Chapter 33: Typewriter

~8 min read 1,533 words

"As long as it's nothing illegal, then go ahead," Edward said casually.

He was clear on Yun Mu's strength; as an Apprentice-rank Transcendental, as long as she was a little careful, what dangerous things could she possibly run into?

"But going out at night is very dangerous, and you are still a young girl," Lita, who was to the side, said, feeling uneasy.

"It's fine." Yun Mu shook her head with a smile, deciding to reveal a bit of the truth: "The place I'm going to is Frost Bank, there won't be any danger, and besides,"

"Actually, I'm quite capable of fighting," she said.

"I suppose that's true."

Lita recalled the first time she met Yun Mu; although she was in the sewers at the time and didn't get to see with her own eyes the scene of her slaying the Bloodline Living Corpse, she figured her combat ability shouldn't be too bad.

Moreover, as a girl, being able to grow up all alone in the city of Frostfall City, she must certainly have some skills to rely on.

"But why are you going to Frost Bank?" Lita asked, feeling a bit strange: "It closes after four in the afternoon there."

"I met a friend yesterday when I went to Frost Bank to withdraw money, and I agreed to meet her there tonight," Yun Mu explained.

"Is the other party from the bank?" Lita asked again.

"I... suppose so."

Yun Mu recalled what happened at Frost Bank yesterday and said, feeling a bit uncertain.

"That's good then." Lita looked like she was finally relieved.

But not long after, she spoke up again: "Be careful when you go out."

She actually wanted to say that she could go with Yun Mu, but considering this was someone else's private business after all, she could only change her words in the end.

"I will." Yun Mu nodded.

At this moment, neither of them noticed that just as Yun Mu said the four words "Frost Bank," Edward's hand holding the dinner knife and fork suddenly paused for a moment, before returning to normal.

After finishing dinner, there was still some time before twelve o'clock.

Yun Mu first handed this month's three Gold Frost Coins to Lita.

Although she felt that the other party probably didn't care for this little bit of money, since it had been agreed upon beforehand, she would not break her word.

Besides that, she also borrowed a few rugs and a quilt from her, spreading them out on the floor of her room.

Before she bought furniture, she could only sleep on the floor here.

How should she put it, lying on it felt both familiar and strange.

What was familiar was the act of sleeping on the floor, while what was strange was the room's environment and the quality of the bedding.

For some reason, she suddenly felt a bit nostalgic for her little nest in the sewers.

She had left in a bit of a hurry at the time, and she hadn't had time to arrange the stones at the entrance of the nest; she didn't know if it had been discovered by others.

"If there's time, I'll go take a look again," Yun Mu thought to herself.

She lay in the bedding to rest for a while, and when it was about eleven o'clock, she put on her clothes again and left Sisilaiya Cafe.

And just after she left, a hidden figure also quietly followed behind her.

Following the direction in her memory, Yun Mu left Liuli Street and headed toward Frost Bank.

However, not long after she had just walked out of the area of Liuli Street, she frowned.

"Come out, you sneaky guys." She turned and looked at the empty street and said.

"Hehehe."

Several lewd laughs rang out one after another, and the figures hidden on both sides of the street revealed their heads one by one, then silently circled around to surround Yun Mu.

"Little girl, I remember you."

The leader was a man who looked to be in his thirties with a somewhat thin build.

He looked the young girl in front of him up and down with greedy eyes, his expression somewhat ferocious as he said:

"You were originally just a pickpocket who stole things, right? Did you run into some get-rich-quick opportunity recently?"

"Don't you plan to share it properly with us brothers?"

This group of people had set their sights on Yun Mu during the day; they seemed to know her predecessor, and upon seeing that she had not only changed her appearance but also gone to Liuli Street, they harbored evil intentions and had been squatting nearby for some time.

"Good grief, I was that dirty before, and you can still recognize me?" Yun Mu complained in her heart, though she didn't feel particularly afraid.

"If you guys leave now, I can pretend nothing happened and let you off," she said, looking at the thugs around her with an indifferent expression.

Seeing Yun Mu's demeanor, the leading man was actually a bit intimidated for a moment.

Why was she not afraid at all? Could it be that she had some confidence to not be afraid?

The man looked around, but in the end, he found nothing.

And just as he was looking around, his subordinates were getting a bit impatient.

A young man of about twenty-something stepped forward with fiery eyes.

"Why talk so much nonsense? Let's handle her first, then take the money directly from her!"

After he finished speaking, he reached out his left hand and grabbed toward Yun Mu's chest.

"Ugh."

A look of disgust appeared on Yun Mu's face; she lightly dodged the palm, then suddenly raised her leg high and kicked the young man hard in the face.

Her skirt revealed the space underneath when she raised her leg, yet strangely, everyone present was unable to see the scenery under the skirt, only large, large patches of weird Shadow.

"Grass, you blockhead!"

Seeing this, the leading man cursed in anger and could only Roar: "Brothers, get her!"

Facing a siege by so many people, even if Yun Mu could clearly predict their movements, it would be hard to win.

So she moved her mind, and 【Falling】 immediately transformed from an Ether Body into a physical object, floating behind her, then suddenly released a large amount of Black Fog!

"Ahhh!"

Several screams rang out one after another in the Black Fog; suddenly having their senses blocked, many of the thugs fell directly to the ground.

And Yun Mu stood in the Black Fog, completely unaffected.

She picked up a club from beside the feet of one of the thugs, then proceeded to knock them all unconscious, one strike per person.

Only after all the thugs were knocked out did she disperse the Black Fog and toss away the club in her hand.

She searched each of their bodies for a while.

There were ten people in total, with a combined sum of 36 Silver Frost Coins and one Gold Frost Coin.

"In consideration of the fact that you all brought me some money, I'll help you call the Guard for free."

Yun Mu tossed the Gold Frost Coin in her hand, then looked around the surroundings.

Soon, she found her target.

It was a structure that looked very much like a telephone booth; because this place was not too far from Liuli Street, there was one such thing standing on the sides of the street every short distance.

She pulled open the metal Gate of the structure, stepped inside, and inserted a Silver Frost Coin into the machine's coin slot.

Accompanied by the crisp sound of gears turning, a typewriter slowly rose from inside the machine.

Yun Mu, of course, did not know how to use this thing; she searched around and soon found an instruction manual on the counter inside the structure.

It not only explained the usage of the typewriter in detail but also contained nearly two thousand common words and phrases.

Following the manual, she stumbled through writing down the location where the thugs were lying, as well as their crime of gathering a crowd to fight in the middle of the night, and selected the Guard Hall as the destination for sending.

After she carefully checked it over and confirmed there were no issues.

She pressed the button to confirm sending.

PS: Public Steam Communicator, a small building that only appears on the sides of the more prosperous streets in Frostfall City.

Inserting one Silver Frost Coin allows for writing one hundred characters, while one Gold Frost Coin can fill an entire sheet of paper.

One can choose the designated communicator for the message by adjusting the number, whether it is private or public.

Incidentally, the reason for the fee is very simple.

Because if it were set to free, I'm afraid the expensive typewriter inside the building would be pried away by some bastards in just one night.

I don't know why, but I have a bit of a headache.

I'm going to sleep for now; the second chapter will be updated in the afternoon.

Please forgive me.
