Chapter 30: Cafe

~8 min read 1,471 words

"Dad, I'm back!"

Lita pushed open the cafe's Gate and called out softly.

When she was outside just now, she had already confirmed through the viewing window that there were no customers in the cafe, so it didn't matter how she called out.

"Keep it down, didn't you see I was resting?"

A slightly Magnetic male voice sounded within the cafe.

Yun Mu followed behind Lita and looked in the direction the voice came from, only to see a middle-aged man wearing a waiter's uniform, currently lying back on a cafe chair basking in the sun.

"I've been out for several hours, why are you still resting?" Lita said somewhat indignantly after hearing the middle-aged man's words.

"There aren't any customers, so what's wrong with me resting for a while?" The middle-aged man waved his hand dismissively.

"Is that just resting for a while?" Lita put her hands on her hips and said, "Even if there were customers, they would have left after seeing you like this!"

"It's not the time for people to be going to or from work right now, so how could there be any customers."

As the middle-aged man spoke, he looked at Yun Mu behind Lita and asked, "Who is this?"

"She is Miss Yun Mu, the one I told you about before, the one who provided important clues for the Dried Corpse Murder Case," Lita said.

After she finished speaking, she looked at Yun Mu and introduced him: "This is my dad, Edward, and he is also the owner of this cafe."

"Hello," Yun Mu greeted politely.

"Nice to meet you, nice to meet you. So you are the hero who provided the appearance of the culprit in the Dried Corpse Murder Case," Edward stood up from his chair and said with a smile.

"I wouldn't dare claim that, I was just lucky," Yun Mu said, brushing it off almost subconsciously.

"How could that be?"

"Not at all, not at all."

How are these two so practiced at this?

Lita looked at them somewhat strangely, then decisively interrupted:

"Stop with the polite formalities."

She rolled her eyes, looked at Edward, and said, "Dad, Miss Yun plans to find a place to live, so I rented her that useless storage room we just cleared out."

"Three Gold Frost Coins a month, water and gas are free, and it includes three meals."

"But the cost is," Lita paused and said, "when the shop is busy, I hope Miss Yun can help out a little."

"I have no problem with that," Yun Mu looked at the empty cafe and agreed without a second thought.

Compared to the benefits she could gain, this cost was basically no cost at all!

If she didn't agree now, when would she?

"Actually, there's no need to help out at the shop..." Edward hadn't finished his sentence before he was defeated by his own daughter's gaze.

"Then that's settled," he nodded and said.

Seeing Edward nod, Lita looked at Yun Mu and said, "Let's go, Miss Yun, I'll take you to see your room."

"Oh, okay."

Yun Mu nodded, then let Lita pull her to the second floor of the cafe.

And after the two left, the expression on Edward's face suddenly became somewhat strange.

"That feeling, is it a 【Painter Apprentice】?"

He looked in the direction of the Painter Association in the distance.

"I'll go talk to Sixin tomorrow," he thought.

On the other side, Yun Mu had actually long been mentally prepared for Edward to see through her strength.

After all, Lita had told her before that her Supernatural knowledge and the Swordsmanship she learned were all learned from her dad.

So, if nothing went wrong, Lita's dad, Edward, should also be a powerful Transcendental.

But... what if it was seen through?

Anyway, she planned to go to the Guard Hall tomorrow to register her Supernatural certification, and Lita's identity was a reserve member of the Supernatural Guard.

She didn't believe the Guard Hall wouldn't know of Edward's existence.

Under these circumstances, coming into contact with the other party was likely not a dangerous thing.

Getting to know each other in advance and becoming a familiar face could also increase her connections.

Wouldn't that be wonderful?

Besides, living in the home of such a big shot, the sense of security was practically overflowing, wasn't it?

That woman with the Scarlet eyes had better take revenge on her now; if she did, and it caused Edward to take action personally, the other party would definitely have a bad time.

"Sigh, what a pity," Yun Mu sighed with some regret in her heart.

"Here, this is your room."

Just as Yun Mu was thinking about all sorts of things, Lita pulled her to the door in the corner of the second floor and said.

"This is it?"

Lita's words brought Yun Mu back to her senses; she pushed open the door and walked inside.

This was a square room of about thirty-six square meters, with a huge curtain hanging on the wall.

Yun Mu stepped forward and pulled the curtain open; as a large amount of dust fell from the curtain, a huge glass window with a gray surface appeared before her.

"Cough, cough," Lita, who was following behind her, coughed twice from the dust and said, "This room was originally used for storage; yesterday, Dad and I carefully cleaned out everything in here."

"The room hasn't been swept yet, what do you think?"

"It's quite good," Yun Mu looked around the room's environment and said sincerely.

To be blunt, before she transmigrated, her own bedroom wasn't even as big as this room.

Aside from the fact that there was a lot of dust, the room was a bit dirty, and it was a bit too empty, she felt there were no problems at all.

After all, the space here was not small, and there was a window facing the sun.

As long as it is cleaned up properly and some furniture is bought to decorate the room, the problems mentioned earlier can all be solved.

Although she probably won't have much money left to purchase furniture after paying the rent, she will just have to sleep on the floor for a while.

"Let me help you tidy up; let's try to get this place to a livable state by tonight," Lita suggested.

"Sorry to trouble you," Yun Mu nodded.

Since someone offered to help, she naturally wouldn't refuse; after all, it would indeed be quite exhausting if she had to clean the room all by herself.

The two first left the room, then returned carrying all sorts of cleaning tools.

They first roughly cleared the dust from the walls, floor, and glass, then used a mop to wipe the inside and outside of the room clean.

Finally, they used rags in their hands to check those corners and crevices.

By the time all of this was finished, the time had actually already reached night.

In the middle, because of the after-work rush, a large group of customers entered the cafe, and Lita went to help with the cafe's work, so the cleaning work during that time was handled by Yun Mu alone.

And after the after-work rush of customers left, Lita immediately hurried back to continue helping her clean the room.

"Whew, it's finally over," Yun Mu said, standing with Lita and looking at the brand-new room.

It was only because the two of them—one a Transcendental, and the other a member of the Supernatural Guard Reserve who had already half-stepped into the realm of Transcendental—were capable, otherwise, they would likely have been exhausted to the point of collapsing on the floor after finishing.

Come to think of it, she seemed to have missed the time to go find that editor-in-chief of the Frostfall City Weekly.

After all, it was already night, and it would be somewhat inappropriate for her to visit the other party at this hour.

"I can only wait until tomorrow to go," Yun Mu thought to herself.

PS: Actually, in the first draft of this book's story.

Lita was the protagonist of this book, while Yun Mu was a princess from the East Continent, the Yunmo Empire.

The two first met at sea.

At that time, Yun Mu, who was leading an expedition fleet, accidentally salvaged a heavily injured Lita while recording the sea area of the Southwest Continent.

However, later on, I felt that I was too unskilled and couldn't write a country full of Eastern charm, so I deleted the setting of the Yunmo Empire.

At the same time, considering the problem that Western fantasy names are generally hard to remember, I changed the protagonist from Lita to Yun Mu.

But interestingly, I did not change Lita's background setting.

So, you understand.
