Chapter 6: Forced Confrontation at the Door
Gu Family villa.
Gu Tingyan had the servant take Gu Yichen upstairs, and he obediently went upstairs with his little schoolbag to do his homework.
Gu Tingyan carried the medical kit and pulled Qin Shu to sit on the sofa, using a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to carefully wipe the wound on her arm.
Gu Tingyan lowered his head to look down at her, his voice gentle: "Next time something like this happens, just call me directly."
"Your husband will back you up."
Qin Shu lowered her eyes, her heart feeling as if a jar of vinegar had been overturned, and she tugged at her lips, saying indifferently: "How would I dare to call you? If Chu Sheng answered the phone and then committed suicide, I would become the sinner."
"Wouldn't you hate me to death?"
Gu Tingyan knew she was angry.
Gu Tingyan watched her keep her head lowered, refusing to look at him; he sighed and rubbed her hair: "It was my fault yesterday; I shouldn't have lost my temper with you."
"I apologize to you, will you forgive me?"
Qin Shu's lowered eyelids were slightly red, her lips were pressed together lightly, and there was a sour, aching sensation in her nasal cavity.
Seeing that the tip of her nose was red and her eyes were red too, just like a little rabbit, Gu Tingyan reached out and pulled her onto his lap to sit.
Gu Tingyan wrapped his arms around her waist from behind, coaxing her in a low voice: "Are you feeling wronged?"
Qin Shu pursed her lips, her eyes brimming with tears as she stubbornly turned her head away, refusing to look at him.
"Tomorrow I will clear my schedule and take you and the child out to play."
"I promise, I will absolutely not lose my temper with you next time."
"Hmm?"
Qin Shu reached out and hugged his waist tightly, nodding as she held him: "Don't let it happen again!"
Actually, she was very easy to coax.
Looking at this face of Gu Tingyan, she found it hard to be angry.
As long as he coaxed her a little, she could forgive him.
Qin Shu pressed her head against his chest and smelled a faint scent of perfume; her body stiffened slightly.
Even though that perfume scent was very faint, she still smelled it.
This perfume scent on Gu Tingyan belonged to Chu Sheng.
How close would they have to be for his body to be stained with another woman's scent? Or rather, they must have been hugging each other for that perfume scent to linger on him for so long.
Qin Shu's heart instantly fell into chaos, as if shrouded by a violent storm.
Qin Shu raised her head, grabbed his clothes to sniff them, and looked at the suit Gu Tingyan hadn't changed all night with great disgust: "You stink."
Gu Tingyan was a person who had mysophobia and was usually very clean.
Gu Tingyan paused, lowered his head to sniff, and thought it didn't stink, but there was a faint scent of perfume.
Did Qin Shu have a dog's nose?
He paused and curled his lips, saying: "I didn't change clothes at the hospital; there might be a smell of disinfectant."
"Chu Sheng's condition isn't good, someone has to keep watch."
Qin Shu pouted: "If I get sick in the future, can you also keep watch by my hospital bed like a filial son?"
Gu Tingyan curled his lips into a smile: "What else?"
"Also, not a filial son, I am your man."
"You are not allowed to get sick; I can't bear it."
He explained: "Jiang Xubai came last night too; I wasn't the only one there."
Later, Jiang Xubai came, and the two of them kept watch together for the whole night.
Jiang Xubai was Gu Tingyan's childhood friend; he didn't like Qin Shu and was very hostile toward her, and Gu Tingyan rarely took her out to meet his group of brothers.
After Gu Tingyan finished cleaning her wound, he went upstairs to take a shower and change into clean clothes: "Huahua, I'm going to the company."
"If you need anything, call me."
Qin Shu: "Oh."
The sound of an engine came from downstairs; Gu Tingyan had gone to the company.
Qin Shu's phone dinged; it was a text message from an unknown number: "Come out and meet."
Qin Shu's intuition told her that the person on the other end was Chu Sheng.
Qin Shu looked at the text message; she hadn't seen her in many years, and she actually wanted to go and meet Chu Sheng.
Coffee shop.
When Qin Shu walked in carrying her bag, Chu Sheng was leaning against the window wearing a white dress; the sunlight shone on her, seemingly casting a glow upon her, and her skin was dazzlingly white.
