Chapter 69: Don't Tell Your Sister-in-law

~7 min read 1,395 words

Seeing that Chu Sheng still dared to beg her brother for help, Gu Qinghuan grabbed her hair and refused to let go, turning back to roar at Gu Tingyan with red eyes: "Brother, are you and sister-in-law getting a divorce?"

Gu Tingyan's footsteps faltered, his voice low: "Who told you that?"

Gu Qinghuan turned back to glare at Chu Yu: "Stinky Chu Yu!"

Gu Tingyan cast a cold, sharp look at Chu Yu; Chu Yu subconsciously lowered her head, biting her lip tightly, not daring to meet Gu Tingyan's gaze.

Gu Qinghuan looked at Gu Tingyan and said resentfully: "If you dare to divorce my sister-in-law, I will apply to be awarded to my sister-in-law!"

"From now on, I will break all ties with you! You are no longer my brother!"

"I call her Sister Qin Shu!"

Gu Tingyan: "..."

"What 'sister'?"

"We are not divorcing."

Upon hearing this, Chu Sheng suddenly looked up, her eyes filled with astonishment, seemingly unable to believe it.

How could a man as proud as Gu Tingyan tolerate Qin Shu having an affair with another man and still not divorce her?

Gu Tingyan rubbed his forehead in a headache, his voice low: "She will always be your sister-in-law."

"Don't talk nonsense."

Gu Tingyan glanced at Gu Qinghuan: "Let go of her. Tugging and pulling like this—does it look good if it spreads online?"

Gu Qinghuan snorted coldly, thinking it made sense; she was the daughter of the Gu Family, after all, and she had her reputation to maintain.

Gu Qinghuan let go, trotted over to tightly hook her arm around Gu Tingyan's, and glared at Chu Sheng, standing beside him with strong possessiveness and not letting Gu Tingyan get anywhere near Chu Sheng.

Gu Tingyan looked at Chu Sheng, his voice low: "Come out with me; I have something to ask you."

His tone was neither salty nor bland, making it impossible for anyone to discern the emotions in his words, leaving people unable to guess what he was about to do.

Chu Sheng nodded: "Okay."

Gu Qinghuan hugged Gu Tingyan's arm and refused to let go, terrified that if the two of them were left alone, they would do something to wrong her sister-in-law.

"I want to go too!"

Gu Tingyan paused, lowered his head, and looked at her seriously: "Are you sure?"

Gu Qinghuan was about to graduate from university; she was no longer a child.

She had always been well-protected by her family and had a simple, kind nature; Gu Tingyan acted with ruthless efficiency, while Gu Qinghuan was like a princess living in a castle, pure and kind-hearted by nature.

Gu Qinghuan nodded firmly: "I'm sure!"

Gu Tingyan glanced at Chu Yu and said: "You come along too."

Hearing this, Chu Sheng felt a chill in her heart; if Gu Tingyan was seeking her out alone, perhaps it was because he couldn't forget their old flame, and even with a wife like Qin Shu, he still had her on his mind.

A car carried them to the front of a villa; after getting out and entering, Chu Sheng saw a man kneeling on the ground, and her whole body suddenly stiffened.

The man kneeling on the ground was Xiao Cheng, the Chu Family's driver, who was responsible for taking Chu Sheng to the film set.

Chu Sheng wanted to turn and leave; she somewhat regretted following Gu Tingyan here, and a chill surged into her heart, making her unable to help but feel an urge to retreat.

She clenched her fingers into fists, calmed her emotions, and feigned ease on her face: "Tingyan, what is this about?"

Gu Tingyan walked in with his tall, upright frame; Gu Qinghuan was also stunned by the scene before her, and looking at her brother's handsome, peerless face, she felt a bit like a stranger: "Brother..."

Gu Tingyan had always doted on her; an elder brother is like a father, and he had always been Gu Qinghuan's role model.

Gu Tingyan raised his hand to ruffle her hair and said in a low voice: "Little Qinghuan must also learn to grow up on her own; you can't rely on your brother for everything."

