Chapter 6: Robbery
"Is there really no way at all?" Wang Chong smashed his fist onto the ground.
"To lift the curse of the Ghost God, unless... unless..." Hawk hesitated, unable to finish.
"Unless what?" Wang Chong asked urgently.
"Sigh! Forget it, it's useless to say." Hawk shook his head.
Damn it! Are you going to say it or not!
Wang Chong felt like he wanted to strangle him.
Wang Chong's ferocious expression startled Hawk as well; he quickly said, "Unless your power can surpass the Ghost God, then the Ghost God's curse will naturally lose its effect. However, that is impossible. The Ghost God is a legendary existence; who could surpass the Ghost God?"
"Is that so?" Wang Chong looked at his withered left hand, his eyes gradually becoming resolute.
"Brother Wang Chong, do not worry too much. As long as you do not use the Ghost God's abilities, you will not suffer the Ghost God's backlash." Hawk comforted Wang Chong.
"I understand." Wang Chong returned to calmness.
"What are your plans next?" Hawk asked.
This truly stumped Wang Chong.
He had just arrived in this place, unfamiliar with the people and the land; what plans could he have?
"Brother Wang Chong, if you have nowhere to go, come with us." Xixi looked at him with hope in her eyes.
Wang Chong was willing to go with them; after all, he was not yet familiar with this place, and he also wanted to ask Hawk about cultivation.
"Young Lady, this trip is for business, I'm afraid..."
Hawk did not say the rest explicitly, but any smart person knew what he meant.
Although Wang Chong wanted to go with them, he did not want to put them in a difficult position, so he spoke up: "Forget it, I also want to walk around and see; I won't go with you."
"Brother Wang Chong, are you really not going with us? I will miss you." Xixi said reluctantly.
"Silly girl, after some time passes, I can come visit you." Wang Chong smiled slightly.
"Really?"
"Really."
"You must keep your word."
"Of course."
"Here, take this." Xixi took the ring from her hand and put it on Wang Chong's hand.
"What is this?"
"This is a token. In the future, when you arrive at Saint Light City, you can come find me with this ring. Moreover, there is a small space inside it where you can store things."
Wang Chong did not make a fuss; setting aside that it was a token, the fact that there was a storage space inside was simply too magical and too practical.
Moreover, for Xixi, this was just an ordinary item, but in Wang Chong's hands, its function was vastly different.
Hawk actually felt somewhat guilty; Wang Chong had saved them, yet he could not help at all.
Xixi wanted Wang Chong to go with them, but he had refused.
However, there was no other way; he had his own reasons.
"Brother Wang Chong, I have nothing good to give you," Hawk stroked his greatsword with a reluctant expression, "Although this sword is not considered very precious, it has accompanied me for a long time; take it for self-defense."
This was going too far; Wang Chong quickly waved his hands. "Brother Hawk, this is your personal sword; how can I take it?"
"Take it; I know you like it." Hawk forcibly stuffed it into Wang Chong's hand.
Having his inner thoughts exposed, Wang Chong felt a bit embarrassed.
"I also have a piece of beast skin here; take it to make a wrist guard to cover your arm, so outsiders do not see your Ghost Hand and cause trouble. If you do not know where to go, head east from here; it is about three or four days' journey. There is a small town called Lolan Town; goblins often appear there. You can find your people there." Hawk handed the beast skin to Wang Chong and said.
"Get lost!"
Watching the two leave, Wang Chong felt a moment of confusion.
He truly felt that the world was vast, yet there was no place for him to belong.
However, that was only a moment of confusion; he quickly made a decision.
Go to Lolan.
He was not going to find goblins; it was simply because that was the nearest settlement.
A journey of three or four days was nothing to Wang Chong; he was not in a hurry to travel.
He strolled along slowly, admiring the scenery along the way; when resting, he pondered that Basic Sword Technique, quite content.
Seeing that half the journey was over and it was noon again, Wang Chong was tired and hungry; he decided to find something to eat first, then rest a bit before continuing.
Through these days of travel, he had discovered that the things here were very different from those on Earth, yet there were commonalities.
For example, the turkey he caught yesterday; this was not the American kind of turkey, but a turkey that spat fire, which was vastly different from Earth's chickens.
However, once roasted, the tempting aroma was so similar.
Most importantly, the fire used to roast the turkey was spat by the turkey itself, which made Wang Chong very satisfied, avoiding the embarrassment of eating raw meat.
"Today I'll make a Beggar's Chicken; not bad, let's happily decide on that." Wang Chong rubbed his hungry stomach, pondering his lunch.
"Halt!" Suddenly, a loud shout interrupted Wang Chong's reverie.
Six or seven figures jumped out from behind the grass piles.
"Goblins?"
Wang Chong looked closely; these fellows had sharp noses and monkey-like cheeks; were they not exactly the image of goblins in his mind?
The green-skinned goblin at the head stepped forward two paces, cleared his throat, and began to speak: "This mountain is opened by me, this tree is my..."
"Go to hell!"
Wang Chong did not fall for this; before the green-skinned goblin could finish, he stepped forward and kicked him in the belly.
"Ouch, damn it!" The green-skinned goblin rolled away.
"Hmph!"
Wang Chong looked coldly at the few goblins; did they not see what kind of man he was!
He was a special forces soldier, specialized in capturing bandits!
A few misfits, and they wanted to rob him?
Seeing Wang Chong so fierce, the remaining goblins shrank back.
"Lowly thing, you dare hit me? You are seeking death!" The green-skinned goblin got up and ran over in a rage.
He ran over, saw the other goblins cowering in a ball, and instantly flew into a fury; he went up and slapped the goblin nearest to him hard across the face, then pointed at their noses, stomping his feet and cursing: "You bunch of trash, afraid of this ugly monster? What use are you to me? Just wait, see how I deal with you when I get back."
"Ugly monster? Who are you calling that?" Wang Chong frowned slightly.
Where the hell did this guy come from? He was just a goblin himself, yet he dared call others ugly, and was so cruel to his own partners; he truly was no good.
Wang Chong took one step and was behind the green-skinned goblin; the other goblins shrank back in unison.
The green-skinned goblin was still stomping his feet and cursing.
"You are too noisy!"
Wang Chong twisted both his arms behind his back.
The goblin was too thin; Wang Chong grabbed both his arms in one grip.
"Ouch, ouch, my arms are breaking, let go quickly!" The green-skinned goblin let out a wail like a pig being slaughtered.
This was too spineless; Wang Chong was speechless. He loosened his grip slightly and asked, "Didn't you want to rob me?"
"No, your honor misunderstood; we just saw you were too tired walking and wanted to ask if you needed someone to carry your sedan chair." The green-skinned goblin said ingratiatingly.
