Chapter 31: Bathing

"Both of you young ladies, take a break for a moment."

Edward appeared at the room's doorway at some point and said.

He looked at the completely filthy Lita with some helplessness, then looked at Yun Mu with a bit of curiosity.

They had both been cleaning together, so why was Lita covered in dust everywhere, while Yun Mu was so clean?

This wasn't something that could be avoided just by being careful.

Noticing Edward's gaze, Yun Mu could roughly guess what he was thinking, so she explained: "I went to, um, a certain clothing store."

The undergarments she wore came with a Magic Cleansing Technique; although it couldn't fully replace the effect of a bath, it was no problem at all for simply clearing away the dust that had adhered to her body.

Yun Mu figured Edward should know that clothing store; not saying the name, just the three words "Old Witch," felt a bit subtle.

"What clothing store? Dad, what do you understand?"

The exchange between the two left Lita feeling a bit confused.

"It's nothing." Edward shook his head.

"I'll tell you after you become a Transcendental."

He turned and left the room, saying before he walked away: "The hot water is ready; remember to come eat dinner after you finish bathing."

"What is that? Why can't you just say it now?" Lita's curiosity was piqued, and she could only cast a pleading look toward Yun Mu.

However, since the other party's dad had chosen not to say, what could she do? She could only shake her head.

Damn it, riddlers get out of Frostfall City!

"Hmph, so you're both not going to say it!"

Lita gave a light huff. Taking advantage of the fact that Yun Mu wasn't paying attention, she grabbed Yun Mu's cheek with her dust-covered palm, leaving a faint gray handprint.

"Hehe, now you're dirty too." The girl laughed triumphantly.

But after she finished speaking, she seemed to remember something and hurriedly apologized: "Ah, sorry, I didn't offend you, did I?"

"It's fine." Yun Mu shook her head.

She wasn't someone narrow-minded; how could she feel offended over such a small matter?

She told Yun Mu about some things she had encountered in the workplace.

Yun Mu had thought Lita was one of those chosen ones who had a Transcendental dad and was half a Transcendental herself, so she became a member of the Supernatural Guard Reserve as soon as she joined.

She didn't expect that she also had to start from the lowest-level Guard.

"Let's not talk about this anymore, let's go take a bath!"

Lita pulled Yun Mu's hand and walked toward the bathroom.

As soon as she stepped into the lobby, a rich aroma of cream wafted over. Having been busy all day without even eating lunch, Yun Mu's stomach growled immediately upon smelling it.

"Hungry, aren't you?" Hearing the sound, Lita turned to look at her and said while walking backward: "My dad's cooking is excellent, you can really look forward to it."

Lita's words successfully raised her expectations, and combined with the milky scent floating in the air, Yun Mu's saliva couldn't stop secreting from her mouth.

"You're here, the timing is just right."

Inside the kitchen, Edward was wearing an apron over his waiter's uniform. He wore an oven mitt on his left hand, and with his right hand, he opened the oven and took out a baking tray.

On the baking tray was the source of the creamy aroma drifting through the lobby.

Edward gently unmolded the metal mold on the tray, and a golden square cake appeared before them.

"Let this sit for a while; it tastes better after it cools down," Edward said, placing the cake on the kitchen table.

Yun Mu looked at the dining table and saw that, besides the cake just placed there, there was also fresh caviar, vegetable salad, and meat lasagna on the table.

These things are one portion per person.

"You all eat first, I'll slice the cake."

Edward said, picking up the long serrated knife used for cutting cake, and sliced the freshly baked cake into four small pieces.

As the cake was cut open, the aroma of cream in the air became even richer, and Yun Mu also noticed that inside the cake, there was actually a chocolate filling!

Yun Mu was pulled by Lita to sit on a chair, but she suddenly felt a bit embarrassed.
