Chapter 34: Brenaselia
Click, click.
The sound of gears interlocking echoed in succession, and the typewriter slowly descended, retracting back into the sturdy metal box.
If nothing went wrong, the message had already been sent to the Guard Hall.
As for the efficiency of this thing, Yun Mu was not entirely sure.
To prevent those guys outside from running away, she scavenged a few ropes from the thugs—which she guessed were originally intended to tie her up—and bound them all to the street lamps and greenery by the roadside.
To ensure the people from the Guard Hall wouldn't miss them, she also wrote the five large, pitch-black characters for 【Criminals Here】 on the ground.
As a 【Painter Apprentice】, it was only reasonable for her to carry various Paintbrushes and pigments with her, right?
After admiring her masterpiece with satisfaction for a while, Yun Mu hurried toward the Frost Bank.
Having been delayed by those guys for nearly half an hour, she hoped she wouldn't be late.
And not long after she left, Edward, dressed in a dark black leather coat, appeared at the scene.
"In the middle of the night, using black pigment—who could even see that clearly?" He looked at the characters on the ground, which looked like ghost-drawn talismans, shaking his head while smiling helplessly.
His figure moved with Swiftness as he passed through the thugs tied to the street lamps and trees; in just a few seconds, he dislocated the arms of these guys.
"Hmm, this is much safer now."
He nodded with satisfaction, then chased in the direction Yun Mu had left.
Yun Mu, of course, did not know what happened after she left. In order to reach the Frost Bank before twelve o'clock, she gradually changed from walking to a brisk pace, and then simply started running.
After becoming a Transcendental, her physical fitness had increased significantly.
If one were to talk about stamina and explosive power, she feared even the top athletes on Earth could not compare to her.
So, after hurrying and rushing, she finally arrived in front of the Gate of the Frost Bank before twelve o'clock.
"Ha, ha."
Yun Mu bent over, hands resting on her knees, gasping violently.
After a long while, she finally calmed her breathing.
She looked around, not seeing a certain familiar figure, and there was no one guarding the main entrance of the bank.
It seemed, just as Lita had said, the bank had closed at four in the afternoon.
"Why is it locked?"
She looked at the metal lock on the bank gate, feeling that she might have been played by someone.
And just as she thought this.
"Idiot, look more closely."
The Young Girl's voice sounded from inside the bank.
"Look closely?"
Yun Mu was stunned for a moment. She took a slight Retreat of two steps and carefully observed the gate in front of her.
Upon this look, she really did notice a few clues.
Almost subconsciously, she spread out her Perception ability.
Then she discovered that, in the world of Ether, the gate in front of her did not exist at all; it was merely a layer of Hallucination fabricated out of thin air.
"This..."
Yun Mu reached out her left hand and grabbed toward the gate of the Frost Bank.
Her hand met empty air; sure enough, she grabbed nothing, and her palm passed directly through the handle of the gate.
"This gate is fake?"
She took a step forward, her body passing through the gate, and arrived inside the building.
"What an idiot, you need me to remind you about a Hallucination of this level."
The white-haired Young Girl stood in front of her, hands on her hips, and said with a Taunt.
After finishing her sentence, she curiously circled around Yun Mu.
"How come it's only been a day, and you've already become a Transcendental?"
"Looking at this, is it a 【Painter Apprentice】?"
"How did you see that?" Yun Mu asked with some confusion.
"That painting of yours was practically shoved in my face; if I couldn't recognize it, I might as well quit," the white-haired Young Girl said with an expression that took it for granted.
"."
Although she felt that what the other party said was likely the truth, why did she feel a bit angry?
But thinking that the other party could easily see through her disguise, she must be at least a third-tier Transcendental, so Yun Mu immediately stopped being so angry.
"Sigh, forget it."
In the Frost Kingdom, strength is supreme and the strong are respected; as a weak First-tier Apprentice like her, she was destined to only be able to feel embarrassed.
"So, can you tell me now what you wanted me for?" Yun Mu asked.
"Wait a moment."
The white-haired Young Girl came before her, carefully examining her appearance, and even used her palm to compare their heights.
"What are you doing?" Yun Mu raised an eyebrow.
"Nothing."
The Young Girl took a Retreat of one step and said, "My previous judgment was indeed correct; your height is almost exactly the same as mine!"
"Height?"
Yun Mu noticed the key information, and a flood of either melodramatic or cliché plots surged into her mind.
"Could it be..."
"Hehe, you guessed right," the white-haired Young Girl said, arms crossed over her chest. "I need you to disguise yourself as me and attend a party on my behalf!"
"Pfft, what do you mean, a body double!"
Although she had more or less anticipated it in her heart, after hearing the other party admit it herself, Yun Mu still felt a sense of absurdity.
"You want me to disguise myself as you to attend a gala, why?" she asked decisively.
"To create an alibi for me, of course," the white-haired Young Girl replied.
Good grief, she even brought up an alibi.
"I won't do anything illegal!" Yun Mu refused without hesitation.
"What are you thinking?" The white-haired Young Girl rolled her eyes at her and said, "Of course I wouldn't do anything illegal either."
"Besides, this matter," she paused for a moment and continued, "rather than calling it illegal, it would be more accurate to say it's upholding the law."
"Hmph." Seeing Yun Mu's look of disbelief, the white-haired Young Girl gave a light huff.
"I see that just saying it like this might not make you understand."
"Since that's the case, I will reluctantly let you know my name."
"Ahem." The white-haired Young Girl coughed lightly, her tone suddenly becoming very serious.
"You must listen well: I am the daughter of the eighth king of the Frost Kingdom, Saierliya VIII—the Third Princess, Brena Saierliya."
"Huh?"
After hearing Brena's words, Yun Mu's brain crashed on the spot.
Meanwhile, in the distance, Edward, who was hiding outside the Frost Bank eavesdropping, suddenly widened his eyes, his face filled with a look of astonishment.
The next second, his expression changed abruptly.
"Not good!"
Because he was too surprised, his already clumsy stealth skills gave him away, and his presence was almost instantly locked onto by the Shadow Guard beside Brena.
Fighting was definitely out of the question; it wasn't that he couldn't win, but if he did, he would likely be wanted by the entire Frost Kingdom.
If his luck was bad, he would probably even be branded with the charge of attempting to assassinate a princess.
"No, I have to make a run for it!"
Edward's figure surged, and he instantly rushed out from his hiding spot. The five Shadow Guards exchanged glances, and three of them immediately split off to pursue him, leaving only two to continue protecting Brena.
After rushing out, Edward ran directly toward the seaside of Frostfall City, which was the direction of Frostfall Port.
He left the three Shadow Guards far behind, then made a sudden dash and jumped straight into the depths of the sea.
PS: Frostfall Port is the name of the seaside port of Frostfall City.
This port operates at full capacity almost every day; no matter what day of the year you arrive here, you can hear the deafening sounds of machinery at work and the billowing black smoke that is always being emitted.
To put it bluntly, compared to the Energy Tower, this is the true heart of Frostfall City, constantly transporting goods from overseas, the Heling Empire, and across the ocean from the New Continent.
