Chapter 111: The Church Sends Someone, A Routine Inspection
"Good afternoon, Mr. Waseke."
After breathing a sigh of relief that she wasn't late, Yun Mu greeted Mr. Waseke.
"Hehe, no need to be in such a rush." Waseke chuckled twice, walked past her, and said, "It's still early; I won't disturb your lecture."
"Mm."
Nodding, Yun Mu watched the other person walk out of the classroom.
Then, she looked toward the Apprentices below.
Very good, a new week, and this bunch of brats all looked quite well-behaved.
They hadn't forgotten her majesty just because they had the afternoon off yesterday.
Yun Mu was very satisfied with this.
"Ahem."
With a light cough, she began today's lecture.
Although she really wanted to dive into the sewer right now and retrieve the Steam Mecha.
But the things that normally needed to be done still had to be done.
Anyway, the lecture only took an hour; she wasn't unable to wait that long.
Yun Mu still possessed this much patience.
After finally managing to make it to the end of class.
Yun Mu immediately went to the first floor of the Painter Association, handed the giant rat's skin to the attendant lady at the counter, and successfully harvested eight hundred contribution points.
Miss Rose hadn't finished her business yet, so the person manning the station today was still the same young lady from yesterday.
Without thinking too much, after the contribution points were credited, Yun Mu left the Painter Association and headed straight for the underground sewers of Frostfall City.
Skillfully lifting the manhole cover, she followed the stairs downward, passed through the pitch-black corridor, and walked toward her sewer home.
Using her Blood Perception ability to avoid others she might encounter on the way, Yun Mu walked past the corner and arrived in front of the pile of rubble burying the Steam Mecha.
"Clatter—"
Clearing away the rubble on the Steam Mecha, Yun Mu summoned 【Painting: Cold Crow】 to float behind her.
Although she could now use the 【Encapsulation】 skill to seal the Steam Mecha into a painting.
But she had consumed too much Spirituality this morning, and even after her profession advanced, it hadn't fully recovered.
Using 【Encapsulation】 to store such a large Steam Mecha into a painting would consume too much Spirituality.
By comparison, the Spirituality consumed to store it into the Painted World was very little.
So, it was better to stuff it into the captain's cabin of the Cold Crow.
Come to think of it, a First Rank Painter Apprentice could carry at most two Supernatural Paintings, while a Second Rank Painter could carry five at the same time!
That meant she could bind two more Supernatural Paintings! Reality wasn't a Dungeon; if she fought someone in the future, she could start by directly summoning five paintings to float behind her and crush them with firepower.
It felt like the Painter profession had a bright future!
After storing the Steam Mecha into the Painted World of the 【Cold Crow】, Yun Mu took one last look at the situation inside her old home before leaving.
She probably wouldn't come back here again, so she wouldn't bury this entrance; she would leave it for someone fated.
After thinking for a moment, she tucked two Gold Frost Coins into the interlayer of a dilapidated crate.
Just consider it a gift; it didn't matter if the other person took the money and left directly, or if they didn't even look and just threw the crate away.
Everything she wanted to do had already been done.
"Right, almost forgot."
On the way back, Yun Mu summoned Lucy out from the Game Panel.
"Is it already over?"
Lucy's Ether Body circled around Yun Mu again; this was the first sentence the other party said after coming out.
"What is already over?" Although Yun Mu could roughly guess what Lucy was referring to, she still asked her.
"Of course, the gaze of that deity." Lucy paused and explained to her: "That necklace you're wearing can't block a deity's line of sight."
"To prevent being discovered by Him, I could only return first."
"You can return whenever you want?" Yun Mu was somewhat surprised.
"It can't really be considered a normal return." Lucy explained in her ear: "I should have said before, my current form is similar to a Heroic Spirit."
"As long as I take the initiative to dissipate the Ether that constitutes this current body, I will naturally disappear."
"S-so that's how it is..." After hearing Lucy's words, Yun Mu felt a bit ashamed.
It was solved like that? That's too absurd!
While chatting with Lucy, Yun Mu walked toward the direction of the nearest sewer exit.
Here is a piece of trivia that is useless to normal people.
That is, when coming out of a sewer, it is best to choose a manhole cover you are familiar with.
Because you cannot be sure if an unfamiliar manhole cover might be on a busy street.
If you were crushed by a Steam Taxi or a carriage just after coming out, you would at least end up disabled if not dead.
Of course, smart people would listen for sounds before pushing open the manhole cover, but doing so is not only troublesome, but if you really find a problem, you have to go find the next manhole cover.
It's better to just go to a place you are familiar with.
"Phew, the air outside is still fresh."
Crawling out from under a manhole cover in a deserted alley, Yun Mu took a deep breath of the chilling air and said.
Taking advantage of the fact that it was still early, she planned to go back to the cafe.
To go and read that book Elena gave her—uh, anyway, the one with the very long name.
And she didn't know how Edward was doing with contacting his old friend.
Whether he had returned, whether she still needed to work at the café in the afternoon, and whether there would be dinner—carrying these questions, Yun Mu walked in the direction of the café.
However, before she had walked for even a few minutes, she was stopped by a middle-aged man wearing a dark black long robe with a Dark Night Church pendant hanging on his chest.
Behind the middle-aged man stood two Night Watchmen, their entire bodies covered in dark black armor, with pitch-black iron rods hanging at their waists.
"You are surrounded," Lucy whispered in her ear.
"Is there something you need?"
Hearing Lucy's words, Yun Mu observed the surrounding environment with an Immovable expression; noticing that every street was guarded by people from the Church, she asked the middle-aged man blocking her path.
"Do not be nervous."
"I am Yehua, the priest of the Local Church."
Yehua first introduced himself, then asked her, "You must be Miss Yun Mu, the one who witnessed the appearance of the murderer in the Dried Corpse Murder Case with your own eyes."
"." Hearing his words, Yun Mu frowned.
After hesitating for a moment, she nodded and said, "That's right, it's me."
These Church people had come aggressively; playing dumb now would certainly be of no use, so it was better to wait and see what these fellows wanted to do.
"Hehe, it is nothing urgent." A Soft smile appeared on Yehua's face, and he explained to her, "Regarding the Dried Corpse Murder Case, we have recently discovered that the murderer possesses the ability to spread a certain Disease; through this Disease, she can control the people or creatures that have been infected."
"As the only surviving witness, Miss Yun, we need to conduct a routine check on you."
What was going on? Did Yehua mean that he suspected her and Natavia were accomplices?
Weren't these Church people and Natavia also accomplices? Did they not know that Yun Mu was now also a Bloodline?
Did Natavia not tell them, or had she guessed something wrong?
"How do you intend to check?" With these thoughts in her mind, Yun Mu asked with a Neutral expression.