Gu Qinghuan did not understand the meaning behind this at the time; it was only many years later, when she recalled what her brother said to her that day, that she felt sad and wanted to cry for him.

She was a daughter of the Gu Family; her parents doted on her, her grandfather loved her, and with a brother like Gu Tingyan shielding her, she didn't need to shoulder much responsibility.

But being born into the Gu Family and accepting the glory, wealth, and superior conditions brought by the Gu Family meant one had to give back.

Just like Gu Tingyan, in the face of interests, everything had to be sacrificed.

Gu Tingyan walked in, and Xiao Cheng became very agitated upon seeing him; the moment he saw Chu Sheng, his eyes widened.

Chu Sheng looked down at him with cold, warning eyes, and Xiao Cheng shrank back, hurriedly lowering his head.

Gu Tingyan sat on a chair, his expression cold: "Speak. Who told you to upload those photos?"

Xiao Cheng: "No one. It was me."

A cold sneer curled the corners of Gu Tingyan's lips; he stood up, kicked Xiao Cheng hard in the chest, and looked at A Zhong with a chilling voice: "Chop off his fingers."

Chu Sheng looked up abruptly, her body shivering; watching the man's near-cold-blooded and ruthless profile, she only felt he was too terrifying.

A Zhong: "Yes."

A Zhong drew the sharp dagger from his waist, a cold light flashed, and a heart-wrenching, painful plea for mercy rang out in the villa: "It was the Eldest Miss who told me to do it."

Chu Yu was completely terrified, unable to even make a sound; looking at the severed finger, she collapsed to the ground in fear.

It was her first time seeing Gu Tingyan's ruthlessness.

Xiao Cheng curled up on the ground, clutching his bleeding hand missing a pinky, and cried out in pain: "She said she wanted to ruin Qin Shu's reputation! Make her a known harlot!"

Chu Sheng's voice trembled: "Shut up!"

"You are slandering me!"

Chu Sheng turned back to Gu Tingyan and said: "Tingyan, I didn't tell him to do it!"

Gu Tingyan lit a cigarette, exhaled a thin wisp of blue smoke, held the cigarette between his thin lips, his brows dark and filled with ferocity: "Is that so?"

Chu Sheng's eyes lit up: "Yes!"

Gu Tingyan raised his hand and slapped her, his eyes icy.

Chu Sheng covered her face, her body trembling uncontrollably, her eyes red, unable to believe that Gu Tingyan would hit her because of Qin Shu.

"Chu Sheng, you wanted to destroy Qin Shu."

"I do hate her! But I didn't have anyone destroy her!"

Gu Tingyan threw her to the ground; Chu Sheng fell, her hand touching the severed finger, and she screamed in terror.

Gu Tingyan stared at the woman's pale face, his voice cold as he warned: "There will not be a next time."

Gu Tingyan glanced at A Zhong: "Clean this up."

"Yes."

He stubbed out the cigarette in his hand, and before leaving, he looked at the stunned Gu Qinghuan: "Not leaving yet? Planning to stay the night?"

Gu Qinghuan came back to her senses and immediately followed closely behind Gu Tingyan.

It was the first time she had seen such a bloody and cruel scene.

It was also the first time she had seen such a terrifying brother.

Gu Tingyan got into the car and glanced at Gu Qinghuan, who kept her head lowered; he lit a cigarette, his voice low: "Don't tell your sister-in-law."

Gu Tingyan did not want Qin Shu to know about this dark side of his.

Gu Qinghuan nodded vigorously.

She grabbed the corner of her clothes with her fingers, feeling somewhat afraid: "Brother, will you treat me like this in the future too?"

Gu Tingyan was taken aback; he curled his lips into a faint smile and patted her head: "Brother will never treat you like this."

"Qinghuan, you must learn to grow up on your own."

"If one day Brother is no longer here, or cannot protect you, you must have enough ability to protect yourself."
