Chapter 7: Forcing Me to Kill
"Enough, scram!" Wang Chong couldn't bear to look at their cowardly appearance any longer.
The Green-Skinned Goblin sprinted over ten meters in a flash, then turned back to curse loudly, "You Green-Skin Monkey, and the rest of you, just wait! I'll go back and tell them you're all in this together. Just wait for King Uza's wrath! By then, I'll twist your head right off your shoulders, you Green-Skin Monkey..."
"Damn it!"
Wang Chong's temper flared up instantly.
He took off running after the Green-Skinned Goblin.
But although the Green-Skinned Goblin was a coward, he was incredibly fast on the run; seeing Wang Chong chasing him, he vanished in a flash, weaving through the forest as if walking on flat ground.
What a talent! Wang Chong stood there completely dumbfounded.
When he returned, the other goblins were still standing in the same spot.
"Why haven't you left yet?" Wang Chong glared at them.
His anger hadn't subsided at all; that Green-Skinned Goblin was truly detestable, having subjected him to an undeserved tirade.
"Boohoo... we're dead meat, Hanik is definitely going back to snitch on us..." The several goblins huddled together, crying.
"Tsk! Another bunch of cowards!"
Wang Chong felt nauseated just being near them; he didn't even feel like eating anymore and tried to walk around them to continue his journey.
"You can't leave!"
The several goblins cried out and hugged him tightly.
"What? Trying to latch onto me now!" Wang Chong raised a fist the size of a sand pot.
With a swipe, he scattered the goblins, who all ran away.
Seeing that Wang Chong wasn't chasing them down to beat them, they immediately dropped to their knees and kowtowed to him.
"Are you sick or something! If that guy goes back to snitch, can't you go back and snitch on him too?" Wang Chong really couldn't stand it anymore.
They were all such honest folks, bullied to such an extent; otherwise, they wouldn't be like this.
"My lord, you don't understand; the Green-Skinned Goblins are notoriously cunning, and Hanik is especially so. He usually doesn't even regard us Green-Skin Goblins with any respect; now that he has an excuse, he will definitely kill us," one goblin said, summoning his courage.
"Stop with the 'us' and 'we'! Who's 'us' with you? Let me tell you, if you keep acting like this, don't say another word, and I won't get involved either," Wang Chong said, his face iron-green with anger.
Damn it, can't I even get past this?
"Yes, my lord," the goblin hurriedly kowtowed. "My lord, one look at you tells us you're a good person; for the sake of... uh... that... please help us."
Holy crap!
Wang Chong felt his blood rushing to his head; he struggled to restrain himself. "Enough, stop handing me these 'good person' cards. If you have something to say, just say it. How exactly do you want me to help you?"
"My lord, as long as you let us capture you and take you back, we'll be considered as redeeming our faults through merit..."
"Screw your grandfather!" Wang Chong could no longer hold back; he stepped forward and kicked the speaking goblin to the ground. "Thinking I'd give you face, are you?"
"Whether you live or die is up to you! Anyone who bothers helping you is a grandson!" Wang Chong turned and walked away.
These goblins had far too much of a slave mentality; they were simply beyond saving. Even if Wang Chong had a kind heart, it didn't extend to cutting off his own flesh to feed a tiger.
He made up his mind: no matter how bitterly they begged or how pitifully they acted, he absolutely would not get involved.
"My lord, don't be angry; we're doing this for your own good. You don't know how formidable King Uza is. If you go back with us, we'll say you voluntarily offered your loyalty to King Uza. By then, the few of us will listen to your commands, and if we contact a few others we're close with, you might even become a squad leader..." The several goblins refused to leave, following closely behind Wang Chong, pleading earnestly.
"Get lost!"
Good grief! Do they think I'm a fool?
"My lord, I have an eighty-year-old mother at home, and below me are children crying for..."
"Go to hell!" Wang Chong stepped forward and stomped on his face.
Terrified, the goblins scattered and ran away.
"Hmph, now you know how formidable I am," Wang Chong said proudly, clapping his hands as he continued on his way.
Before long, those several goblins chased after him again.
"My lord, you must be thirsty, right? We just fetched some water; it's sweet and refreshing!" One goblin eagerly offered water cupped in large leaves.
Come to think of it, after fussing with them for so long, Wang Chong was indeed a bit thirsty.
"Cut the act," Wang Chong said, not falling for it.
"My lord, there's no water source along this stretch of road ahead; you should drink some. Don't worry, we won't make any demands," the goblin said.
"Let's make this clear first: you insisted on giving me this water. Even if you make demands, I won't agree to them."
Wang Chong took the water, stating his terms upfront.
"Of course, of course, we're not that kind of people," the goblin said, beaming with joy.
Wang Chong hadn't drunk water for half a day; plus, he'd worked up a belly full of anger arguing with them and had been shouting at the top of his lungs for ages, so his throat was already smoking.
He gulped down several mouthfuls, finishing the water in no time.
"Burp~"
"Refreshing," Wang Chong said, feeling the water was incredibly sweet.
"My lord, now that you've drunk the water, perhaps we could..." The goblin licked his lips and sidled up closer.
Wang Chong glared at him. "Do you believe I'll beat you to death?"
"Oh no! There's no justice in this world! Our lives are so bitter..." The goblin plopped down on the ground and began throwing a tantrum, rolling around.
Wang Chong was completely baffled by them.
"What exactly do you want?" Wang Chong felt utterly exhausted.
"My lord..." Seeing a glimmer of hope, the goblin immediately grinned and sidled up closer.
"If you're still trying to get me to surrender, stop right there. The word 'surrender' doesn't exist in my dictionary," Wang Chong said.
"My lord, we really are doing this for your own good. After Hanik goes back to snitch, King Uza will surely be enraged and humiliated, and you won't be able to escape then. You don't know how vicious King Uza is; every few days, he eats a goblin. Over the years, hundreds of goblins have been eaten by him. It's really not easy for the few of us to survive; please have some mercy..." The goblin cried, tears and snot streaming down his face.
"Sigh!"
Wang Chong sighed, looked at the goblin before him, and asked, "What is your name?"
"This humble one's name is Suona."
"Suona? A good name. You must love music very much."
Wang Chong continued, "Suona, since Wusa is so vicious, why don't you flee?"
"Flee?" Suona stared blankly.
It was as if he had never considered this question before.
"Why should we flee?" Suona countered.
"Because you do not wish to die, so you must flee," Wang Chong said.
"We do not need to die if we offer you up to the Great King," Suona said.
"Then you might as well go ahead and die." Wang Chong lost the will to speak.
Suona cast a glance, and the remaining goblins rushed forward in unison, grabbing Wang Chong's thighs and launching into another round of bitter pleading.
"You really think I dare not kill people, don't you!"
Enraged, Wang Chong moved his intent, and a great sword appeared in his hand.
The oppressive, chilling radiance terrified the goblins; their faces changed drastically as they shrank back in fear.
"Pah! Given face but refusing to take it!" Wang Chong returned the great sword to his storage ring.
"We don't want face, we want our lives!" Seeing the great sword vanish, Suona rushed forward again, hugging Wang Chong's thigh.
"Heavens! This is forcing me to commit murder!" Wang Chong felt as though a volcano were pressing against his chest, ready to erupt at any moment.
