Chapter 7: The Twisted Melon Isn't Sweet, But It Quenches Thirst
Chu Sheng watched Qin Shu, who remained as composed as an old monk sitting in meditation, and chuckled, her voice coquettish: "Tingyan doesn't love you; to him, you are merely a responsibility."
Qin Shu crossed her legs and smiled nonchalantly: "He and I have a son."
Chu Sheng's fingers nearly crushed her cup.
"Qin Shu, don't you feel like a pathetic wretch, being married to someone who doesn't love you?"
"A melon twisted off the vine by force is not sweet!"
Qin Shu took a sip of coffee and said indifferently: "A melon twisted off the vine by force is not sweet, but it quenches thirst."
As for her husband, why should she give him up just because Gu Tingyan's ex-girlfriend has returned?
Qin Shu stood up, ready to leave, her patience exhausted: "If you only sought me out to say these vapid things, then there really is no need."
"Because Gu Tingyan is mine now."
"He is the biological father of my child."
Chu Sheng chuckled, her voice soft and sweet: "Tingyan stayed by my side all night yesterday."
"When it comes to my affairs, he always likes to handle everything personally, saying he doesn't feel at ease leaving them to others."
Listening to the details from her mouth, Qin Shu only felt disgusted.
Qin Shu's figure paused slightly, her fingers tightened, and she turned back to look at her, sneering: "What? Do you also like to follow in your mother's footsteps and be a shameful mistress?"
Chu Sheng's expression changed slightly upon hearing this, and she stood up abruptly, shouting at her: "Who are you calling a mistress!"
The moment she stood up, the keys on the table fell to the floor, landing right by Qin Shu's feet, whether intentionally or not.
Seeing the key, Chu Sheng wore a smile on her lips; that was the bridal home Gu Tingyan had bought for her.
Chu Sheng smiled faintly: "Do you know the origin of this key?"
"It is for the villa Tingyan bought for me, originally intended to be our bridal home!"
Qin Shu paused, feeling uncomfortable; her fingers turned white from gripping them, and looking at Chu Sheng's pretentious, showy face, she sneered. The next second, with utter heartlessness, Qin Shu raised her foot and kicked the key flying.
The key went *thud* and landed flawlessly inside a trash can.
A waiter happened to be going to take out the trash, tied the garbage bag into a tight knot, and threw it into the garbage truck.
The garbage truck drove away immediately.
Qin Shu leaned over to look and said apologetically: "Your bridal home seems to have flown away."
Chu Sheng: "........."
That evening, Gu Tingyan went to the hospital to see Chu Sheng and returned with a frigid air, finding Qin Shu leaning on the bed reading a book in her black pajamas.
Qin Shu had just finished bathing, her skin supple and tender, as if it would drip water at a pinch. Her hand turned the page, the hem of her clothes pulled up to reveal a small section of fair, tender flesh, her slender waist small enough to be encircled by a hand.
That waist was both slender and soft.
She was holding a medical book; ever since Gu Tingyan's legs became disabled, her bookshelf had gained several ancient texts on acupuncture and massage.
Gu Tingyan glanced at her long, white legs, his eyes darkening slightly, his intensity receding a fraction as he said indifferently: "You went to see her?"
Those legs were long and straight.
They were legs he could toy with for five years and never grow tired of.
Gu Tingyan loved how she was like a succubus in bed, taking the initiative to stretch her legs and hook them around his waist.
Qin Shu didn't even look up: "Mm."
Gu Tingyan's eyes were heavy, his voice cold as he said: "What did you say to her again to make her cry until her eyes were swollen?"
Qin Shu didn't even lift her eyelids, tossing the voice recorder from her bag toward him: "Listen for yourself."
When dealing with a villain, one cannot be too much of a gentleman.
After listening, Gu Tingyan's expression changed slightly, his knuckles turning white as he gripped the recorder.
He looked up at Qin Shu, his eyes as obscure as the deep, his voice like cold ice: "If she really gave you a billion, would you intend to give me up to her?"
Qin Shu's hand holding the book paused; she looked up at him earnestly and asked: "Do you want me to give you up to her, or do you not?"
Gu Tingyan stared at her fixedly for a moment, then snorted coldly and went to the bathroom.
Only when she could no longer hear him did Qin Shu curse softly: "What kind of dog-brained habit is that?"
The bathroom door opened, and the steam from the hot water billowed into the bedroom. Qin Shu looked up to see the man walking out shirtless, his wet hair dripping water that traced down his collarbone and spread across his lower abdomen.
Gu Tingyan was drying his hair when he saw Qin Shu reading, his hand pausing: "Still reading?"
"Mm."
Her gaze swept lightly over that flawless physique before she lowered her head to continue reading.
The two lay on the same bed; Qin Shu turned off the small lamp and felt the bed sink beside her as Gu Tingyan got in.
A distance of one pillow separated the two.
Tonight, neither had the heart for intimacy.
Gu Tingyan leaned over, held her tightly from behind, and whispered: "Sleep."
Qin Shu: "Mm."
Qin Shu closed her eyes and gradually drifted off as time passed, her breathing becoming shallow; however, she still woke up when the man got out of bed.
Qin Shu kept her eyes closed, hearing Gu Tingyan open the door and walk out, followed by the *click* of a lighter striking on the balcony.
The man held a glowing red cigarette between his fingertips, his brows and eyes as noble as a painting.
Gu Tingyan lowered his gaze, making it impossible to see the emotions in his eyes; the night wind blew through his cold hair tips and brushed past his handsome brows.
He lifted his eyes to look at Qin Shu on the bed in the bedroom; he had been married to her for five years and they had raised a son.
Gu Tingyan furrowed his brows tightly, taking one drag of his cigarette after another.
Gu Tingyan leaned against the railing, smoking over and over again, white smoke curling around him and blurring his handsome face; misery and irritation surged in his heart, and a pile of cigarette butts accumulated at his feet.
The long-silent group chat popped up with messages again and again, with Jiang Xubai tagging everyone: "Sheng is back!"
"Once she is discharged from the hospital, let's throw her a welcome ceremony!"
"Come at me, all of you!"
There were five people in the group: him, Chu Sheng, Jiang Xubai, Ji Yanli, and Lu Ziqian.
The five of them were childhood friends who grew up together, and their relationship was far from ordinary.
After Chu Sheng died, Gu Tingyan got married almost immediately.
Jiang Xubai gave Gu Tingyan a thorough scolding in the group, saying he had let Chu Sheng down.
Jiang Xubai tagged Gu Tingyan separately and said sarcastically, "President Gu, your wife wouldn't forbid you from going out, would she?"
Hospital.
Chu Sheng also saw the messages in the group; she watched the messages sent by Jiang Xubai, and both Ji Yanli and Lu Ziqian had sent messages.
Ji Yanli, Lu Ziqian: "Fine."
Yet Gu Tingyan was not lurking; her face turned pale again and again, until Jiang Xubai tagged him separately.
Gu Tingyan said: "She isn't that petty."
"Address."
Jiang Xubai sneered: "Sure."
After saying that, he threw an address over, with the time set for three days later.
After Gu Tingyan finished smoking, he did not return to the room that night, but sat on the rocking chair on the balcony all night.
And Qin Shu in the bedroom, likewise, lay on the bed sleepless all night.
