Chapter 15: Unending Howls

~7 min read 1,328 words

The Demon Race also would not be outdone, revealing its true form, over ten zhang tall, blocking the sky.

Facing the huge disparity, Zhou Yi shows no fear, bravely engages.

The law's power collides in the duel, space twists like shattered mirrors, reflecting a wondrous scene.

The Human Race on the ground looks up, only seeing the warped space, even the ancestors' shapes hard to discern.

Small black specks and the massive silhouette interlace; each collision bursts brilliant sparks, lighting the sky.

The clouds are driven away by the battle's force, revealing a sapphire sky like a gem, displaying the great battle in vivid detail.

Zhou Yi fights two enemies alone, yet is no less, his movements agile.

The other three Human Race ancestors are not so lucky; three against two are still at a disadvantage, now it's three against four, the situation is critical, wounds pile up, blood stains their clothes, yet they grit their teeth and persist.

"Zhou Yi, if you get a chance, run; you have the ability to escape. The Human Race's last hope lies with you."

Sui Huang transmits his voice to Zhou Yi; he is gravely wounded, his breath faint.

Before the words finish, golden flames ignite in his eyes, that is the Human Race's torch.

He can burn his entire spiritual energy to the limit, even after battle compressing that energy into a bomb, perishing together with the enemy.

You Chao and Zi Yi Clan understand the elder brother's resolve, and know this is a reluctant act.

Sui Huang grits his teeth and persists; You Chao resolutely rushes downward, hoping to forge a way for his clan, the price possibly being the sacrifice of himself, Sui Huang, and Zi Yi Clan's lives.

All this shocks Zhou Yi; he did not expect that even after doing his utmost to stop the Saint's assault and push back the Demon Race, they are now in a dire predicament.

At this critical moment, a cold voice pierces the battlefield's deathly silence: "Sensing the Human Race's strong one approaching, shall we accelerate?"

To Zhou Yi, that voice is like rain after a long drought.

"Accelerate!" Zhou Yi roars, "Sui Huang, hold on, our savior is coming."

Hearing Zhou Yi's shout, Sui Huang, who was exerting all his strength and whose magical power boiled, suddenly halts.

He had already prepared for total annihilation; one‑on‑one was taxing, yet one‑on‑two he still held the advantage, his aura overwhelming.

But when Zhou Yi shouted, the flames on his body dimmed slightly, and his aura weakened as well.

The opponent seized the moment, launching a fierce counterattack; the situation snapped back to square one, and both sides stalled again.

The air was taut as if about to split. At that instant, a dazzling white flash streaked by, nearly blinding everyone.

As the light faded, a young man in a Confucian robe appeared before the crowd, tall and graceful, his aura extraordinary, like an immortal descended from the heavens.

"I didn't expect the Demon Race to be so rampant here," the youth said lightly, oddly calming the panicked onlookers.

He looked radiant, steady yet fresh, exuding a tranquil strength.

"Another one," Jiuselu said, watching the newcomer, a flash of surprise in his eyes, but mostly shock.

He had thought the plan flawless, yet did not anticipate another human master emerging.

Jiuselu muttered to himself, puzzled why humans always produce prodigies in desperate situations.

Zhou Yi is like that, and this composed youth as well; their bearing and cultivation methods differ from the rest.

Especially this youth Fang Yun, a renowned figure in ancient times, how could he appear among humans? If humans truly have such masters, why are they so destitute?

"Attack!" Zhou Yi commanded.

"Yes!" Fang Yun replied, his mind shifting, a white jade pen materialized in the air, beginning to write.

Zhou Yi felt his blood boil, the surrounding spiritual energy surged like tides, continuously amplifying his power.

Sui Huang and the others also sensed the same change, fatigue vanished, warfire reignited in their eyes, their bodies brimming with strength.

Zhou Yi exhaled, no longer worrying about Sui Huang and the others, and could focus on the fight.

With spiritual energy's support, he summoned a white marsh beast entity, two white marsh beasts fighting side by side with him.

Under the fierce onslaught, Jiuselu suffered greatly; the golden flames on the white marsh beast were ferocious, and once touched, required massive spiritual energy to suppress.

Moreover, the massive void‑shadow of qi behind Zhou Yi was unfathomably powerful; each strike could turn the tide.

Facing a Demon General of the Great Luo realm, Zhou Yi handled it with ease. The two white marsh beasts plus his own fierce assault left the enemy unable to parry, retreating repeatedly.

Sui Huang was also full of fighting spirit; even if it meant exchanging wounds, he would fight to the death, each punch carrying world‑shattering force, the sky changing color, space shattering.

Hurricanes swirled with his fists, turning everything they touched into ruins.

"How did this guy suddenly become so strong?" the enemy shouted in terror.

The great demons screamed in succession.

They had thought that even if Sui Huang burned his spiritual energy, one‑on‑two would not pressure them much. But now it was a completely different story.

Fang Yun lightly waved his pen, and golden lines appeared in the air, lively as dragons, shining with mysterious light.

Those lines fell, tightly shielding the Human Race below.

In an instant, brilliant golden light burst forth, solidifying into an unbreakable protective barrier.

The ferocious Demon Race that surged forward, upon hitting this barrier, shattered like porcelain, blood spraying, limbs strewn everywhere.

Zhou Yi looked at Jiuselu, a mocking smile curling his lips: "Looks like your lucky abacus miscalculated again. The Demon Race never escapes this unlucky end; remember the last one I reduced to a mud‑covered wreck."

Hearing this, Jiuselu froze on the spot, his mind a raging sea.

He could not believe his own clan had fallen into the hands of this human once regarded as an ant, a surge of anger mixed with shock rose in his heart.

"You! Human!" Jiuselu snarled, his teeth chattering with hatred.

It was his first time feeling such a complex emotion toward humans.

Zhou Yi not only repeatedly thwarted his plans but also defeated him head‑on on the battlefield, crushing his pride to dust.

"I said the Demon Race harmed my people; this blood debt must be repaid by you," Zhou Yi's voice grew firmer; before the words finished, his form flashed like light, vanishing instantly.

"Damn!" Jiuselu reacted, but Zhou Yi had already circled behind another Demon General.

That Demon General was fully focused on dealing with the white marsh beast illusion Zhou Yi created, unaware of the danger approaching. Only when the white marsh beast suddenly burst with fire did he realize someone was behind him.

Behind Zhou Yi, a massive shadow of qi lifted its palm high and struck down hard.

That palm was like heaven collapsing and earth sinking; the Demon General went black before his eyes, an irresistible force surged from behind.

He strained all his strength to resist, but to no effect, and could only watch helplessly as he was pressed toward the ground, the sound of bones cracking clear, like a funeral bell of death.

A deafening crash, the demon general was slammed heavily onto the ground, becoming a puddle of meat mush.

In the distance, the demon soldiers trying to break through the barrier were also blown by this force, staggering wildly, wailing continuously.

With the demon general dead, the aura of death spread rapidly, cold enough to make people shiver.

Many in the Demon Race began to panic, thinking of retreat. Though they are members of the top ten demon commander families and reaching the Great Luo realm is hard, if it means fighting the Wu Clan to the death for the Demon Race's honor, it is worth it.