That pure and beautiful face was even whiter than it had been five years ago. She was also more womanly; Qin Shu didn't expect her to ask her out right after cutting her wrists to commit suicide.
She walked over calmly, sat down opposite Chu Sheng, placed her bag on the table, and said in an indifferent voice: "You have something to find me for?"
Qin Shu's gaze fell on her fair wrists, which were wrapped in gauze with bloodstains faintly showing through.
Chu Sheng lowered her eyelids, a faint sadness washing over her face; she pulled her wrists back, placed her hands under the table, and her complexion was as pale as paper, looking as if she were very afraid of Qin Shu.
It was as if she were some old hag trying to persecute her.
That little face was on the verge of tears, the corners of her eyes were red, and she looked so pitiful that she seemed as if she would fall with a gust of wind, her thin body as delicate as a sheet of paper.
It was indeed enough to stir up a man's protective instincts.
Chu Sheng looked at Qin Shu with her pale little face and said in a weak voice: "Can you leave Tingyan?"
Qin Shu sat down and ordered a cup of coffee for herself; hearing this, she raised her eyebrows faintly and crossed her arms: "No."
Chu Sheng didn't expect her to refuse so cleanly, and she spoke calmly: "I can give you money."
"I'll give you however much you want!"
Qin Shu pondered for a moment, touched her chin, and a meaningful smile appeared on her face: "Really?"
Chu Sheng: "Yes!"
She handed a check to Qin Shu and smiled slightly: "I can satisfy whatever amount you fill in."
"As long as you leave Tingyan."
Qin Shu took the check, gave it a shake, asked the waiter for a pen, lowered her head, leaned over the table, and earnestly filled in the numbers, scribbling away until she had filled every single box!
Chu Sheng glanced at her indifferently; Qin Shu's greed for money was written all over her face, unmasked, and Chu Sheng's lips curled slightly, her eyes filled with disdain.
A woman like this is not worthy of Tingyan.
He deserves someone better, like her!
Being able to get rid of Qin Shu with money was the best thing that could happen.
Qin Shu finished filling out the check and handed it to Chu Sheng: "I don't want much, just this little bit."
She sat in her chair like a well-behaved student waiting for a teacher's praise.
Chu Sheng took the completed check, gave a contemptuous smile, her eyes full of disdain, but the next second, upon seeing the number Qin Shu had written, her face turned livid.
The shameless amount Qin Shu had filled in was: 999,999,999.99 yuan (one cent short of 1 billion yuan).
Chu Sheng: "..."
"Are you playing me?"
Qin Shu gripped her coffee cup and said righteously: "Gu Tingyan is my beloved husband, so you have to pay extra!"
"What? You don't have the money?"
Qin Shu rolled her eyes: "If you don't have the money, why are you acting like a big shot?"
Qin Shu's lips held a smile as she stirred the coffee on the table: "Or is it that you aren't actually in true love with Gu Tingyan?"
She tutted a few times and said with disdain: "You aren't even willing to spend this much money on him, yet you claim to love him."
"If I had five hundred, I'd spend it all on him; if I had a billion, I'd be willing to give it to him too!"
Qin Shu really did have five hundred in cash in her bag, but she could have torn her pockets apart and still not found a billion.
Chu Sheng's face darkened: "You are asking for the moon!"
Qin Shu crossed her arms, completely unbothered, and used a classic scumbag line: "If that's what you want to think, then there's nothing I can do."
"Whatever you say goes."
Chu Sheng could come up with a way to commit suicide just from a phone call with her; she was no simple, innocent flower.
If something were to actually happen, Gu Tingyan would hate her to death.
She and Gu Tingyan would never be able to live a good life together in this lifetime.
Seeing that Qin Shu didn't know what was good for her, Chu Sheng sneered inwardly, though she couldn't possibly give her a billion.
She tried hard to calm her emotions and looked at Qin Shu: "I am the person Tingyan loves most."
Qin Shu: "I have been married to Gu Tingyan for five years, and we have a son."
Chu Sheng's expression turned ugly in an instant.
Qin Shu held up four fingers and looked at her, saying: "That's four years longer than you've been with him."
