ze Beast enveloped in golden flames surged like lightning across the sky, lunging at Jiuselu.
Its speed was blinding; Jiuselu only felt a wave of scorching heat surge toward him, caught off guard.
The White Ze collided violently with Jiuselu; Jiuselu hurriedly reverted to his true form, yet was still knocked back several steps, golden flames igniting his body. He exhausted his strength, using spiritual power to extinguish the fire.
"Human Ancestor Zhou Yi!" Jiuselu's voice was cold, echoing all around.
Zhou Yi landed steadily, and Sui Huang and the other two quickly surrounded him. Unexpectedly reunited at this moment of life and death, a swirl of emotions rose within, yet they could only fight side by side against Jiuselu.
Although the four of them faced only two opponents, seemingly giving them the advantage, Jiuselu remained unusually calm.
"Zhou Yi, I've finally waited for you," Jiuselu said, and before the words finished, four silhouettes appeared in the sky.
When they arrived, the demon soldiers ceased hiding, revealing snarling faces, launching ruthless attacks on the humans. On the battlefield, shouts of killing and cries of agony intertwined, echoing to the heavens.
"Six against four, Zhou Yi, you may be strong, but these three burdens can't aid you," Jiuselu mocked.
The aura of six Great Luo Golden Immortals made the space seem solidified, the air heavy as a mountain, pressing people to the point of suffocation.
Both sides' momentum clashed, heaven and earth changed hue, clouds shredded like paper. No words were needed; the battle ignited instantly.
Zhou Yi's expression grew solemn, he gave his all, and the shadow of qi behind him manifested, surrounded by White Ze, glittering with golden light.
